My family and I (seven people) contracted Captain Kirk's to sail us out beyond the Golden Gate Bridge to scatter the ashes of my mom, who passed away almost a year ago. We departed Sausalito and headed straight out under the bridge, found a relatively quiet spot in the water and scattered her ashes along with flowers and a biodegradable wreath. Captain Sparky and Heather circled the yacht around the site for at least ten minutes while we engaged in individual, quiet contemplation. Heather even provided us with the coordinates for the site where we scattered the ashes! Then we began a 2 1/2 hour cruise around Alcatraz and Angel Island before returning to Sausalito. Along the way we were accompanied at times by porpoises in the water and pelicans in the air. We even spotted whales! The weather and bay conditions were "expected," meaning blustery and cold but totally OK with appropriate layering. Captain Sparky and Heather were professional, friendly, respectful, andunobtrusive. They made sure we understood all safety guidelines and practices. The entire experience was awesome and memorable! Captain Kirk's Tours dock at a location steps away from one of our favorite restaurants in the entire Bay Area--FISH. I booked for a memorial ceremony. Let me start off with the booking, it was easy and convenient. Sue, the staff member was able to answer all of my questions and if I had to contact her for anything her response time was within the hour. Today, I had an ash scattering memorial I had Captain Sparky, along with deckhand Joni. Their hospitality was great. It was peaceful, and the views were amazing. Captain Sparky brought us to Angel Island and the views were amazing. As we congregated and spread ashes Joni told us a legend and made us feel warm. The interactions were great between the two. I would highly recommend. We all felt safe despite some of us being afraid initially. Honestly, if you want something intimate where the people were just "people" you'd want to chose this company. read more

Our family had the opportunity to sail with Captain Kirk and crew on Sunday, May 22, 2022, on the San Francisco Bay to spread the ashes of our loved one. I found the experience to be very moving and memorial since he had served in the Navy. Capt. Kirk was very safety conscious, compassionate and kind to all our needs. He made sure we were comfortable. He was very informative about the Bay Area giving us bits of history. After the spreading of the ashes, we rang a bell eight times to indicate the end of the watch. We continued around the back of Angel Island where the waves were much smoother. We viewed dophins, porpoises, seals and sea birds. We enjoyed the day and would recommend to anyone wishing a nice day on the bay to use his service. read more

My husband passed away suddenly, and as it was always his stated wish for his ashes to be scattered by the Golden Gate Bridge, I investigated ways to do that, and found Captain Kirk's website. Captain Kirk arranged for Captain Doug and Dogen to take us out on the Bay Wolf. We had a beautiful sunny day, with calm seas for our journey. I really appreciated the very human way Captain Doug and Dogen handled the day, making us, especially me, feel as good as possible given the circumstances. Capt. Kirk was somehow able to make one of the worst things I've ever had to do (scatter my sister's ashes) a lovely and memorable day. He was very respectful of our "ceremony" as we actually said good-bye and helped us choose a quiet and peaceful location. While it's not a day I would wish on anyone, if you find yourself needing to scatter your loved one's ashes, I would highly recommend Neptune. One tip: The itinerary initially sent to us had some errors in it so I would double check this before your sail date. Once we noticed the error, however, Neptune was very accommodating and quick to fix the error. read more

My family of 11 including 3 young children sailed with Captain Mark for a celebration of my late brother's life. Captain Mark and crew provided a wonderful experience. We motored from Sausalito to beyond the Golden Gate Bridge where we paused to spread rose petals for him. My family young and old were assisted by them and our safety was foremost in their minds as well as helping us accomplish our goal. My grandson and granddaughter were able to "pilot" the boat, and it was the highpoint of the trip for them. We chose Neptune Memorials to spread my mom's ashes near the Golden Gate Bridge and we could not have asked for a better experience. The sky and wind were both in our favor and it was a beautiful day on the water. We saw harbor seals, pelicans and even a whale. Capt. Beautiful day. The sailing was peaceful and soothing. The crew was respectful of our needs. They allowed us private family time and tears but were also fun and informative, when appropriate, about the history of the area. Truthfully, I was dreading the "spreading" of my sister's ashes.
