So much so that I towed the car from San Carlos to San Francisco. My daughter's Subaru's radiator broke down and the coolant got into the engine. We got 3 different quotes for various outcomes. It ranged from a couple of hundred to 6K. Part of the problem is that we don't know how badly damaged the engine is. I talked to Steven and sent over the other estimate and the diagnosis from our usual auto repair place. He got back to me super quickly and was able to provide a solution which would solve the current problem and give us time to see if the problem will persist. We agreed on a fix and he got it back to us within a few days. I was so very impressed with the thorough, multi-page diagnostic that caught other things like a manufacturer recall. It really does make a difference when your mechanic used to work at the place of your car make! Either way, we will see if the car is fixed or if we need to proceed to a rebuild/new engine. This was such a positive experience and I really appreciate the thoroughness, expectation setting, and expediency in which our car was serviced.

Mechanic asks if I'm patching or replacing, and I say replace. Go in and do the paper work and head to the back (with my lunch, you never know how long on a saturday mid-day). Pretty soon the office manager comes in and says they can probably patch if I want, no promises. Sure great, I say, give it a try. Sure enough, they saved me 80% of what I expected to pay. They had plenty of chance to do the higher cost service and chose to to do what was best for me instead. Respect Tl; dr: fast, good price, polite. Will go there again

I would like to share my three years of customer experience at Nissi Motors. As an owner of two pristine classic cars that had earned multiple Concours d'Elegance awards across California, including Palo Alto Concours, Marin Sonoma Concours and Hillsborough Concours, I accept nothing less than the best in terms of routine maintenance and specialized restoration. I consider myself pretty meticulous and picky when selecting my mechanic. Like doctor to patient relationship, it takes lot of my confidence for me to have someone service my collectibles. To ease you reviewers for their feedback, I will list them in bullet points for quick references. 1) They listen very well to customers' job request(s) and finding(s) on their own car(s). 2) They only do what they are asked to do. They would, however, recommend what is needed to be done and your permission to have the job(s) done. 3) They try the best way to save a customer's wallet by explaining whether a job can be deferred at the moment and identifying the most time-effective way to perform the repair to save labor hours. 4) They combined modern computerized technology along with old world mechanical craftsmanship. This is very important as parts sometimes could have been safely repaired with reliability rather than expensive complete replacement. Specific evident: vacuum lock system on my classic Benz. 5) They listen to my complaints and LEARN from them. I can personally witness that their improvement and that they brought their concierge service to the next level. Specific event: my worries about my car getting ding in their congested garage. Now, their shop is clean and organized. Hope my brief list can provide you all with an unbiased view of my feeling about Nissi Motors. Not only did he address my immediate concerns, but he also offered valuable insights into other necessary repairs. Throughout our interaction, he displayed commendable patience and actively listened to my concerns, providing thoughtful advice regarding other areas of my vehicle. I was particularly pleased that Al respected my budgetary constraints, allowing me to address repairs gradually rather than all at once. This consideration was especially important to me, as I had previously encountered an unfortunate experience with a dealership that performed unauthorized repairs on my brand-new car, resulting in unexpected expenses. Al assured me that he would always seek my consent before addressing any additional repairs, aligning perfectly with my preferences. Furthermore, he documented the other issues I mentioned, labeling them as "what to address later" on the invoice. Al's friendly and engaging demeanor made our conversation enjoyable. Despite my busy schedule during the Thanksgiving holiday, Al accommodated my limited availability, allowing me to pick it up on Thanksgiving Day. This arrangement worked perfectly for me, as my employer granted me the day off. I appreciated Al's flexibility. I recently brought my 2008 Audi RS4 in to Nissi Motors to have repairs done and the shop did an excellent job repairing my vehicle...i really can't praise the owner Benny enough...I thanked him for his great work and he responded that a yelp review would be appreciated...and me getting of my butt to actually do it is about as high of a praise as it gets. Being familiar with the automotive industry, I am never in a rush to get my car worked on...I want the technicians to take their time and not cut any corners when working on my car (half the time mechanics create new problems in the process of dealing with your car's original issue.) And looking at all the cars in the garage, I expected to wait several days to have my car looked at, let alone worked on. To my surprise, Benny called me the very next day to pick the car up and, to my even greater surprise, the shop did a fantastic job. Benny says he tries to treat every car like his family is driving it...it's a big claim but I have to say he earned the right to the boast...his attention to detail along with his abilities and knowledge set him above and apart other providers in the market. A technician who believes in the principle of doing good business and being rewarded with a loyal customer base that grows over time is all too rare in the industry...but Benny's got it and it shows in the work and the bill. read more

If you have a problem with your car and many other garages have unsuccessfully tried to fix it, look no further as you have found the right man. I am taking about Benny Lui, the owner of Nissi Motors, on Clara St (b/t 4th and 5th St) SoMa in San Francisco. I was ready to drive my 1991 Merc 500SL into SF Bay as nobody seemed to be able to fix the engine problem of my car. I found Nissi Motors with the help of Yelp, visited the shop and discussed the problem with Benny. I brought my car in a day later, and within that very day Benny had fixed the problem and the car is running like new ever since! Benny Lui, although still young, is very knowledgeable and an excellent Mechanic (old school) who knows his profession like no other. Benny goes out of his way to explain the problem, gives advise what to do about it, and leaves you with the impression that your car is in the right hands. After each visit to his shop he has convinced me again and again about his integrety and sincerety of doing excellent work. My appreciation for Benny would not be complete without mentioning Ada Wong. We keep our vehicles until they die and can not be resurrected, (E.g.1990 Dodge Caravan 22 years, over 200,000 miles). Our 2001 M-B E320 has over 180,000 miles. It has been maintained by Nissi Motors ever since its 7 year, 100,000 mile extended warranty expired. Nissi uses sophisticated diagnosis equipment to detect or rule out problems. For example, a transmission problem was determined to be a sensor, rather than an internal problem. The difference between a sensor and a transmission was approximately $3,000. Nissi does only the work actually needed, rather than work suggested by M-B. The most recent service was of a relatives 2002 Toyota Ravi4. Two air filters were recommended by Toyota, but only one was dirty so only one was replaced. Nissi orders parts presumed to be needed before the vehicle is dropped off, thus delivering the vehicle when promised. Both owner Benny and Shop Supervisor Ada are knowledge and able to explain what needs to be done and why. My only issue related to the lack of a Clara Street street sign, which has since been rectified. read more

