I wanted to update my thoughts on this experience because it's a masterclass in how a dealership can turn a misunderstanding into a long-term relationship. Initially, I was frustrated because it felt like the GM was aware of a major windshield crack and hadn't disclosed it. However, after speaking further, it became clear it was just a genuine internal communication error. The GM thought he had been told there was a scratch on the dash and didn't realize the extent of the actual issue. Where the scratch was located made the mixup understandable. Once the confusion was cleared up, Randy and the team at Nelson Mazda Murfreesboro really stepped up. They apologized for the oversight, gave me a visa gift card for my trouble with no strings attached, and went to work to make the deal right in hopes we could work together after the rocky start. They managed to beat a competing finance offer I had, securing me a better interest rate and a shorter term. They also replaced the windshield with a brand-new, warrantied one and included GAP and a two-year warranty. Throughout the entire process, Isaac was phenomenal. Zero pressure, high integrity, and a great advocate for me as a buyer. While the start was a bit bumpy, the way management handled the resolution proved they actually care about their customers and their reputation. UPDATE to previous review: Randy, the GM, is the man and came through on everything, made everything right and went way above and beyond your normal customer service, especially these days. Not only did he fix all 3 issues, the speakers, the tire, and replaced the battery, but he also had someone drive almost an hour to pick up the loaner he lent us. This is huge since we have a newborn baby in the house, so making a 2 hour round trip anywhere is tough. Couldn't recommend this dealership and especially Randy any higher than 5 out of 5, I'd say 10 out of 5! We Bought a used Honda Odessey mini van from Nelson 2 months ago, we were told if we had any issues with the vehicle in the first 3 months they would cover it. Unbeknownst to us, the mid and back speakers in the van don't work. So we called them up, since it was in the first 3 months to have them fix the issue, but unfortunately for us, they told us they wouldn't fix the issue but we could bring it back to them and we could pay them to fix the issue they should have covered since it was within the first 3 months or at the very least should have told us on the front end before selling us the vehicle. We feel mislead by their policy of being able to bring the vehicle back in the first 3 months and having it repaired and at the worst case, the classic bait and switch and not disclosing to us about the speaker on the front end. read more

Although Nelson Mazda was originally dismissive of my daughter's complaint of the wheel balance issue discovered by our Subaru dealer (why this is 4 stars, not 5), once the problem was escalated Randy, the GM, stepped up to the plate, had the problem fixed, and even covered the return visit to our Subaru dealer to make sure things were right. Turns out customer satisfaction *is* Nelson Mazda's #1 priority and we would do business with them again. read more

I previously posted a negative review of Nelson Mazda in Murfreesboro, TN. In response, the General Manager, Randy Dismang reached out and asked me to contact him. At first, I did not want to, but my daughter was very interested in one of the cars they had listed. As a father, I will do anything for my children in an effort to keep them happy and safe. Mr. Dismang persuaded me and my daughter to come in and talk to him, stating that what I experienced is not typical relations at Nelson Mazda. Long story short (and that is not meant in disrespect) Mr. Dismang did everything within his power to rectify the situation. He went far above and beyond to mend the relationship, helped us find an even better and safer car for my daughter and made sure that every possible detail was covered beyond any and all expectations. In the long run, he secured a return customer for service and future purchase. I would never have predicted that I would be leaving a positive review when this began, but after meeting Mr. Dismang and subsequent random employees, I feel that Nelson Mazda customer service is far beyond my initial experience and now would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a new or pre-owned car. Have purchased 2 CX5 Signatures. l avoid your service department. Inexperienced staff. Don't like all the rig-a-ma-row with check in and all the texts. Way over priced. Had a dead battery once. When jumped and started got lots of malfunction messages. Called service, was told to have it towed in. After waiting awhile all the malfunction lights went off and all was good. Great Recovery After a Bumpy Start We visited Nelson Mazda to trade in a car for something larger with a baby on the way. Dot your i's and cross your t's with this dealership. They are lazy and cut corners on contracts. We ended up paying cash for a service contract and how they included it in the deal they made it look like we financed it but we didn't really finance it. We paid cash for it. So when my daughter changed her mind and decided to cancel the service contract when they cancelled it (which was an ordeal in itself!!) they refused to give us the money back but instead they said they had to send it to the bank. even though we had an appointment it appears they run things first come first serve. took 2 and a half hours on an oil change, charged us over $100 and did not let us know that our not even 2 year old vehicle's warranty was expired before bringing it in. we could have gone to jiffy lube and had it taken care of in 30 min if we had known we didn't have any free oil changes left. unethical business practice and they know what they're doing. read more

