Catherine's hospital because she was verbally abusive (due to her dementia) and they said they weren't equipped to handle these outbursts. I did not realize that a facility could indiscriminately evict a person from their home. All her belongings are still there. My mother has dementia. She cannot live alone. That's is why we decided to have her live at the arbor's. Worst decision we made as a family. There is little to no communication with the staff in order to get updates on her care. They only call you when there is an issue. If your family member has "too many issues" they don't want them living there any longer. I thought as an assisted living facility the staff would be of assistance but much to my chagrin they were not. They were rude when you called, did not relay messages and when asked for a care plan meeting it took weeks to get one scheduled. Please, please do your research. They obviously only want "well-behaved" residents. So now we have to scram to find a new place.

Following our dad's death, my siblings and I placed my mom (who has moderate-stage Alzheimer's)here for temporary respite care while her house was being sold...with the plan of having her move to my home out-of-state. When the end of the respite care was near, our mom expressed how happy she was there and expressed her desire to stay as a resident. We were hesitant at first, but thought we would give it at least a few months to be sure she enjoyed it. Does she ever! Almost 6 months later, we have never seen her happier. She is in a unit with other residents who have similar difficulties (the "Transitions" unit) where she receives the assistance she needs, great socialization and numerous activities. She has even gone to several "field trips" to outside restaurants. The facility brings in wonderful outside entertainment for their residents, and organizes activities for the residents and their families. The shared areas and individual rooms are kept impeccably clean! I would encourage anyone seeking an assisted living setting for themselves or a loved one to make an appointment to visit. After seeking a placement for several weeks, I found that there was no comparison between this facility and others. There are several different units of care aimed at the level of residents' needs. In addition, I found the pricing to be slightly less than several others in the area.

Being in a situation of sadness, confusion, and helplessness Tiffany was by our side through it all providing us with a plethora of information that would help not only our mother but our family as we tackled each obstacle that came in our way. Our mother succumbed to her illness on 2/13/25, it is with Tiffany's determination and endless hard work we were able to bring mom home with hospice where she was able to spend her final days with her loving family reminiscing, laughing, and us loving her with every part of our beings. After moms passing Tiffany continuously reached out to us to make sure we were not only mentally doing alright but continued to offer guidance with our next steps through this while process. To say that Bridge a way for Seniors and Tiffany are a Godsent is an understatement, I don't know how we would have done this without them. We not only look forward to working with Bridge a way for Seniors again in the future and we will absolutely be recommending them to all our family and friends in need of guidance. The hours of operation are also amazing. As many places do not start until at least 9 AM. However, with my work schedule that is not doable so I'm very appreciative that they start at 8 AM and they end by 4pm. I am really happy that she is in such a great environment and gets to do things that she may not be able to do otherwise. I'm looking forward to her celebrating her 90th birthday with her new friends.

I signed a contract to a different location in Nassau County prior to him visiting what would have been his new home and community. Needless to say, my father father was miserable in the place I signed him up for. He stated that no one showed up for the scheduled activities and it lacked social interaction with his new peers. My father and I were still grieving the loss of my sister, he had been through so much in a short period of time, including the fact that he moved away from his friends and home in Florida by moving to New York. It was crucial that we found the place my dad could happily call home. I researched many communities, however, this time I had the benefit of bringing my dad on the tours so that he could decide for himself where he wished to settle in. The Arbors was his pick! Lisa gave us the tour and my father was warmly greeted by the staff as well as the fellow residents. The Arbors offers a plethora of activities everyday and my father is hardly in his room. It's a warm and friendly environment. The staff is attentive and my mind is at ease since I know that my father's medical needs are addressed. My father has been residing in The Arbors since 2023 and continues to tell family and friends that he is "living his best life" and has absolutely "no complaints". He has a beautiful apartment, which is cleaned everyday by the staff...it's as if he's living on a cruise ship, except it's on land! Big Thanks to The Staff and Residents at The Arbors, you've made my father and I so happy :)

Do Not Bring Your Loved Ones to Whisper Woods of Smithtown…read more Choosing an assisted living facility for a parent is not just a logistical decision...it's an act of love, trust, and heartbreak all at once. You're entrusting someone else to care for the person who once cared for you. You're placing their dignity, safety, and happiness into the hands of strangers, hoping they will be treated with the respect every human being deserves. We made that choice. We placed our faith in Whisper Woods of Smithtown. And they shattered it. When my mother entered Whisper Woods, she was mentally sharp, socially vibrant, and full of life. She made friends. She laughed. She was the first to show up for bingo, and she never missed an arts and crafts session. She brought light into that building. Then, without warning, without discussion, and without a single medical evaluation, Whisper Woods forcibly removed her from her community and locked her into a dementia unit. No consent. No explanation. No inclusion of the family who had stood by her side for over six years. We were stunned. She was not confused. She was not cognitively impaired. She was not lost. And yet they treated her like she was. We sought outside opinions...three to be exact. Each expert, without hesitation, confirmed the same truth: my mother did not belong in a dementia unit. And so, we moved her. We found a new facility that saw her for who she truly is: a fully competent, independent, intelligent woman. Today, she is thriving once more free to wheel around in her wheelchair, to laugh and to make friends again. But the damage Whisper Woods inflicted still haunts us and her...an 86 year old woman who worked all her life to be treated with respect. When she was first relocated within Whisper Woods' building, they promised she could continue seeing her longtime friends upstairs. That promise lasted barely a moment. When her friends asked if she liked her new unit and she replied honestly, "No," Whisper Woods retaliated. They banned her from leaving the floor. For telling the truth. For having feelings. And then, they came after our family. I, her daughter, was told I could only visit her in her room. No outings and no shared spaces. If another family member came to visit, we were confined together isolated, boxed in, as if we had done something wrong. Even more shocking, they would not allow me to take my mother out of the building...not for doctors' appointments, not for lunch, not even for family events. Her world shrank to a single hallway. She told me through tears: "I feel like I'm in jail." The staff became so disengaged from her care, so distant from the reality of who she was, that nurses claimed they didn't even know she could speak. This wasn't care. This was imprisonment. This wasn't oversight. This was a complete failure of humanity. We have filed a formal report with the Department of Health, not just for our own peace but to protect others from this kind of trauma. What Whisper Woods did was not only unethical. It may very well have been unlawful. Please, if you are reading this learn from our pain. No family should be forced to watch their loved one fade because a facility refuses to listen. No one should be silenced for speaking up. No elderly woman should be punished for telling her truth. Whisper Woods of Smithtown did not just fail to protect my mother they stripped her of her identity, her agency, and her dignity. I urge you with everything in me: do not place your loved ones in this facility. They deserve better.
