I have trying lots of local optometrists and ophthalmologists over the years for my annual or once every two years eye exam and wanted to give Neovision a try. I usually want to and expect to have a thorough examination for my eye that my vsp primier insurance covers, including the advanced eye care like peripheral vision tests and others. One con was I tried asking neovision for the advanced eye care along with the basic one (the minimum that is done to get the prescription), but they said I had to schedule separately for that. I had been to other places where the doctor or staff does all the tests for the eye at the same time. Main tests done: Staff: lens initial prescription test Stuff: retina digital imaging Doctor: prescription vision test (fine tuning) Doctor: visual check of the retina The doctor did seems to cover the basics but I still got a feel that everything was rushed Pros: - staff and doctor are very polite - on time service Cons: - the service seemed very minimal and a little rushed I would give this overall a 3.5/5 read more

Update on my previous review: The women I spoke to on the phone about why I was not notified about my contacts delivery said she would call me back once she investigates what happened. I never received a call back. I ended up giving them a call towards the end of their day and I let them know they that no one ever contacted me back after my initial phone call in the morning. The women on the phone then proceeds to forcefully state that they did call me back and when I explained again that I never received a call she starts exclaiming that there must be something wrong with my phone. She was so rude and making it seem like all this was my fault. I don't know who trains these people but they definitely need customer service training and how to talk to people and deal with situations like this. The best part has to be the next day when I arrived to pick up my contacts I had to explain all over again asking why I kept getting the wrong information about my coverage and the contacts and why no one ever calls or emails me about information and again, like the other rude lady, they tried blaming me and my phone. I told her to check my information in their system AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT BOTH MY PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL WERE INCORRECT IN THEIR SYSTEM! These people love blaming customers instead of taking responsibility for anything. They didn't even offer to compensate me for all the frustrating issues I have been put through because of THEIR carelessness and miscommunication. read more

Only thing I can consider a downside - Long wait time until my eye exam appointment. I had it booked online. My recommendation is to plan ahead . I haven't gone to a lot of similar places for this same purpose. I can say that during my eye exam, the doctor that performed it was professional, thorough, and even explained to me in concise detail the purpose of the tests being performed along with the results. I went to see Dr. Tandon to get a report on diabetes effect on my eyes. I impressed on the fact this report was needed asap for my upcoming visit to endocrinologist. The staff assured me it will be done. Much to my surprise it was never sent. I called the office that will ho with Monday's mail. By this time I had no faith that in the staff following through. I asked the staff to call me when it is done. Again no call or report. Whoever is in charge of the office is not dependable. I was also told I have cataracts and a form will be sent to my family doctor for pre approval with a copy to me. Again this was not done. This office is totally disorganized. This was probably the poorest experience with a doctor I have ever had. Doctor was so busy she barely took the time to check my prescription and address my concerns about my watery eyes, and gave me a pair of contacts with a completely different prescription from was on the paper. Then when I called to complain they tried to blame it on me having "a lazy eye" which I do not have....just astigmatism. My prescription is still wrong and they're blaming it on me. I had LASIK with Dr. Tandon about a month ago. I am incredibly pleased by my outcome, the high level of service, and professionalism of Dr. Tandon and her staff. I chose her out of all the ophthalmologists in the bay area because she has incredible training. The institutions where she completed her training are well known and reputable. During my pre-op care there came a point where Dr. Tandon was questioning whether I was a good candidate for the procedure. She has no ego! She had no problem with asking a trusted colleague about my case. This put me at ease knowing that I did not have to seek a second opinion. She did it for me! She does her procedures out of LaserVue eye center in Mountain View. It seemed to be a very technologically advanced and clean environment. After the procedure the healing was quick. I went to work the very next day. (drove to work) I did have a worry the week of the surgery and I ended up contacting Dr. Tandon directly, at 9 pm. I was impressed she answered her phone after one ring! She is truly on call and available for her patients! She made me feel at ease. I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes. My grandmother got her eye cataract surgery here. When she went to surgery for her right eye they put the numbing drops in her eye. She was laying down ready for surgery and they came in saying they didnt order her glasses so she had to go home. For her left eye they got her chart mixed up (although they wouldn't admit it) saying she was allergic to medication she never took in her life. When she questioned them they just cut the wristband off and said to speak with her pcp about it. Shobha also asked before AND after surgery if she was taking blood thinners which my grandmother told Dr. Multiple times she never had to take blood thinning meds. Her I.V was not put in correctly, instead of fixing it they put layers of tape over it to keep it in her hand which ended up being swollen after her surgery. At pickup a nurse came out explaining care tips for after surgery and I soon realized she was talking to us about another patient who had a totally different surgery!! Another nurse came out after saying oh shes still in surgery sorry. The md here may be good at cataract