I've always passed by this area but I didn't realize that there was a taco place and la michoacana here! My friend and I stopped by for lunch to try their food. When we walked inside we realized that both places were combined inside which was cool. It was very spacious with many tables and places to sit. We came on a Tuesday for lunch, it wasn't that busy. I ordered a Carne Asada plate and chose flour tortillas. It also came with a Jarritos drink too, you can choose which flavored drink you want from the fridge by the counter. My friend got a pupusa, and carne asada (beef) and chicken tacos. The carne asada was phenomenal. I was really surprised at the portion of beef that came with my plate, it was huge. Not only that, but it was flavored and seasoned so well. It was savory and tasty. The frijoles (beans) and arroz (rice) was good, and the veggies on the side tasted very fresh. I took a bite of my friend's beef taco too and it was great. Every bite from my dish was great, I loved it. The only thing was that I wish the sides were a little bigger in proportion to the carne asada. For me, the sides are just as important as the protein. So I wish they gave a little more to balance out the whole dish. Other than that, I liked what I ordered. I'd come back for the carne asada and ice cream. read more

The young lady who took our order and guided us through the menu was too sweet for words, and her grandmother made the pastelito and the Fresca pina was freshly made with all natural ingredients by her aunt. This is a delicious, family-owned and operated taco spot with an attached La Michoacana for street food and ice cream. This is an authentic, order at the counter, quick, affordable spot. They hand you a number, you grab a seat, and they bring out your food. It was very busy on a Sunday afternoon. We even had our children sitting in one side of the only open booth while we ordered and another family came after a few minutes and awkwardly sat on the other side of that same booth and wouldn't move. What? haha. But I digress...once another booth opened up, we snagged it. We started our meal with chips, salsa, and queso. It was easily the best part of the meal. All three were obviously homemade and very, very tasty. I wish we had purchased some of the salsa to bring home with us. We ordered: -#7: carnitas sope, carne asada taco, chicken gordita: all very tasty with the taco as the favorite. We did wish for a bit more salt and seasoning. Although, that was likely the point of the three sauce options. -Beef taco salad: the meat was flavorful. I actually wish that there were more lettuce, tomato, and avocado served with this. It was good with salsa and queso drizzled on top and a bit of the salsa verde (one of the three squeeze bottles brought to the table). The shell was cooked perfectly. Warm and not too oily. -Kid cheese quesadilla meal with rice and beans: Really good and a large portion. We love it when there is the more authentic oaxaca and/or chihuahua cheeses on our dishes. Very tasty and filling for our kiddo. -Kid bean burrito with rice and beans: I erroneously thought that there would be a meat in this burrito, but note that it is bean and a bit of melted cheese. Our kid loved the tortilla but not the beans. None of our kids liked the beans, actually, which were a tad runny and underseasoned. The service was great. I ate at this place with 2 of my co-workers. We arrived around 11:37 AM. This is one of those places where you place your order at the counter, pay for it, take a number for your table, and then seat yourself. One of my co-workers ordered chips and dip and sopes. My other co-worker ordered fish tacos. I ordered 1 pupusas with carnitas, 1 baleadas especiales with beef tongue, and 1 baleadas with egg. The total amount of time for our food to arrive was 13:59 minutes. The interior of the restaurant does have some wear and tear here and there, but nothing really bad. As for the bathroom, its a single person bathroom that I'd say was "Walmart bathroom" quality (though everything worked). But overall, those things didn't bother me. As for the food itself, we all really enjoyed our respective orders. One thing none of us knew was that on the right side of the restaurant was an ice cream parlor (which is part of Nela's Tacos, so its not like a completely separate business in the same room). This parlor had a decent variety of Hershey's ice cream flavors, but you could also get Latin smoothies/beverages and other kinds of frozen desserts. I didn't partake in any desserts, but my co-workers did. The fish taco co-worker got 1 scoop of coconut ice cream, which he said was superb. The sopes co-worker got 1 scoop of coconut chocolate almond ice cream, which he enjoyed. Last thing I'll mention is that the people working at the restaurant were very sweet. Overall, this was a great place for a group lunch and I think each of us will be coming back at some point read more

