Netcost is a great place to find Eastern European goodies. I love their prepared food section which has a lot of traditional foods such as salad olivier, Korean carrots, beet salads, cheese and cabbage pastries, desserts. They also have an amazing selection of deli meats. I also love the quality of caviar that they carry, much higher quality and better price than other grocery stores. Read about this market on an article, finally decided to visit, I have to say they didn't disappoint me! There were many unique items especially snacks which would made them very good for holiday gifts. They also had a wide selection of international goods as well as everyday essentials, in good price just like their name! I can't read all of their stuff (in Russian) but it's making my grocery run quite fun! However they don't have the prepared hot food area anymore as the old photos shown on some reviews because of the pandemic. All prepared food were boxed and refrigerated as I could see. read more

I was in Northeast Philly and wanted to check this market out. It has a lot of good Yelp reviews and I also like a good food adventure. Found it here. It is a supermarket that specializes in Russian and East European foods. Aside from a nice selection of fruits and vegetables you will find countless prepared foods both hot and cold. They have a huge selection of fish, smoked and fresh. They also have an enormous selection of teas from all over the world and if you like honey an equally enormous selection of any type off honey you can imagine. The cheese department is also full of interesting items, tons of basket cheeses. Lots of items are on sale if you get a store card. There are several senior days where they take 10% off your order. A really fun place to shop for exotic items. I will be back. read more

Netcost is great. If I lived nearby this would probably be my main grocery store. They have a good and very reasonably priced produce section and a wide selection of Soviet Bloc goods. My toddler is extremely devoted to their frozen pelmeni that you scoop out of a freezer into produce bags. I think he mostly has the right idea. Their takeout by the pound food makes a convenient and affordable lunch when I venture out to the far northeast. read more

Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience with this store. Especially with salesperson OLGA who is working in delicates department. She was very rough, inpatient, unprofessional, agued, even insulting. The worst of all, she absolutely HATE her job. I called the manager, who was completely useless and Olga stayed to him, "I am tied of everything." She should never ever be part of Netcost team. I am updating my review... Love this place and love that I can find things to cook a good Ukrainian meal, however I get that Ukrainian goods may be hard to come by due to current situation. I am very disappointed that where Ukrainian imported goods once stood, Russian products are taking their place. This is not ok in my eyes and unacceptable. read more

The best Eastern Europe grocery. I'm from south Philadelphia and wish they were closer!

Netcost is an awesome place for grocery shopping. I travel around half an hour from Southern New Jersey to visit this location. There are two Netcosts in Philly and this is the newer one. It is clean and bright. My main reason for the trip is the prepared foods. Although I am a South Philly Italian, I have an affinity for Eastern European food--and in particular, syrniki. Syrniki are Tvorog Pancakes. Tvorog can best be described in western speak as "farmers cheese"--somewhere between cottage cheese and ricotta cheese. They are sweet and sinfully delicious. Netcost's syrniki rock, as do all the prepared foods, including the "sweet" beet salad, sauteed cabbage, and all types of prepared fish, chicken, rice, all types of olives, soups, cutlets/meats, and salads that can only be seen to get a good description. Words fail me. I have never seen such an extensive tea and honey aisle. Most labels are in Russian, but if you look hard enough, you can generally figure out what it is--if not, grab an employee and they'll help you. Their deli case is stocked with salamis and kielbasa, cheese, and lunchmeats. But the magnet to many souls will be the smoked and dried fish. Admittedly, I did not know what most of them were, but if they're ever sampling, I'll test it. As an Italian, I've always thought Italy to be the pinnacle of the baked goods craft. But the tortes, sweet "dessert" pierogi, sweet baked I-don't-even-know-what-they're-called goods are not to be beaten by any culture. In the back left hand corner will be baker racks--buy everything you can from these usually three racks. The second reason I make this journey is for the frozen pelmeni. I buy pounds and pounds of these and return to Netcost once my freezer is empty of them. My favorite are the Siberian. Try each and every variety. They also have a Halal version. Their fruit and vegetables are always high quality, and like any other market, certain times of year are better priced than others. I have scored some really good deals on mangoes and tomatoes, but not on my latest visit which was 12/22/17. They have vegetable and fruit varieties I have not seen in any other market, and for some reason, they have a ton of different apples. I noticed many different colored carrots on my latest trip. I cannot say enough good about this market. If there were one complaint, is that the hours are a bit odd--they are open 9 to 9. The late opening is a bit rough for me, but if that's my only complaint, that's certainly a win in anyone's book. read more

