I wanted to follow up on a recent recommendation to one of my neighbors for Nelson Exteriors. I had quite a bit of work done late last Summer and it is holding up well. When it became air conditioning season again I thought there was a problem with the HVAC exterior plumbing. I called Nelson, spoke with Lassito, the General Manager, and asked him to come out and take a look. It turned out to be a "non problem", I was mistaken on the function, "Operator Error" on my part. It was reassuring to know that if I had a problem I could simply make a call and someone from Nelson would be out to look at the issue. I was impressed that they would care about their work enough to send someone out to inspect. How often does that happen nowadays? Going back to my original review, I had a great experience with Nelson Exteriors, from Jake, my salesman, Lyndsey and Lisa in the office to Jeff, the Project Manager for the renovations. They were prompt, courteous and had "can do" attitudes. They explained the process and followed through even with weather issues we encountered. I had rotted wood replacement, siding replacement, new gutters and complete painting. The attention to detail and quality of the work was outstanding. I am revisiting my 2025 review about Nelson Exteriors now 16 months later and the company's high-quality work / craftmanship has stood the test of time. We are so pleased with their 5-star attention to detail that I am including the original review (posted on Google) that I wrote here. Get a cup of your favorite beverage as it takes a bit to read. Dear Reader, Our experience with Nelson Exteriors was outstanding. Their references were great, but it's really their commitment to exceptional service and execution of agreed upon plans that differentiates them from - quite frankly - all others. From the jump, Jake Mifsud, our sales contact, was courteous, on time, inquisitive about what was most important to us and worked through both scheduling and project budgeting in a very timely fashion. He's positive, responsive and followed up at the end of our remodeling to ensure we were satisfied! Once contracted and turned over to the Nelson project team, Lindsey Trice coordinated our schedule and it was miraculous. One team would finish their work and 30 minutes later the next team showed up. Brilliant! Jeff Van Bever was our project manager. Boy, is he thorough and committed to excellence. We knew we were in capable hands from our very first walk through with Jeff. Given his extensive experience in construction, Jeff spied issues he knew we would need to address citing most to least important along the way. This gave us opportunities to evaluate change orders and what we wanted to fix versus what we could live with. When making a change, Jeff ensured we had the change requirements and costs within 24 (or less) hours. We found change order prices to be very reasonable. He lead a series of terrific teams beginning with construction. We replaced all of our front siding and most of our rear necessitating expert skills. Gustavo, "Cheppe" - aka Juan - and Josh were amazing. So fast and accurate, they completed their part of the renovations in what seemed like a moment. It's worth saying that they always cleaned up after themselves - a priority of ours given bad experiences with other companies. Next up was the painting crew. 5 professionals led by Gonzalo painted the whole house and deck. We installed a new front door and both their exterior paint job and interior - like the rest of the house's painting - looked great. Really appreciated that they, like the construction team, were fast and efficient. When doing the final walk thru with Jeff and Gonzalo we only noted 5 spots that needed further attention. All were immediately done and the painting looks great. The house's jewelry, also known as leaf guard gutters, were capably set in place by Oscar and Bartolo. Arriving at noon (following Gonzalo and team's departure at 11:30am), they set in place a whole wrap-around series of gutters (extensive work) by 7:30pm. I couldn't believe it, but they were done. Again Jeff checked in to make certain their work was completed as stated and that we were pleased. They're beautiful and lend a graceful finishing touch. Nelson Exteriors works with like-minded companies to undertake certain tasks. In our instance, we worked directly with a company they referred - Window Traditions in Johns Creek. Clay Godfree, their sales manager, Chris, their project manager and their crew Mikaill and Welisson were as performance and customer service oriented as the team at Nelson. So glad to have that reference. My only wish is that Nelson Exteriors did interiors. I'd hire them in a nano second! Our experience with Nelson Exteriors was simply best-in-class. On time, on budget, led with confidence by people who know what they are doing. We, no doubt, will hire them again as roofing and underdeck projects surface. read more

Nelson delivered incredibly poor quality. They did poor quality work, damaged my house, left debris in the yard, ruined my windows, and have been promising to send someone out, but he is always too busy. They finished more than a year ago. And they were about 25% more than the next bid and 50% more than the next. I'm hoping to put up a video showing all the problems. I'll link to that soon. Won't use again. They let my house get rained on for months with no gutters when their PM quit. Then hijacked my driveway for months with their dumpster. Further, they hated me pulling permits on both decks which the County failed. And had to pick up screws/nails left in my driveway. Their sales guys are also paid on commission. They're laughing all the way to the bank. I should've sued them for foundation damage. And don't bother with a response. Was gonna use ya'll for windows. Not anymore. They also pay the staff to wrap their personal vehicles with their advertising. And the crews drink on the job. Just ask Miguel. read more

