I found Cherry on Yelp and messaged her just a few days ahead of the Tuesday night event. She responded with her quote and the relevant details, and after mulling over whether or not to spend the money, I secured the appointment with a deposit the night before. She only had a 1:00 slot available, but she was able to come to me, meeting me in my hotel room. She arrived right on time with an arsenal of beauty supplies. I liked her immediately. She was so friendly and energetic, and said flattering things about my skin, obviously music to my 39-year-old ears. I had a great time hanging out with her. She asked what I was looking for and I said I was walking a red carpet and just wanted to look good. She took me through her overall plan and started with my eye makeup, layering on colors and checking in to see if I was okay with the level of drama. I didn't know enough to weigh in and let her do her thing, and less than an hour later, I was fully dolled up. She even put fake eyelashes on top of my already fake eyelashes. To be honest, I was a little worried at first. I looked very dramatic for two in the afternoon, and I wondered if I'd let her go overboard. Once I was dressed and at the premiere, though, I felt fairly confident and comfortable and got lots of compliments. I walked the carpet, the second time I've done that in my life, and stood and posed awkwardly for a million photos. I've seen the pictures from both events and am really glad I got my makeup done this time around. The bolder makeup just worked better with those bright lights. I'm not professionally pretty (I'm a writer, which is, if anything, an ugly person's job) so it was fun to get my face painted and hang out with the attractive people who go to television premieres. I found Love Lane when searching for a closer alternative. Downtown is 3 miles away and the walk is very pleasant; it is a treat by itself. Add to that, the pleasant environment of the salon and the cute area it is situated. Plus, they did a very good job in taming my unruly curls into a sleek undamaged mane. They offer you drinks. (Not booze), but nice iced sparkling flavored water. It grounds you into a zen sate of mind. The perm straightening does not smell of chemicals. You don't get burning eyes during the process. The perm looks better and better as the days go on. Not sure what brand they are using. I remember when the keratin perm first began, the stink of the ammonia and the fumes would burn nostrils and eyes. Love lane has become my regular spot. I must be a very boring customer for them, because I only go there for the silk press and regular trims to the ends. Nonetheless the treat me well.

Overall, it was a very efficient and pleasurable experience that started at the shampoo bowl with a relaxing hair shampoo service. I really liked my length before and wanted to keep it but maybe take off an inch... really just wanted a trim and some shaping. I even showed her exactly how much I wanted off the end before she cut. I noticed there was more hair coming off than seemed normal and when she showed me my new length she had cut off more like 4 inches. The shape was also completely wrong. I was very clear about my goals but ended up with a haircut I really don't like and now have to wait months to a year for it to grow back out. Definitely depleted my confidence. Would not recommend for a cut - the blow out was good though, but didn't use heat protection