This is Cleveland's Mexican best kept secret. We found this place on accident one day when we were having a girls day and let me tell you I have not stopped coming back. Being from Houston Texas I love tacos and I miss tacos like authentic tacos. And this place Nela and her whole family and staff does not disappoint. The prices are very affordable and everything is made to order so it can be a little bit of a wait but not too long. I have enjoyed everything on the menu so far that I have tried. As a newcomer to the Cleveland area I will make a bold statement in that Nela's Tacos offers thee best Hispanic food in Cleveland! Nestled between a carnicería and nail salon, Nela's Tacos was my first experience of Cleveland Hispanic/Latin food (and boy did it not disappoint). Walking in your welcomed to a friendly bilingual staff who are working diligently to serve every customer. The Latin music playing in the background,and soccer displayed on the TV provided me with a sense of true Hispanic authenticity. My order consisted of asada tacos (topped with onions and cilantro) rice and beans, a side of chips and salsa, and an horchata! A perfect combo if you ask me! The tacos were complimented very well with the 3 various homemade salsas, each having a distinct taste and spice level. I was very much appreciative of the hospitality of the staff, and their ability to use both English and Spanish to serve their customers. We stopped by on the way to Chattanooga because Yelp made it sound like a good place, and it was Cinco De Mayo weekend, so why not? We ordered take out for the rest of the family. It's about 2 miles off the interstate, but GPS took us right to it. They are located on a strip mall with a lot of other businesses. Their sign out front is brightly colored and easy to see. Parking is plentiful. Inside is large, clean, and bright. You order in the back. The menu is on the wall behind the counter. They also have specials on a board on the counter. They have a wide variety, so take your time. The Chili Colorado was decent. The meat was good quality. The sauce was thicker than I am used to and not spicy. The rice was nice. It had a good flavor and texture. The refried beans came with chunks of queso fresco on top. The Burrito Especial was very large and good. The steak was well cooked and the other ingredients seasoned well. It all mixed together and made an excellent meal. The pollo loco was fine. It was not as flavorful as others I have had. The chicken was cooked well and there was a good amount. The fajitas were good. The was a nice mix of peppers and onions with some spices. The pastelito, tamale, and tacos were all fine. Nothing extraordinary, but certainly good. The corn tortillas for the tacos were thicker than normal, and doubling them up for the taco overpowered the ingredients. They also have papusas. They take about 15 minutes to make, which is stated on the menu. All we had were very good and made correctly. The cheese only type lets you taste the inherent flavors, which are excellent. We did not try the ice cream or the popsicles, but they all looked good. They have very interesting popsicle flavors (tequila!) and ice cream bowls. I enjoyed my meal from here. Everything was good to very good. I would not make a special trip from Chattanooga, but if you are in Cleveland, it's certainly worth a stop. read more

This has been a place that I have been wanting to try for a while now. It is a quaint little Ma & Pa taco shop that stays humble to its roots. I tried the Gorditas and Nachos as well as several of their salsas. The gorditas were nice and I greatly enjoyed them. Each gordita is a meal of its own with how filling they are. The nachos I got for later and they thoughtfully separated out all the ingredients so I could heat and assemble them as I liked. Everything was very tasty and delightful. read more

I started with the pastelittos hondureno and it was a little taste of honduras with a twist...these pastelitos are on AMAZING...IS LIKE SUPER TASTY ON steroids.... sooo good...I AM SUPER ADDICTED. They are crunchy and smoky and savory and super perfectly seasoned... A MUST TRY....I then had the Honduran enchilada and it was super tasty with ground beef and the fresh slaw, tomatoes onions and cilantro. and dont forget about their honduran cotija cheese.... while it is different from the pastelitos it is still a must try delicious dish that sits perfectly balance.the pupusa it's soft and chard full of excellent fillings and the slaw was mild and perfect ... make sure to use the salsa sauce to make pop and stand out from the rest... this place is the absolute DIAMOND IF CLEVELAND. I am from California and this was some of the best tasting Latin American food I have ever tasted! Mom and Pop feel. Very helpful English speaking order taker for those of our 12 person group that did not speak Spanish. Order and pay then sit down with a number. Simple inside decor. Clean. Incredibly tasty, savory food with good portions not big and not small. The tacos are authentic feeling with small sized tortillas so you will need a few to fill up. Excellent food! I stopped in because I had heard great things about the authentic food and I wanted to try it for myself. I noticed that there was a menu listing Mexican dishes and another menu listing Honduran dishes so I decided to try something off the Honduran menu. I had the Pollo de tajada and it was amazing. The dish consisted of a fried chicken leg quarter on a bed of fried plantains with shredded raw cabbage in two different sauces drizzled over. I waited about 20 minutes for my meal which they did warn me about when I ordered, but that was fine because it gave me a chance to try some of their homemade coconut ice cream as an appetizer. the fried Chicken was probably some of the best fried chicken I've had in a very long time and the combination of the plantains, the shredded raw cabbage, and the sauces were the perfect accompaniment. I highly recommend checking them out if you're looking for something different. They have standard dishes as well and the tacos looked wonderful. read more
