I was baffled and just asked for her name and ended the call ... We went to Courtyard 280 ‍ It just so happened that my friends picked SKA for brunch today, Saturday. I'd resolved that I was going for the company and would put all of my past experiences aside. My food experience had been prior the food truck and brick and mortar. So I was open to giving them a chance. I'm so so glad I did! They refer Saturday brunch as a Day Party. It's on the louder end of the spectrum, which is perfectly appropriate for a day party vibe. There was a DJ ... at some point my friend asked, Are they playing GloRilla?!? lol! I'm a fan so it was fine. Our waiter had great energy and he was attentive. The decor is nice. We ordered the mimosa flight. They were good, 4 flavors - strawberry, mango, blueberry, peach - not too sweet. I ordered shrimp and grits. The grits were thick (that's how I like them) and well seasoned. The shrimp was plentiful! was not over cooked at all. There was shrimp in most every bite. I'd recommend this. My friend ordered the fried catfish and grits and said she enjoyed it. The biscuit tasted canned - it wasn't needed though. This was a nice experience!

Birmingham Restaurant Week has ended and I am happy I got the chance to try some new places so I can tell you all about them. So let's get right into it. First up is The Lil Bougie Foodie INC. What brought me to them is what I saw written all over their food truck. It said Home of the Bougie burger, so I was very intrigued. So I ordered it after asking what all came on it. I don't fully remember what was all on it and unfortunately I tried to find it only but there is no description of it I could find so I'll do my best here. Like I said I ordered The Bougie Burger (A LA Cart). It had cheese, bacon, tomato, pickles, onions, lettuce, and bougie sauce. Oh and two smashed patties. This burger was good. In my own opinion it was lacking just a touch of season and I wish they had given me more of the sauce on the burger it was like I know it's there but wish I had more of it. Also I was disappointed I received bacon bits on my burger instead of actual slices of bacon (not sure what was going on there). Also on the picture it looks like there burgers were served with White American cheese but I received Yellow American (yes they taste different to me), don't get me wrong I love yellow American so it didn't bother me at all. Anyways this burger was very good would 100% get this again and can't wait to try what else they have on the menu. I give the burger a 8.9/10. I jumped at the chance to try this place out because of the reviews of other Yelpers. The restaurant is sitting on the corner of Pelham Parkway and County Road 68 East, across from The Foundry Superthrift Outlet and Dollar General, and next door to TherapySouth. It is a nice sized place and the atmosphere is welcoming. I was helped by Dyron, who seemed like he never knew a stranger. He was so kind to everyone, including those on the phone. I even heard him say, "So we got your dad covered - what can I get started for YOU?" He was excited when he found out I was a "newbie". I love the menu. Each item has some form of "hit" in the name - slappin', crackin', slammin', and more. I ended up with the "Bussin' Burger" and a side of fries to go (since I was heading back to work). The food is cooked upon ordering, so my meal was nice and hot when I left. And I am here to tell you, the name of the burger was totally accurate! It was delicious - seasoned very well, and the perfect amount of toppings. The fries were good, but that burger - so good! No wonder Hit Different is a 2026 Shelby County Small Business of the Year Nominee! They deserve it and then some! Do yourself a favor, listen to the other Yelpers, and head down Highway 31 for an amazing meal at Hit Different! I am going back!

For starters, we had the Bama Fries. Very tasty. I had the Hittin Chicken, hubs had Fish and Shrimp, and the little one jad kids chicken tenders and fries. The teenager wasn't with us. Everything was very tasty. The board greens and cornbread was delish. Overall, a yummy place to eat. We will be back for sure.

They seemed to be the only vendor offering the standard kid friendly food truck item. It comes with choice of dipping sauce for $8.00. What we received were 3 cold, old frozen variety chicken fingers and cold old fries. The food we received was cooked much earlier. It's not as tho they were busy. They didn't have to serve us garbage but they chose to. So my intent to go back and try a flatbread vanished immediately. My daughter choked some of it down. My son who will eat anything call it gross. I'm not a fan. It may have been decent cheap frozen food at some point but they willingly served me the stuff they had cooked several hours prior, so I will not choose to give them another shot.

This thing was juicy, oversized, and required a concerning amount of napkins. The pickles were crisp, the peppers had the right bite, the mustard was exactly what it should be. Everything hit. The only thing missing was that neon green relish that looks radioactive but somehow makes a Chicago dog official. I kind of missed it. A little. Then I got adventurous. Mistake number one. I ordered the Beef Sandwich, what I can only describe as a sloppy joe with a pickle on top. It sounded bold. It tasted... fine. Not terrible. Not memorable. Just sort of there. It's like I betrayed the hot dog gods and they let me know. My colleague went with the burger, which Tony's is apparently campaigning as "best of" material with the local news crowd. The cheeseburger was so good well seasoned full of flavor and the two kinds of cheese on it just worked. Only thing I felt was for the price I paid I wish it was a bigger patty or at least a double but still good. 7/10 As for the fries so good just needed more seasoning on then. 8/10 This is yet another black owned food truck you need to follow and check out ASAP so good!