I have been to quite a few mechanics in SF and can honestly say that Benny's work is a proven product. He specializes in Mercedes but was very surprised to learn how knowledgeable he is with just about any car regardless if it is foreign or American. I purchased a used 2006 BMW 330ci several months ago and as expected the car needed some work inside and out. It did not have the performance expected from a BMW based on experience driving other BMW's. But with Benny's touch it was restored and has been driving smoothly ever since. What I appreciate about Benny and what you will be hard pressed to find is a mechanic with integrity. He is not in business to take advantage of people and will not persuade you to fix something that is not necessary. We were extremely satisfied by the way we were treated and kept updated with the progress, When Ada said she would call, she followed through. She was great to work with along with Benny. Hey ladies, if you own Mercedes like me, and don't know where to go for mechanical work or services, you should try Nissi Motors who is honest. I have been visiting Mercedes Benz dealership for the annual service on my car, and I found it very expensive every time I visit. So last year, I decided to visit other mechanic nearby my home and I wasn't happy about it at all. People were nice, but my car didn't feel the same when I drive. I could feel something wasn't right. They weren't particularly specialized in Mercedes. While talking to my neighbor whom I trust a lot, she recommended to try Benny at Nissi Motors. Nissi Motors was the first non-dealership place I took my Mercedes Benz GLK350. I researched, then brought it in for an estimate. Benny gave me a lower than expected cost to replace my rear brakes and rotors. I made an appointment an brought my car in at 830am. By 1215pm (wow!) Aimee had texted and called me that the repairs were complete. COOL SURPRISES: 1. Benny replaced a light bulb without me asking and at no charge. : ) Thanks Benny! 2. Benny is extremely knowledgeable about a wide variety of cars. Plus his shop has the capability to perform detailed diagnosis on many, many car brands. I've thrown nothing but interesting cars/projects at him and he performed nothing but excellent work... e.g. my old Celica All-trac turbo maintenance and upgrade (few people wanted to touch this car), my 190E manual transmission conversion with other upgrades (Benny helped find and fabricate the proper bits and pieces to make it possible), as well as all my Mercedes e55 and M-class and VW Passat maintenance services. When the transmission on my BMW went out and BWM dealer gave me an estimate of about $8000 to fix it, i looked for alternative place as was not prepared to pay that to have my car fixed that is when i asked around and found Benny, he fixed my transmission for fraction of the BMW estimate and it is still running, and that is when i decided to bring my mercedes suv there as well...I have been saving money and i get great door to door service , they are honest and fast and get it done even when they are busy...but most of all he knows about german cars even better than the dealers for less...i will continue to take my cars there... read more

I took my Fiat 500c Sport in for the 30,000 mile scheduled maintenance. I made an appointment, dropped the car off in the morning, picked it up in the afternoon. Everything was done as requested and the price was much better than what the dealer charges for the same work. As I live in SoMa, the location couldn't be more convenient for me. Nissi will definitely be my go-to place for Fiat maintenance. This is a no frills place. There's no waiting room, no TV, no coffee, no donuts. You drop your car off and then leave. You don't come back until it's time to get your car. The cat is very friendly. read more

They are terrific. I was worried when Nissi Motors became Torx, but Ada is still there covering the front desk and making sure you understand what's happening to your car, and Al is terrific. My car had a mysterious problem that Al spent a lot of time trying to fix and didn't charge me for. He finally recommended I take it to the dealer (how many auto mechanics do that?) to take advantage of their diagnostic computers. I will continue to be a happy and loyal patron. Benny and the Nissi crew are all about good service and excellent mechanics. I have two VW Passat Station wagons (00 and 04) . They have the normal wear and tear issues and Benny provides very honest feedback on what repairs need to be done and what can be put on hold. And when the "out of the blue" issues arise, he is very accommodating in getting the car in and out of the shop in a timely manner. Hallelujah! I finally found somebody to take care of my Porsche in a timely, helpful, and most importantly an honest fashion. Not to mention that their prices were quite a bit lower than the previous people (that sit at the top of this list). Nor did they include work that didn't need doing. Unlike some others. Never mind fix anything...just to look at it. Then if you want it fixed well they charge the labor and parts on top of that. I felt much more than nickeled and dimed at the $200 fee. So today I went in with an engine light on, and they wanted now $240 just too look at it. So time to find a new garage. I am starting to feel just ripped off at the fee stucture.

Let me tell you that the 50% difference in price was only half of the reason why I am leaving this review. They not only worked on my car and fixed the issue, but when I came back to pick it up, they had washed my car inside and out! I have spent thousands of dollars at Volkswagen and not once have they ever even rinsed my car off! I will no longer go anywhere else for my Volkswagen repair.
