I am updating my review below to five stars because this business took the time to correct it and was gracious about it. And despite this - never came back asking me to update my review. Me doing this is entirely on my own accord. I went back and they reapplied the keratin to my frame , I washed it this time prior to exercise (if you sweat a lot as I do, i suggest you wash your hair prior with any keratin) and my hair is frizz FREE!!! The lady who originally did my hair and is absolutely amazing was booked that entire day , so she had someone else do it for me. If this happens to you, please be sure to tip the person who is now helping you out. I know it's easy to think I already paid and tipped -- but this new person is still doing a service and helping out a colleague. You definitely aren't tipping the original bill , but a little small gesture that you can afford goes a long way for someone's day. I love this place and really do recommend it!! I did a Japanese treatment 3 years ago at a different salon and absolutely loved it, but because I have fine hair that has thinned out a lot, I was very skeptical to do it again. A few months ago, I started really considering it again and stumbled upon this place and saw the great reviews. Well, they proved to be true! I first went in for a consultation to ask all the questions I had about the treatment and about my hair, and both Kelly and Joseph were very honest, patient, and not pushy at all with me! Update: the owner "carefully reviewed my request for a refund" and of the 300$ I paid, he only reduced the cost of the toner (75$) because they stand by the work they've done, even though it looks awful. It's a joke to think these people are licensed professionals. This place is a total scam. After they ruined my hair ( which I will attach pictures of) the owner has the audacity to say they gave me exactly what I wanted. They have lied to me from the beginning. All I asked for was balayage, my hair was already brunette mostly virgin hair with light ends and I wanted to enhance it . The stylist bleached my entire hair blonde. All of it. She said it was a mistake, then the next day the owner said it was intentional and that the reference photo I showed is probably blonde and I just need toner. They then offered to fix it and they still left it blonde. I am in disbelief. The stylist told me she was going to get a refund. For more than two weeks she said the refund was already processing on the owners behalf who has on vacation and should be in my bank account shortly. Today I spoke to the owner and he said the refund was never even processing, the stylist must have panicked and that I actually was supposed to contact him seven days after the visit to start the refund process. I tried to contact him but he was on vacation. Now the full refund I was promised is under review and he said I probably won't get a full refund because they did so many things. I under stand the labor and money that goes into product, but my hair is ruined and I've been jerked around for three weeks with constant lies. I'm out over 300 dollars with hair that is uneven, damaged, and no where near what I wanted. Please do yourself a favor and go else where! Huge life saver on my hair. I have naturally very thick, wavy hair that is uncontrollable and difficult for me to want to wear down, especially in hot Miami. So naturally I would blow dry it straight and then flat iron it soon after in order to make it somewhat manageable. I was a little concerned how the experience would be and how my hair would look coming out simply because Nero specializes in Japanese straightening treatments and I was going in specifically for color. I didn't see too many reviews regarding coloring success stories so was a little nervous. BUT...now they've got a customer for life. Kelli did my color and conditioning treatment and was so attentive to my needs and wishes. I came in with some SERIOUS roots on top of color stripes from where my previous stylist used different formulas each time I came in, so my hair was a bit of a conundrum figuring out how to get it the copper bright color I was hoping for and blend in those color stripes and roots for one consistent, refreshed color. Kelli and Joseph made a game plan and Kelli absolutely executed on it. She even gave me styling tips for blow drying and curling my hair so I could recreate the salon blow-out look, As I was going through my hair treatment, I asked a bunch of questions about their Japanese hair treatments, and they were very honest and transparent about my candidacy (or lack thereof) for this hair treatment due to my hair health from multiple color treatments. They didn't try to sell me on it just to make money, but were honest about the need for me to treat my hair for healthiness first, make it stronger and softer and THEN evaluate whether Japanese straightening is a good fit for me, which was such a refreshing mentality. Yesss!! I have been getting my hair Japanese straightened since I was 18. (I am 32 now). I have been to good places and bad. I am kind of a Japanese straightening expert at this point. Lol! I recently moved to Mexico from California. One of my biggest concerns was finding a new salon I 100% trust with my hair as Japanese hair straightening has to be very precise and done by someone super experienced. One little thing- either chemical too strong or left on too long- can permanently damage your hair. Thankfully a friend in Mexico told me about Nero hair salon. She specifically flew in to Miami and spent the night at a hotel- just to get her hair done. After taking her advice- I did the same and couldn't be happier! Joseph Nero is "THE MASTER" of the Japanese Hair Straightening Treatment! I had my treatment done last weekend and I am THRILLED! I had VERY thick, curly, long, color treated hair and now beautiful straight, silky hair. I can't say enough about Joseph, what a professional, skilled and knowledgeable person. We had an initial consultation for him to evaluate my hair and to explain step by step what I should expect. I set the appointment for the next weekend since he told me the process, for my hair, would take about 5-6 hours. Had a good experience at the hair salon. I had a Keratin treatment done. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Alain did my treatment. Shampoo rinsing was amazing--very gentle and the head massage was soothing. My only concern was that the Keratin product used was super strong and caused my eyes to burn and get watery during the process. After leaving the salon, I had an uncomfortable headache for the rest of the night and started to develop a runny nose. As soon as I woke up, I had to immediately rinse the product out of my hair. As soon as I did that, I started to feel better. My hair is nice and manageable now though! I go to the gym and with all the sweating, I don't see a lion's mane anymore. :) read more

I have naturally curly, thick, unruly, coarse hair that would take me 30 minutes to 1 hour to blow dry. Joseph is by far the best hair stylist I've ever been to. I destroyed my hair with an AWFUL perm from another salon 8 months before I was getting married. I went straight to Joseph after seeing all the reviews online and he is truly a miracle worker. I wanted my hair to be chemically straightened (in the hopes of having a normal hair texture again) and he was completely honest with me - any more chemical processing to my hair would have ruined it. However, he told me we had other options for treatments that would build back up the strength in my hair and hopefully correct some of the issue. After a few visits, he was totally right! About a month ago I went in to get Liscio done on my new root growth, but my hair, always being difficult, didn't process the product correctly and it wasn't wash-&-go straight. Joseph fit me in his busy schedule & fixed it, for no extra charge! That is truly someone who stands by the quality of their work. I have been seeing Joseph for the past 2 years for Japanese straightening (plus usually I get a cut, too). The results have been FANTASTIC. I have been doing Japanese straightening for 8 years now and have always been pretty happy with the result, but Joseph does an even better job than my last guy (in NC). My hair is straight smooth and shiny with literally NO effort. I am a full-time working mom of two, so this saves me significant precious time in the AM. The treatment lasts in my hair until there is enough regrowth to drive me nuts (usually around the 6-7 month mark). The cost is on the high side (it is much more expensive here than it was in NC - but that's probably to be expected) but the experience is great and the time saved is so worth it (time = money anyway, right!??). After 3 keratin treatments , 3 Brazilian blowouts, and other various treatments and relaxers I believed my curly and frizzy hair would never be as straight as I wanted. When I found Joseph and saw his results on wet hair (the key) I was taken back and went in for a consultation. He was so professional and explained the process very thoroughly . He even took a small piece of my hair and tested the product on it to make sure it wouldn't ruin my hair and that it would actually work. He was also very upfront with pricing. At first I thought the treatment was too much for me to spend, but after calculating the money and time I spent getting blowouts and/or the time I take doing it on my own hair, I went for it. He told me that it would take 5 hours and I was out about 4 hours and 55 minutes later..this is how experienced he is. I also loved that he had his 2 other stylists helping out and this cut down the time I had to sit in the chair. After washing my hair for the first time today and letting it air dry, I am so taken back at the amazing result.