I spent $12,000 with Nelson. The installation was a mess. I've since had two other companies comment on the installation of Hardie siding and both were really surprised - they both said "normally Nelson does really good work". A lot of my project was installed incorrectly but my PM talked it away. Less than a year later, it looks splotchy and I'm worried about the areas that are not installed per Hardie spec. I wish I'd just had my wood scraped and painted instead of "upgrading" to Hardie board. I'd love Nelson to make this right so I can revise my review. I want to be a fan. read more

We requested a quote for exterior repairs and painting in September of 2023. We received the quote and a promise the work would start in 4 weeks. After many many phone calls a crew arrived at the end of November. They did a half day work, and left having removed the railings up to our front deck. The crew never returned. We got a voice mail apologizing that they could not complete the work leaving us in the lurch with no railings. We employed another contractor who completed the work. Six weeks after Nelson's left our property they sent an invoice for the full amount and threatened a lein if we did not pay. Be very very careful when you consider allowing this company onto your property. read more

I had an on-site consultation with Nelson Exteriors, but I did NOT have service performed. This review is for the initial communication and consultation only. Nelson Exteriors responded quickly to my initial inquiry, and the consultation was scheduled soon after. My house was evaluated by Ryan for painting of the trim as well as for creation of a back porch screen. Ryan was very knowledgeable, and his evaluation of my property was thorough. I felt his proposal was well-thought out. Our primary goal was to mitigate mold/mildew development at certain exterior areas of our house with cleaning and repainting. Because the current paint is relatively new, we elected to simply have the house "soft washed" with a plan for repainting down the road. I will likely contact Nelson again when that time comes. read more

I requested a tear down and rebuild of my deck. However, I asked for a couple of options with the quote. I was told I would get the quote by the following Monday. It's been another week with no contact. During the site visit, I felt very judged by the estimator. I told him I had a bad previous experience with a contractor that did all work bc I dismissed his advances and was really looking for a solid company to move forward. I also told him it's taken awhile for me to get back to this project, due to my 4 1/2 yr old being a victim of gun violence, causing huge medical bills. He made a couple of comments during the process that showed me he was bring judgy. Is it because I'm not a "typical entitled Marietta wife", but an enterpeneurial single mom? Nelson Exteriors just completed an exterior painting job on my house and I love my house more then ever. My husband is perfectionist and prefers to do everything by himself in the house, because he notice all the little mistakes. Making perfectionist like my husband happy is not a small task. We hired Nelson Exteriors and the process was great from the start. They updated the front of the house with hardie plank and painted all the house. Absolutely excellent work. Quality products and responsible pricing. Lazaro and his team are the best. And they are always available to talk if you have any questions or concerns. We contracted to have exterior house painted. They use a very nice shiny brochure that says they use Resilience Paint by Sherwin Williams. We discussed with Scott during interview that we wanted to used Behr but he insisted that the Resilience/ SW was a great paint and Emerald a step above which was the Best. We agreed on his brand trusting his judgement. Original contract was approx 3200.00 but because we were going to a slight color change (slight) we were told it would need two coats in the "hand painted " areas. Cost increased to 3900.00 The foreman Yaris shows up and Clearly had not looked at contract. He thought we were painting the same color. I had to give him the book with paint samples / number so he would know what to buy. He tried to tell me that there was going to be an increase in the price as well because home had lead paint. I said Scott ( who priced the job) told me it was less than 20% and it would not effect anything. Yarin ( project mgr) says " Scott is just an "estimator" and does not get up on ladders etc and cannot always know" I said "Isn't Scott Nelson the President of the company " ? He looked shocked that I knew this. Again , had he read the contract, it's in black and white that home will not require any additional remedies. After painting was complete the "walk thru is last. I was told they would have our paint for touch ups as needed during this time. Problem is the paint used was PPG / sun proof sold by Porter Paints. Cans left on property. An inferior cheaper paint was used. per contract Stipulated Sherwin Williams. "Resilience" and Emerald. I specifically asked Yarin how everything looked and he said great. "We used the Emerald on the second coat." After seeing paint cans I called Scott and asked him if he was aware that Porter Paint was used on job. He said he did. He then proceeded to tell me the paint was just as good and I would get the same warranty. I told him his project manager told me he used Sherwin Williams. President Scott Nelson says he would Not lie. But he did. Yarin tries to backtrack telling me he mis- spoke ,he paints so many houses. Unfortnatly the lies didn't stop there. He went on to say they were Out of SW paint selection. Nope I called three SW stores one being within five miles of where he got the Porter Paint. He apologized but company was not willing budge. They got away with changing up paint brands. Beware of this company . They were paid in full for the job because I did not want to upset my elderly dad( 93 ) and fight them . I am making complaint with the BBB . I did let them know that my review would reflect how I felt. Company is dishonest. I would Never recommend Nelson Exterior. * side note . We contacted Nelson Exterior for quote to replace our siding, from the initial contact with Mrs. Lisa and meeting Mr. Fred Boyd for an estimate all the way through completion of the project and making payment to Mrs. Ebony it has surpassed our expectation. The crew arrived earlier than scheduled time, the container to load the waste was rolled in on two wheels so it does not damage the drive way unlike many companies that place a dumpster in your drive way. The start of project, installation and clean up after the completion has been a true 5 star, the entire team truly did care to make us a future customer. read more