surgery but the whole team seems disorganized and confused. Absolutely unprofessional and totally surprised there are so many positive reviews. Hopefully these are not fake reviews. So my experience was not with the Dr. but just with receptionist at mountain view location. After waiting for 90min at office and reminding, I was told that Dr. had some urgent patient. (I confirmed it was not emergency, but urgent). It happens, I understand. I decided to leave after 90min wait since I had to go for my meetings. Suddenly the receptionist becomes rude and says Dr will see you any minute , if you leave now we will charge you cancellation fee. Seriously!! This was last year or so. My wife convinced me to give them try again this year. I reluctantly agreed. She had called Union City location. They called back for appointment confirmation and said your husband cancelled "last minute" last year so we cannot give appointment again. This was the first time we went there for routine eye exam and glasses. While the office environment and people were nice but we figured after few weeks the new glasses they provided were not quite right. I started having bad headache when I wore the glasses. Even then gave some time thinking it might take some time to adjust. But no, it was wrong power. When I went back they said they can't change the glasses. Asked me if I have old prescription from last year so they can order new glasses with those old prescriptions using the coverage from the new year. What? No accountability for making mistakes? I recently got my LASIK surgery done with Dr. Tandon in December 2020 and want to share my outstanding experience. I have been wearing glasses for last 20+ years and for last few years had to move onto progressive lenses. If both my eyes were corrected for 20/20, I needed to wear reading glasses. I did not want to do that. Dr. Tandon suggested that she corrects only one of my eyes to 20/20 and leave my other eye at -1.5 so I can use that eye for reading. To evaluate how that was going to work, Dr. Tandon suggested that I wear contact lenses for a day. When I saw how well it worked, I decided to go with her recommendation. Neovision team did an excellent job with pre-op. They thoroughly checked my eyes to ensure that LASIK can help me. Helped me to decide the right correction by simulating what my eyesight will be lost LASIK using contact lenses. I was very apprehensive about the eye surgery as I have never gone through one. Dr. Tandon put me at ease by explaining to me in detail what I would be going through, describing potential complications and how they were going to handle it. On the day of operation, once again Dr. Tandon explained to me the entire process and took me through it step by step explaining at each step what she was doing. Entire operation was over in a few minutes. My wife drove me back home and by evening, I was able to see clearly again without any glasses!. It was fantastic!. They gave me a clear glass to wear while sleeping so I do not scratch my eyes and an outdoor glass to wear while walking to avoid any dust. Post Op care was excellent as well. I drove to Neovision myself the very next day. They checked me thoroughly to ensure there were no complications. I had two follow up appointments - a month later and another one after 3 months. I was also able to use my FSA $$s for the procedure. I am now extremely pleased with results. Could not be happier that I chose Neovision. Dr. Tandon and her team are highly professional. Dr. Tandon is very patient and built a great rapport with me and made me very comfortable through the entire process. The entire experience was way better than my expectations. Dr. Tandon explained to me that my eyes need cataract surgery which cause me to see blurry and hazy eyesight Dr Tandon did both of my eyes and the result was so awesome. From the first visit , pre-op, surgery and until the final examination, Dr Tandon was so professional. The service also by her staff was outstanding. But what really matters is how my eyesight have changed. Before the surgery, there's no difference between a DVD and Blueray. Whenever I play golf, I thought that it's just foggy or air is not clear. Night time driving has been a challenge for me. It's been only a few weeks after surgery and I can now see the real color of RED , GREEN, BLUE , etc all colors looked very bright and clear. I have been going to this eye center for over 5 years. They always overschedule patients and as a result, always run late. My husband also has had the same issue. The whole waiting time can take up to one hour and the whole exam takes about 10-15 minutes. I am honestly frustrated because this has been an ongoing problem every time. One star for actually carrying glasses for infants but that's it. They don't follow VSPs best practices of allowing prescription changes within 6 months for babies. Children's vision can change drastically and quickly. They only want to make a quick buck and don't care about keeping customers. We bought lenses and frames for my 1 year old. On my one-year LASIK anniversary date, I want to provide the Yelp community a recap of my experience. In January 2018, I selected Dr. Tandon to perform my LASIK surgery given her expertise and excellent track record with the procedure. I had two consultation appointments prior to surgery, in which the Dr. examined my eyes and chart history to make sure my eyes were stable and would react positively to the procedure. She also thoroughly walked me through what to expect with the procedure. My eyesight was -2.75 in both eyes. On procedure day, I admittedly was a bit nervous! The Dr. reassured me that the procedure would be quick, easy, and effortless -- and she was absolutely right! Everything felt really safe and I was pleasantly in & out of the office in no time. My wife drove me home and picked up something good to eat! Since the procedure, the Dr. has shown the ultimate personalized care and attention. I have had regularly scheduled post-ops following surgery at the following cadence: 1-day, 1-week, 1-month, 3-months, 6-months, and 1-year. During each visit, the Dr. personally examined my eyes and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. In terms of my vision, I instantly started seeing 20/20, and my eyes have stabilized at that vision level!!!!! It's truly a life changing procedure. Even more