I really enjoy this store. They have a great selection of fresh produce, including more exotic fruits and veggies, like aloe, cassava root, persimmon (from Israel) Jack fruit and lots more. They almost always have some great prices, including on organic fruits and veggies. They have a great salad bar, with, respectful of Covid-19 time, everything individually wrapped, instead of the usual open salad bar. Same goes for their bakery-- a great bakery-- my favorite place to get fresh Pumpenickel bread, and occasionally Russian desserts. The place is oriented to the Russian and Muslim community. Their butcher shop is really solidly stocked with high quality halal meat. I just got the nicest brisket cut I've been able to find anywhere, at a really reasonable price. A few months ago we were working on a project to make kefir. We asked some of the employees for help. The first person we ask connected us with the right guy to ask and he was really friendly and helpful. More recently, we were working on making Tiramisu. You need Mascarpone cheese to make it right. We went to several other supermarkets, including Giant, and they didn't have it. Net Cost did. They have an amazing range of cheeses, many of them with labeling in foreign languages or foreign alphabets. Bottom-line this Net Cost market is a lot of fun to go to to find and discover new foods, to get great prices and to find the stuff that's hard to get. I'm only giving it four stars because they could do a better job of dealing with Covid-19. They don't clean the shopping carts. They don't offer wipes to self clean them, and too many times they've had a security guard with his mask on his chin. It's too bad. The people working there are almost all great. read more

You guys! This place is kinda cool! I'm a sucker for a good ethnic market and this is certainly one. Not only does it have "regular" market food, it also has: -A fantastic variety of Russian, Uzbek, Bulgarian and other Eastern European gems. -The largest smoked salmon department I've ever seen. -The largest variety of apples. I've never seen so many different kinds. Not even at an orchard! Some I've never even heard of! -Rare'r' fruits like pomegranates, kumquats, persimmon and HUGE tubs of pomegranates seeds! At a steal too! -Caviar selection to make "The Rich & Famous" jealous -self serve, pay by lb. frozen pirogies and dumplings of all kinds. -Over a half a dozen soups from Borscht to cabbage to the kind that grandma used to make. -salad bar with all sorts of amazing, unique cold healthy salads. -hot to go bar for a quick din in a pinch! (If you enjoy the Uzbek restaurants this area is known for, you'll notice some of your favorite dishes in the to go section here! Fried potatoes with mushrooms is my fav!) -any kind of fish you could imagine. -fresh baked breads of all kinds!! -drool worthy pastries. -thick, cut to order bacon for you bacon lovers out there. -a very impressive honey and tea section! Fellow veg-heads, steer clear of the meat department!! Beside the normal bloody meats, I happen to unfortunately see skinned rabbits, turkey necks, veal tongue and cow feet. Ugh. Almost vomited. Prices were very fair! Tuesday's are 10% off for seniors. Slight language barrier, but not a big deal. If you're local and are used to Bell's Market and some of the Uzbek/Russian restaurants up this way, you'll be very pleased here. I will definitely be shopping here again when I'm in the area. Kiddos ate their .89 round seeded loaf in 2 seconds flat. Hubs enjoyed his almond cake too. The salads I sampled were delish! read more

Bread! This is where you should come for bread. My husband from Finland loves rye bread and the crusty oval bread from Netcost makes him drive all the way from Maryland so he can buy this bread at this supermarket. I am originally from NYC, so we have our fair share of Netcosts but this one is my favorite compared to the ones in NYC and New Jersey. It surprises me because it is tucked away in a little town outside of Philly. Also, salad bar from here is great and my favorite is the beet salad. read more

Store is kept extremely clean and well stocked. If you take something off the shelf a worker will replace that item very quickly. Great place to go for desserts! There is more bakery items and chocolates than you can even imagine. Non-food items up in front of the register. Yum yum yum, I love this market! Their bakery offers fresh baked sweets and savory goods. Salad bar has everything from pasta salad, stuffed peppers, fried fish to blood sausage. I went in this past weekend to grab some fried tilapia, wings and Russian peirgoes (cabbage, potato and cheese and chicken) filled. It's worth it to go in and explore tour taste buds. read more

