I have a 2013 BMW 328i, and after a few long-distance drives, my car started having some issues. I needed to replace the brake pads, rotors, and drive belt. Zac was extremely professional and took the time to clearly explain what was going on with the car, which I really appreciated. There was also another issue with my turbo that would've cost me thousands at a BMW dealership. Instead of pushing a full replacement like they did, Zac offered an alternative solution (adjusted turbo actuator) that made a lot more sense AND saved me thousands of dollars. I called around to several auto shops in the area, and this place not only offered the best price in NorCal, but also got the job done fast. The service was honest, efficient, and affordable. Zach helped us with our 1995 Porsche 911 and was extremely reasonable with his pricing. He diagnosed the vehicle because I was under the impression from another mechanic that the engine may need a rebuild. Zach told us that it seems oil may have spilled and just needs to burn off hence the smoke we saw. That assessment was the difference between 20k for an unneeded rebuild. All he noticed was a couple of rubber pieces that needed to be replaced in the engine bay. Nothing serious. Zach is honest, trustworthy and fair. My 2018 BMW M2 had a strange rattling sound coming from the engine. After being misdiagnosed by 2 other mechanics, I reached out to Zach through a referral from a friend. I had been told by the other mechanics that the cost of repair was going to be upwards of $6000 to replace my turbo and oil pump for my car which has just under 11k miles. Absolutely ridiculous! After explaining to him the situation, he reassured me he'd figure out what was going on. Zach spent many hours on my car trying to diagnose it. Eventually, he figured out the issue, and proved the other mechanics completely wrong. My total was just about $300 for the many hours of work he put into it. Every step of the way, Zach updated me on his findings. I felt very well respected and relaxed through his honesty and commitment to getting to the bottom of it. Nelco German Auto Repair is my "go-to" shop for anything that my 2006 Porsche Carrera will ever need as long as I have the vehicle and as long as Zack is available to work on my car. My first experience working with Zack was a year ago when I bought my pre-owned Carrera and Zack did the PPI on the car. He was very responsive to my call and was able to get the PPI done immediately! He was honest with the feedback and was thorough with the inspection and as a result I ended purchasing the vehicle. I then went back to Zack for the IMS bearing as it was a recommended job for the car and he recommended what he would do if he owned the vehicle. We ended up doing the job and the car has ran great ever since. He's also done smaller jobs such as oil changes and resetting the motor on the passenger side window and the service and results have been great. Most recently, he replaced the clutch on the car and was able to get the job done very quickly and the car is again running excellent. What I appreciate about Zack and Nelco is that it's an honest business and I trust that Zack treats my car as if it was his. He is very fair with his quotes and I love how he loves cars and motorcycles as much as his customers. Wow this auto shop is by far the most efficient and most friendly place I've ever been to! On Friday morning, I realized my tire was completely flat and needed a new one. Friday afternoon, I called Nelco who said they'd have a brand new tire for me by 10am the next morning and to bring it in! At first I was a bit skeptical of the efficiency of their service (who can order and deliver a new tire within hours??) but it was true! I had my car towed to Nelco on Saturday morning 10am and was able to take it back (fixed like new!) by noon. Just incredible. Brought my bmw in for a tune up and Zac was friendly and knowledgeable about European cars which is very important when handling my car, I prefer a specialist. He installed a new belt because the old one was about to go, got an oil change and he proceeded check my engines overall health. I've been meaning to do this for a while and just recommended a friend to come by Zac's shop. Zac was awesome! Super reasonable and straight forward mechanic. He fixed my Father-in-law's Mercedes ML300. Engine issues and Door locking mechanism. I then left my JCW MINI for him to diagnose. I normally do maintenance on my own vehicle, but was having Headlight issues and replaced the HID bulb myself. Once I discovered that this wasn't working the dealership quoted all new Headlights and wiring harness? Over 2k in repairs? I once again thought I could repair on my own and without turning this into a long story I ultimately brought it to Zac to get a second opinion. Low and behold Zac repaired the Headlight with relative ease because he discovered it was simply a bad bulb I was sold. Because of a bad parts store and diagnosis from the local dealership. I lost a ton of time/money dealing with this and should have just come to Zac to begin with. :) Learn from me and don't hesitate on getting a second opinion or having your repairs done with Zac. Zac is the kind of mechanic you can talk to about your concerns and he'll share his wisdom with you without trying to sell you anything. I initially called about a major service for my wife's BMW X3 because the computer seemed to want something. Zac went down the list of things it might need, but nothing was pressing so that was the end of it. A few days later I tried to get the oil changed, but my usual place wouldn't touch it. I looked up the cheapest oil changer on Craigslist and almost made an appointment. My wife was leery and felt more comfortable taking it to the BMW dealer. Noooooo! Maybe Zac, the German specialist, could do it. Well, OK. Of course Zac could do it. He wasn't as cheap as the other place, but probably way cheaper than the dealer. I made an appointment to get the oil changed and the radiator flushed. The next morning was go time. We looked at the car together and found some things that it didn't need right that minute, but I added them to the list. He got it all done the same day for a price I considered very reasonable. When I came to pickup the car I found a pile of old parts in front of the desk just to show that the work was actually done. Zac told me about a couple of other minor issues that might need monitoring and the computer won't be bothering me until the next oil change. Bonus: I was concerned that the transmission in my Rogue might be slipping. Zac drove it around and said it was fine. I feel a lot better now. I'm delighted to have found Zac. Zach has done all sorts of work on my 95 C36 benz. I found him through a friend when he worked at another German auto shop. I guess he was so good and worked so well w/ the customers he opened up his own garage. Either way, as always he worked quickly and informed me what the recent problem was. The solution was a $380 part from the stealership but he also informed me that the part was available on eBay for $40. Ugh...I love this guy! He just saved me $340. I had the part delivered to his shop and bam it was fixed. He even found a nail in my tire and got it plugged. This guy rocks! NELCO IS THE WAY TO GO!! read more