My husband and I have been searching for a car and weren't sure as to what type car to get. We are in our late 60's and therefore wanted to do a lot of research as probably the last car we buy. We were so impressed with our sales person John Travis and enjoyed dealing with him very much. He was so kind when I kept coming back and testing the seats and looking over this car. We ended up not buying an suv and decided on a van instead, but even then, John was precious and told us at any point he'd love to help us and thankful we tried them out. It was not his fault Mazda needs to increase the back seat space of the CX90 for American adult size legs :) We also wanted to do business with Nelson as they are unashamed Christian people and we love that! This rating is specifically for the service department. They got me a loaner overnight at no cost while I had a handful of repairs done on my car. They were also very communicative about the status of the repairs on my car, clearly communicated cost and asked permission to do before doing unplanned service. If I were to rate the dealership itself, it would be a three. Buying my car back in 2013 took about four hours because the computer systems went down. I had traveled from Kentucky because this was the closest dealership to me at the time, and I ended up losing a day to the process. read more

If I could give 0 stars I most certainly would have. I worked with so many ppl because everyday I came back the person I originally worked with was gone. My credit was pulled when I specifically said for it not to be. I had the car not even 24hrs and the check engine light came on. I came all the way from Hsv, AL and had to take that 2hr drive back. Once there they told me it would take 2 hrs. When the 4hr mark came I asked what was going on and was informed the motor needed to be replaced. They asked did I want to use the extended warranty to cover it. I refused and said I wanted to return seeming I was in my grace period. They said I had to pay a $299 restock fee. I requested a manger and he refused to speak with me. Very unprofessional and disgusting. They were willing to sale me & my kids a lemon and thought they would get away with it. read more

I decided to buy a 2024 Mazda 3 Hatchback/Carbon Edition as an anniversary present for my wife. After contacting roughly a dozen, I narrowed the search to (4) dealerships, one of which was Nelson Mazda in Murfreesboro. Wanting to trade-in to be part of the deal, I scheduled a time to have our vehicle inspected at the dealership so they could offer a firm trade value. In dealing with a salesperson, I made it clear that I wasn't interested in "giving our car away", but that I was open to any reasonable offer based on the Kelly Blue Book trade-in evaluation. Having said this, the salesperson responded by saying "That would be fine! That's the way we evaluate trade-in value." I made the two-hour trip from Chattanooga (where we live) to Murfreesboro for the scheduled inspection/appraisal on Friday, June 18, 2024. As had been the case in dealing with my salesperson for several weeks, she was professional, courteous, and altogether friendly and engaging. But when another member of the staff gave her the trade-in value to share with me, it was glaringly obvious that he had NOT based it on Kelly Blue Book. Their offer was approximately 68% BELOW the average KBB figure. I asked if this was their final offer, and after checking one last time, they refused to budge even $1. Having misrepresented how they evaluate trade-in value, and having wasted the time and expense of a 250 mile trip, I was (to put it mildly) hot under the collar, but I chose not to "shoot the messenger" - the salesperson, who was very apologetic for this problem. I only asked that she relay the message to the person who came up with the employee with assessed the car's value, that the price was "ridiculous and insulting", and that Nelson had just lost my business. Today, on our 36th wedding anniversary, I closed a deal for the very same car, after they gave me a better price on the new Mazda...AND, without any negotiation, gave me a trade-in value that was close to 20% OVER the KBB value. My experience with Nelson Mazda was especially galling, as they openly represent themselves as a "Christian-owned" dealership. read more