I LOVE this grocery store. There's a huge selection of Russian foods including homemade dumplings, kielbasa, & desserts. I like trying something new each time I visit. The produce selection is amazing. VERY CHEAP and everything is fresh! You will spend twice as much buying less fresh produce at a regular grocery store. This place is really cool! I had never heard of it before but I was in the shopping center for the first time for an appointment so I decided to look it up on yelp and give it a try. I mostly went to try out the prepared food bar since I wasn't in need of groceries. I was surprised with how many different options they had, and how unique all the foods were! I'm not very familiar with Russian or European food so I'm excited to come back and try more things. I ended up getting the homemade pierogis and some sort of prepared chicken that were both very good. I browsed the store and it was really cool to see all of the different foods that you don't normally see at a typical store which is where I always go. They also have a great selection of produce! I love this market. The workers are more than helpful and will translate if you ask them about any product. They have all kinds of international items that I cannot find anywhere else. Their hot bar and salad bar rivals Whole Foods (exciting, I know). Now lets get to the good stuff: I could spend hours in here deciding on what tea to buy. They have the best selection of prepackaged tea bags of any supermarket, hands down. They have both herbal and flavors. I was able to do find my favorite dandelion root tea here. The worker actually showed me ANOTHER aisle near the medicine that had more medicinal teas. My other favorite is the selection of smoked fish including smoked salmon. All different types and cuts, mini filets, etc. This place also has all sorts or Candy Eggs for kids. They have the infamous Kinder eggs and a few other brands that i get for my son every once in a while and he loves the toys inside. read more

Terrible service, always would have to check the prices otherwise they might be incorrect, sale items never ring correct .There is no reason to ask for a manager because manager never knows what's going on and cannot fix anything anyway. I went here twice when they first opened and then never came back until last week. While I was impressed with the store when they opened I had a bad experience with a security guard (mentioned in other posts) who looked like he should have been part of a SWAT team not guarding a grocery store. I was also put off by the tip jars that each cashier had at their station. It's a pet peeve of mine. While looking through the Northeast Times a few weeks ago I saw an ad for NetCost with a $10 off coupon if you spend $50. Never one to pass up a good coupon I decided to revisit the store. Great move on my part! I will be back here every week. What a great store. It's sort of like what would happen if Bell's Market merged with Whole Foods. Not only do they have a tremendous Slavic selection but they have products that you would probably not find in most standard supermarkets. While searching the shelves for Mirin I came across coconut vinegar, which I have never been able to find locally. They have all sorts of surprises on the shelves. The produce selection is amazing and displayed beautifully. I bought some fish, amazing variety, and the fellow behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. And the store is incredibly clean. Alas, the tip jars are still in place but after an overwhelming positive shopping experience even I was able to overlook them. read more

Net cost also sells nuts, and honestly, we found that the nuts from net cost are the freshest out there ( compared to Whole Foods, acme, giant, trader joe and etc). The prices are terrific and they have lots of organic products. Their fancy cakes are both pretty and delicious. They have an aisle of tea. The store is very nice and clean, maybe because it's brand new. Huge selection of food items and produce. In terms of the prepared Russian food.. I have tried several items over multiple trips and have been disappointed each time. One advantage over the other Russian stores is that all the hot and prepared food is in a self serve salad bar type setup. As I write this I am trying to eat some bakes potatoes that extremely dry flavorless and maybe slightly undercooked at the same time? Another benefit of coming here is that it's never crowded like it's other rival Russian stores. However I think I'll keep going to the alternatives. read more

My Russian friend turned me into "Korean carrots". It's a Russian version of Korean carrot kimchi, just fabulous! My addiction to the carrots had me going to Netcost for the first time. Visited this location today (Saturday ~4pm) for the first time and the first thing I noticed was lack of customers. In comparison, the Leo Mall site is mobbed every time I go, regardless of the day of the week. For example, at the Leo Mall store, it may take a good 30 minutes sometimes to get lunch meat. Conversely, today at the Welsh Road store, there were only 4(!) people, including myself at the deli counter. Product-wise, the same items you see at Leo Mall are also found here. What is different is their ala carte food stations where you can fill your take out containers to the brim with whatever whets your palette. Also, standing by the exit is a security officer, but judging from the lack of customers to this location, there is not much to secure. :) I know they just opened earlier this year, but this store is not nearly as busy as Leo Mall. I guess part of that reason is due to Giant being literally right behind them on Grant Avenue. Nevertheless, they took a huge gamble by opening at this location and I wish them good luck! read more

Love this store. Especially their prepared food section! They have about 5-6 different soups and over 20 delicious prepared entries, and like 10 salads. The food is always fresh and tasty.
