I had asked two wedding photogs in the Ojai area to do the photos, but they turned me down saying there was not enough $ in it for them if they couldn't sell an album, etc. I had seen some of Nicks pix on the web and called him. We talked about what I expected, his equipment, etc. So, never having met Nick I sent him a deposit for a Sunday shoot. He took about 350 pix with one of the best cameras available today and all but five or six were perfect. I told Nick that I wanted pix of every person at the party , and lots of "area"shots - -like the food (catered), groups chatting etc. Nick was perfect for my job - -fair prices, super cooperative, came on time and didn't leave until everything had been "covered". They have such a great eye for photography and they were so fun to hang out with! During our initial phone call we talked for about 30 minutes, I felt like he was really trying to get to know me and also wanted to make sure we were a right fit for each other. He also did not pressure me to make a decision right away which I really appreciated because I am very indecisive. We did our engagement shoot first in Napa. Justin scoped out all the locations and kept in mind my overall vision into account. He even helped me pick out our outfits and gave advice on what would look best on camera. I think one of the best things about Justin and Kelsi was how much they loved our dog Winston. They knew how important it was to include him in our engagement shoot and wedding and the photos of him did not disappoint! Kelsi even held treats or his tennis ball above the camera to make sure he was looking at the camera. We both felt so comfortable and at ease during our wedding because I knew we had great and professional photographers that were going to take epic photos during the day. They are a calm, but fun presence to have on your wedding day and that's super important for a very hectic day. I also loved how excited Justin always was, even after so many years of photography, I knew he still loves what he does. They are an amazing couple and I wish I could work with them again and again.

With that said, Justin and his team has proven to be one of the best decisions we could have possibly made. With Justin, you don't simply get a photographer who signed up to snap a few pictures. You get a consummate professional who has been doing this work for decades, who went to school to develop his passion and then set off to hone his craft through repetition. Honestly, Justin is so good I didn't even want to call him because I knew there was no way that we could possibly afford his talents. But against my better judgement, we gave him a call, and he worked with us to ensure everything was in our budget and knew exactly what we were going to get. Now the major thing you get from Justin (aside from his ungodly talent) is the experience and professionalism that only someone with decades of work could provide. He broke down the wedding day for us, gave us a timeline even before we had a timeline set with our coordinators. He gave us the pros and cons of every aspect, such as should we start early, late, when to shoot, when not to shoot, etc etc. When we had questions, Justin had answers, when we were stressed, Justin provided that calm mentality to let us know that everything is going well, that we're on track. Honestly, he should get into the coordinating business at this rate :D Now onto the day of, Justin and his team were incredibly friendly, they were total professionals, and provided a level of service we couldn't have dreamed of. You can see how easily (perhaps i'm discounting his abilities here) he handles a camera, how he naturally blends into the background, how he stays out of everyone's way but somehow manages to take candid photos that looks like they were posed for magazines. Half the time I did not see him or his team. I had guests wondering where our photographers were, and some didn't even know we had multiple photographers (which is an amazing thing). He never grabbed us and posed us for a photo, he never asked us to stand here or stand there. He allowed us to have our wedding on our own terms, uncompromising, he allowed us to experience our amazing evening without pulling us out of our environment. He was engaging, and yet, didn't engage us directly. I honestly don't know how he did it, because the photos we received were freaking gorgeous. I honestly thought that the higher the quality of the photos, the worse I would look, but Justin's artistic talents proved that incorrect. His ability to frame shots were simply artistic, his lighting superb (even though we had a November wedding so sunlight was a scarcity), and the fidelity was absolutely breathtaking. Justin was also so down to earth, he was a professional yet he spoke like us, he laughed and joked with us. He eased our anxiety when he knew we were stress. Justin was absolutely one of the best vendors we had at the wedding and we had amazing professionals assisting us every step of the way. There are many regrets you have by the end of the day, did you do this right, did you do that right, was this vendor worth it? Was that money worth it? Why did we pay so much for that? Why didn't we pay enough for this? With Justin, we had zero regrets, ZERO. He captured moments we would have otherwise lost, moments that I was too overwhelmed to see, moments that would have faded into nothing 10-20-30-40-50 years down the line, moments that I wasn't there for. Although we may be done with Justin for now, what he has given us will be remembered for the rest of our days, maybe even our children's. So I would say, if you are on the fence, if you have any doubts, if you are looking for more than a photographer, a genuine person, Justin Lee and his team are your people. They will treat you like family, and in the end, you'll as familiar as family. His laid back style and easy going personality just makes it so much easier to work with him. He is one creative photographer who always tries to come with original photos. Browsing through his work you will notice that he doesn't have those set poses that keep repeating photo after photo seen a lot with other photographers. In fact, every time I see his photos I feel that I'm re-discovering Morgan all over again. He did our engagement session (complimentary) as well as shooting our wedding last October and the result is simply amazing. We have had so many compliments on the photos, that even today a friend e-mailed me saying that the photos are so beautiful that she doesn't get tired of looking at them - now that's a compliment! From the get go, we didn't want to be posing for photos, we wanted our day to be described through the images as spontaneous as possible, and that's exactly what he delivered. They were hired because they were our daughters friend and gave us a "deal" on the shoot. I shouldn't have taken the deal, the pictures are such poor quality for reproduction. Many family shots were missed, i.e. Mother/daughter, parents and bride...etc... When asked I was told it was my fault! I have several shots of my son in law with his head cut off! It's a shame that I don't have a nice picture to hang on my wall of my daughters special day.