Purchased my Toyota Sequoia here. They were very upfront, honest and consistent. None of the games you usually get with dealers. The price they advertised is what I paid. The sales guy was great and I have been going back to get my vehicle serviced regularly. I usually don't go to dealers as they cost more than general service stations, but this place is different. We started at Alexander Mazda in Cool Springs and received HORRIBLE service and a pathetic offer on our mazda trade-in. Nate, Rob and everyone else at Nelson Mazda took care of us. We got the car we wanted, great financing (with an add-on warranty) AND a free lunch! I took my car in for an inspection(2012 Mazda Miata) for a pre purchase. They told me my control arms were bad. They were right! But then also told me my air filter was dirty and NEEDED replaced.... WRONG. Next, they told me my yellow brake fluid is dirty and NEEDS to be changed.... WRONG, and my service dude told me the fluid is supposed to be clear not yellow. 100% false, I have never seen CLEAR brake fluid in my life. They found what was majorly bad, which is a plus. But I do not respect dealerships who lie to make money. My filter and brake fluid are not problems they just aren't BRAND NEW and Surcharged by 45%. Unless you need to buy a oem sensor do NOT service unless you're getting it done for free. Find an independent mechanic. read more

Nice people but extremely disorganized and sometimes less than honest. I have had numerous bad experiences in both their sales and service department. They say they are not on commission, but that is false. They get bonuses based on the number of cars they sell. They claim it's not commission because it's not based on profit margin. Personally I see nothing wrong with commission, it motivates people to help you. I DO have a problem with lying about it though. read more

They agreed. 2 weeks later I found and purchased a vehicle elsewhere and went to them to sale my vehicle as discussed. They backed out of the deal because based on information they had 2 weeks prior. I bought a 2008 Mazda3 here three years ago, and the process was easier than I could've imagined. As a first time buyer, I had no idea what I was doing. Looking back now, I can say I was probably too ignorant to buy a car, but, luckily, the people at Nelson Mazda were really wonderful. Benny was my sales guy, and he worked within my budget but also made sure I would get the best value for my vehicle. I happened to get the last 2008 that they had on the lot (in 2009), so it was a bit cheaper even though it was brand new, bought with 82 miles on it. Every time I've taken my car here for service, I've been told what needs to happen, but I never felt like I was being taken advantage of. The mechanics have always been straightforward with me about price and estimated time of service completion. Additionally, there's free coffee and a waiting room with a television while you wait. Mostly, I think it's about the people at Nelson. They seem to respect me as a customer, and that makes me respect them as a company. I'd definitely recommend them to any friend of mine. read more

I am not aware of the circumstances of the other reviewer's experience. However, everytime I have gone to Nelson Mazda to have my car worked on, I have found their service to be of very good quality and the staff to be both courteous and helpful in providing service for my Protege5. Granted, like Carmax - where I bought my Mazda - they have tried to get me to sell it to them on more than one occasion, they have also been very accommodating and flexible with my needs. They even corrected several botched service jobs by my former mechanic, which is why I started going there to begin with. All in all I have had nothing but great experiences with them. Case and point, when Firestone wanted to charge me about $175 to replace my malfunctioning signal relay on top of the $50 they charged to disable the faulty one to keep the battery from being drained further, Nelson Mazda only charged me about $60 for the part and $0 to put to instal it. Cheap pricks. I am SOOOOO glad I drove an hour and 46 min to get to this place, then the car that they said was still available had just sold. Then I was disappointed but they showed me a car that I didn't think I would like but I fell in love with. And then they said I would definitely leave in that car today. I have never bought a car by myself before so I was trying to understand the process and I literally got so stressed out that I cried which is beyond embarrassing. Then when I finally understood they magically got done "running the numbers" which I was so nervous about because the way they were explaining it made it sound like I couldn't get the car. THEN they said they would offer me $13,000 yes, $13,000 for my 2015 MERCEDES BENZ SUV. And to think I was going to trade it in for a MAZDA. Talk about a major downgrade!!!! They tried to make like $5000 off of me and I'm actually poor so I don't have that. And then they had the nerve to come over and EXPLAIN why my car was a POS and give me their business card like I would be looking to go there ever again. Terrible place, terrible day. read more

The Service department at the Antioch location is so extremely slow and ridiculously expensive! I've come in for an oil change and a check engine light was on. To diagnose and the oil change they said it would be $177! Now, two hours later, I'm still waiting and there is still no diagnosis! This is after i told them that most likely i would have them fix whatever the issue was as well! I would like to say that this is unusual, but I've been coming to this location for years and this is the norm. Expect a 2 hour wait at least for just the basics!