When I paid Nelson Exteriors almost $4,000 a year ago for painting, wood trim repair and caulking, I didn't expect to have a home inspector this week tell me that I have rotten trim and crumbling siding that needs to be replaced. I didn't expect to have the company not stand behind their 4 year warranty and suggest that I hire a handyman to replace trim and siding and repaint one year after they completed a job on my house. I also didn't expect to have to call the company back twice within this time to caulk where the crew missed large areas. It appears that my house wasn't prepped per the contract (caulk, scrape & spot prime any bare wood). Attached are photos that show missing caulk, rotten or damaged trim and crumbling siding. I paid for the replacement of trim on the chimney, but the piece in the photo was overlooked. It is clear from the picture that the piece was not primed and painted because where there is paint on the roof line below the siding, there is no paint below the bare trim. It is clear that damaged trim and siding was painted over and not brought to my attention (as was admitted to by the project manager as part of a protocol). It is very disappointing when companies that hold themselves out to have high standards do not stand behind their warranty and projected reputation. My house has been painted every five years as a preventative measure. The reason for hiring Nelson was to insure that it was in good shape so that I wouldn't have to worry about any maintenance issues for another five to seven years. A year later, to be told that Nelson will not honor their warranty and I should hire a handyman is not acceptable. The project manager said he would post a rebuttal, which I expect and the office declined to let me speak with anyone else to work this out. As a consumer, no one should have to invest time and money on a project, and a year later have to start over again when a company like Nelson passes the buck. read more

Walk away from this company. You can't get a commit date. Then, they suddenly show up without notice. They will find a way to stop work, disappear, then charge more for work that is necessary, but didn't find on the initial survey. You'll have to poney up more money or be left with a partial job and find another contractor. read more

Very disappointed with our exterior painting and repair work. Initial quote and statement of work seemed reasonable at the time, but it took over two months for a crew to contact us and start work. Be very careful with this company. All the work the crew manager cares about is what is written on the work order. You may expect to get a professional window repair, but if there is sill rot and the work order doesn't expressly state it, then all you get is paint over rotted wood - sloppy and unprofessional. When I called it out, it turned into a heated argument with the crew manager. The pressure wash was satisfactory, but revealed some extra wood rot after the fact, that we agreed needed to be fixed. We accepted the additional charges and it took another three weeks for the crew to come back out. After the additional work was completed, I noticed significant white paint overspray on our roof. When I called it out, the crew manager tried to blame it on a previous paint job, which was done 14 YEARS AGO, that I personally supervised! He said that his crew uses tarp and tape to limit the overspray. The trouble with that argument was that he had dropped the crew off that day and left for another simultaneous job in another neighborhood and didn't supervise the work! If you do consider using this company, expect a lowball bid, followed by an aggressive crew manager who takes months to show up, argues your every point, then hounds you daily for for the money. We decided to cut our losses, pay the bill, and hire another company to finish the additional work that we asked Nelson for an estimate for, but never got. read more

Nelson Exteriors painted our house a few years ago. We were very happy with the sales rep, the process, and the final outcome. We had received several estimates for the job that were considerably less than Nelson, but chose Nelson as we were impressed with the pressure cleaning service that was that was included as part of the house painting warranty. Our house now is overdue for a pressure cleaning as well as some wood repair. We first contacted Nelson in May of this year (6 months ago) to request we be scheduled for our warranty pressure cleaning. After numerous calls, we are still waiting for it to be scheduled. Nelson shouldn't advertise pressure washing as part of their warranty, if they aren't able to perform the service. read more