impressive, I was able to go on multiple international trips in 2018 - to UK, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Maldives, etc. - and my eyes never gave me any issues (even in all those different climates). I wake up every day and don't need to reach for my glasses or pop in contact lenses, what a relief!! I came for a Lasik consultation. The staffs are friendly. But I waited almost an hour. And Dr. Tandon didn't explain much until I asked questions. When Dr. Tandon check my cornea thickness, the first machine didn't work. After all examinations, Dr. Tandon said I am eligible for Lasik although my cornea is a bit thin. However, when I went to Stanford Eye Laser Center after my visit to Dr. Tandon, I was told my cornea is too thin and very asymmentrical and it would be very dangerous for me to do Lasik or even PRK. I would recommend go for at lease two places for consultation. Don't do any risky things to your eyes. But my friend had good experience with Dr. Tandon for the Lasik surgery. I want to express my dis-satisfaction with the lack of customer service I received today while visiting your Union City facility. The receptionist you have employed to greet and interact with your clients has horrible customer service skills and is very rude. Not only was she rude to me, but I witnessed her inferior tone with the client ahead of me. When I was the next fortunate guest, I proceeded to take my checkbook out to pay for my copay. She quickly blurted, "We do accept checks, cash and credit card only" Surprised, with it being a medical facility, and most of the medical facilities I've gone to accept checks... I replied that it would have been nice to have been told that when making my appointment. Kim replies, " Well we haven't accepted checks since we started..." Customer service 101 would've had her respond differently, maybe sympathetically. Not only was she rude when she advised that you all do not accept checks, she decided to take the opportunity to let me know that this has always been the policy; when I didn't ask how long had this policy been in place. For the record, I am Neovision's customer, I would think your staff would want to keep their customer's coming back. Because of this unfortunate incident, my four children who are patients of yours, myself, and my husband who is also a patient; will be taking our vision needs elsewhere. I will make sure the parents of my children's friend are also aware of the dis-service I experienced as well. Two weeks ago Dr. Tandon removed a pterygium from my left eye. This surgery should have been covered by my health insurance (Kaiser) but they wanted to wait until the growth was larger and more invasive. Dr. Tandon understood and agreed with my decision to have the growth removed. The cost was very reasonable and all inclusive. Dr. Tandon's office is very modern and professional. Her staff is also professional and kind. Dr. Tandon, herself, is very friendly and easy to talk with. The day that I had my surgery everything went according to the plan. The surgery was completed in less than 1 hour. Dr. Tandon volunteered to meet me in her office the following day to check on my eye, even though it was a holiday. We decided to wait 1 additional day, however. Since then, I have had additional check ups with Dr. Tandon and everything is going well. My eye surgery was scary and I was worried about how things would go but Dr. Tandon is a top doctor! She used the most up to date surgical techniques. My eye is looking better every day. If, in the future, I need any more surgeries on my eyes I would trust Dr. Tandon. The reason why I did not give 5 stars is because my surgery was done without any pain medication. The eye is numbed, so you don't feel much, except it's difficult to hold still for such a long time. I'm not sure what other doctors do but I would have liked some sort of medication to relax and sooth me ... Even so, it was fast! read more

I needed cataract surgery on both eyes and Dr. Shobha Tanton and her office personnel was incredible. The personnel is very, very polite and attentive to your needs and flexible with needed changes. Dr. Tandon herself is very personable, kind and patient about explaining every single detail to you to make you feel very comfortable about the procedure she is recommending. She's extremely knowledgeable and seems very comfortable explaining how things work and even the rare complications. Both surgeries went well and she "choose" to see me the next day each time which was on a Saturday (her off day). I was very impressed!! She used the Tecnis Intraocular Lens, Model ZMAOO which allows both distance and reading vision without glasses. Awesome. It just doesn't get better than that! The surgery center she works with was an awesome experience as well. I would give her far more stars if I could. I couldn't have had a better experience. Got a nice building near BART. Accepts VSP. They have modern equipment and a decent collection of frames. They are a bit on the high side for some frames, but still have some lower priced frames. Frames takes 1-2 weeks. Goodish Service. Great if you are near the center. Be prepared to pay a bit more for frames if you want "better" frames/lenses Edit: Downgrade due to fact that there are better places out here in bay area. Lasik may be fine but the frames are expensive and the exam is rushed. read more

I've been a patient with Dr. Tandon for almost 10 years. Their staff has always been very friendly. Just recently I had PRK laser surgery done and it was awesome! I had a couple pre-op checks to make sure I was ready for the surgery. The wait times to be seen were quick, and scheduling these appointments were accommodating to my work schedule. On the actual day of surgery, I woke up excited! The surgery itself felt like 5 minutes. I was able to see better after the surgery. The recovery for me was a couple days, there were moments when I felt slight irritation, but never pain. Dr. Tandon prescribed some meds which helped ease the irritation. I was able to drive 4 days after surgery and had 20/25 vision. I'd highly recommend Dr. Tandon to anyone, for yearly eye exams as well as laser eye surgery. She's a very caring Dr. and you will never be disappointed, and will always leave knowing you had a professional exam. She's cared for all my family and friends, and they are very pleased.
