This past Friday, I was dropping off donations at The Foundry, and noticed that Hit Different was right across the highway. I jumped at the chance to try this place out because of the reviews of other Yelpers. The restaurant is sitting on the corner of Pelham Parkway and County Road 68 East, across from The Foundry Superthrift Outlet and Dollar General, and next door to TherapySouth. It is a nice sized place and the atmosphere is welcoming. I was helped by Dyron, who seemed like he never knew a stranger. He was so kind to everyone, including those on the phone. I even heard him say, "So we got your dad covered - what can I get started for YOU?" He was excited when he found out I was a "newbie". I love the menu. Each item has some form of "hit" in the name - slappin', crackin', slammin', and more. I ended up with the "Bussin' Burger" and a side of fries to go (since I was heading back to work). The food is cooked upon ordering, so my meal was nice and hot when I left. And I am here to tell you, the name of the burger was totally accurate! It was delicious - seasoned very well, and the perfect amount of toppings. The fries were good, but that burger - so good! No wonder Hit Different is a 2026 Shelby County Small Business of the Year Nominee! They deserve it and then some! We are in the area looking at houses. Hubs transferred jobs. We stopped in. Nice and quaint place. The staff is super nice and friendly. Must be that Southern charm. We chose our own seats. For starters, we had the Bama Fries. Very tasty. I had the Hittin Chicken, hubs had Fish and Shrimp, and the little one jad kids chicken tenders and fries. The teenager wasn't with us. Everything was very tasty. The board greens and cornbread was delish. Overall, a yummy place to eat. We will be back for sure. read more

My daughter and I stopped by on a Friday night. As soon as we walked in, Zanetta greeted us, and our server Neko offered some great recommendations from the menu. I wanted some fish, and they fried it perfectly; my daughter's burger was huge. They cut it in half, so I tried a piece, and it reminded me of that sweet, homey flavor of my mom's burger. The sides were also good. That pound cake sent me straight to bed because I ate so well. Neko also told us about brunch on Sunday, so you already know we went on Sunday. If you haven't been to this location, come to Pelham and try them as soon as possible. Everyone is so friendly, and their brunch waffle and chicken fingers are my favorites. I actually heard about Hit Different BBQ & Grill from a commercial on a local radio station, so we decided to check them out. Apparently, they've been open for 2 years, but just got a new outdoor sign (which looks great). IMO, this was definitely needed because we weren't even aware there was a restaurant in the plaza. When we got there, it was somewhat packed and the staff apologized in advance that they were a little slow, due to one of their employees had called out. I really appreciated their honesty and they were very communicative the entire time. After looking over the menu, I ordered the fried pork chops meal with mac and cheese and collards and my guest ordered the pulled pork with fries and sweet potato casserole. When I say this food was good, it truly was!! Now beware, the staff cooks the food to order, so please be patient. But this food was absolutely delicious!! They give you two pork chops, which were fried golden brown and seasoned very well. You can tell the batter was also seasoned well. Those pork chops were so good, we placed another a la carte order to go! The mac and cheese was cheesy and very moist and the collards tasted like your grandmother's collards. Everything was seasoned very well and served hot and fresh. The pulled pork with fries was very tasty but I do wish it came with a slice of bread, but that sweet potato casserole was everything!! You don't have to wait until Thanksgiving to eat that casserole. It was very delicious and each dish to the main dish to the sides, were homemade! Last but not least, we also tried their peach cobbler.... OMG!! My guest had to get us out of there because even though we were full, we wanted to continue ordering because the food was just that good! That cobbler was so buttery and delicious. Gessh! We also got to speak with the owner (sorry, can't remember their name) but they were very nice and apologized again for the wait (which we definitely didn't mind). They also told us they offer catering services and they have a food truck, so even you can't stop by the restaurant, make sure you support their food truck. We were also told they have brunch on Sundays with a live band, so we will definitely stop by again to try their brunch, which I heard they offer salmon croquettes!! I had no idea this place was open until I started seeing random reviews on an app I have. So, I had to try it. I went in on a Friday and the wait was a little long but the food was piping hot! I ordered the Pullin' Pork Sandwhich with baked beans (a little on the very sweet side to me) and lemon pepper okra, fried hard (could have used more lemon pepper seasoning). FRIED. CHICKEN. If you want amazing fried chicken, this is the place. I wish I had taken pictures before we dove in. We had the whole wings, cut wings with sweet chili sauce, fried okra, collards, Mac and cheese. Sides were fine, the chicken blew us away! Service was very friendly and attentive. We tried this place last night. My husband saw it and wanted to try a new bbq place that wasn't a chain. First of all we had no idea this place was here and now that we do we will be going back. We ordered the buffalo fries which were amazing. The chicken was tender, you could tell the ranch was made in house and they didn't hold back on toppings! We both got pulled pork sandwiches which were also delicious and the pulled pork was nice and tender, the sandwich was a good size. I couldn't even finish it. I loved the bbq sauce. The okra was delicious although I would love to try the seasoned okra next time. We were checked on multiple times. You can tell the owners really pour into this place as far as serving fresh food and customer service. I truly hope this place last and more people give it a try. My wife and I went to HD BBQ for lunch today and I had to write a review. Was greeted right away and they were so nice! The owner even came to our table and spoke with us. Service was excellent and good was even better. I got the ribs and they are so good. Tender enough to pull off the bone but not so mushy you can pick them up and eat them. Mac and cheese was awesome too!! My wife had the pulled pork and lemon pepper cried okra and both were excellent too. We both got the collard greens also because if they got greens on a menu you gotta get em and they were just like I remember my granny making them. This is my new fav place and we will def be back! On September 10, 2024, My Sister in Christ took me to this restaurant because we were wanting Brisket because when we Google places it came up stating they served it. However, to our surprise that didn't and we ended up getting ribs, coleslaw and collard greens. However, both our ribs were tough and not tender. But, the BBq sauce was good. The collard greens weren't seasoned enough and the coleslaw wasn't amazing at all. The High price lemonade was supposed to larger than a regular drink but when it came to the table it was the same size as a regular drink. Phyllis told us we had to order at the bar but I did see 3 tables whose orders were taken at their table so why did have to sit at the bar to order? I give it 3 stars only because management was very professional, courtesy and very friendly to us. But, the food needs improvement. read more

Wanted to try a new restaurant one night and had heard great things about Hit Different. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese and greens. My husband ordered the fried chicken, French fries and Mac n cheese. My son loved his cheeseburger slider meal and strawberry lemonade. We all loved the chicken! The seasoning was amazing. The greens were so good! The service was impeccable. All members of the staff made sure our glasses stayed full of that delicious lemonade and made sure we were loving our food. Best experience at this just discovered gem. Hamburger was fabulous. The owner was so friendly and brought us a sample of the bbq which was so tender and delicious. When asked what was the most liked on the menu, the owner said catfish and ribs but we were in the mood for burgers and fries and they didn't disappoint!! Decided to visit Hit Different for a late lunch due to the rave reviews from family members. First of all, I was greeted at the door like family. The owners were extremely nice. I ordered fried catfish, baked beans, slaw and lemon pepper okra. Everything paired well together and tasted great. Hush puppies were a pleasant surprise. I really appreciated the okra not being heavily seasoned with lemon pepper. It was just right. Everything was cooked to order and the portions are big. My order was to go so while I was waiting the very kind owner gave me and the other patrons that were there a sample of their hot and bubbly peach cobbler. It was sweet and candied. The cream cheese and lemon pound cake was moist with just the right amount of sweetness. I will definitely be back to taste more menu items. There is also a Sunday brunch with live music to enjoy.
