    Marron Glacé
    Seby I.

Apart from superb Belgian chocolates another confection is sold at Neuhaus especially during the festive season. Marron Glacé in plain, cognac or rum is sold here. The French and Japanese adore this delicacy and so do I. When I discovered that Neuhaus was selling them and at $6 I was thrilled. Despite the expense these marron glacé were tender and oozing with flavor. I went twice to buy six each. Shawn and Lizette helped me. I like going to the Grand Central location a lot as it's convenient and although small the store is literally packed with chocolate. For me, it's a dream!

Wanted to try something new for the sweet fix and found about this place through Yelp. Nestled next to the Double Tree hotel, this shop is extremely small - being able to only fit two people if following COVID protocols. There are a bunch of pre-packaged option against the wall if looking for a quick getaway. However, since there is no price-difference if selecting a custom assortment, opted to do that instead. Decided on the Small Assorted ($27 incl. tax) - a wide array of chocolates including gingerbread, marzipan, truffle, lavender, and more. Particularly liked the gingerbread chocolate, not so much the marzipan. Staff worker was super helpful as she patiently described many of the items and tied a bow around the box at the end. A solid choice to give for a gift or to even try on your own.

This place is always a great time. I tend to come here whenever I need a last minute gift and these guys always have amazing gift sets around the holidays. Pricing is good and in my opinion and the quality of their chocolate is superior to their more well known competitor. If you're in a pinch and need something for a significant other, family member, boss, etc

The store is pretty small but it has all the essentials! Great selection of chocolates, as well as nice variety of chocolate bars and gift boxes. The lady working here was really nice and friendly!

This place is a tiny chocolatey the size of a closet but it's full of flavors and has a simple selection of truffles, cordials, and other treats. If its not Valentine's Day I sometimes go here for chocolates instead of the near by Godiva. On my last trip the lady working at the chocolate counter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with chocolate selections. She was very friendly and wrapped the chocolates so nicely with a beautiful bow. And what I like best is is every few weeks they come out with a all new chocolate theme and packaging, so it the the same gold box every time.

Directly beside my hotel is Neuhaus chocolates..... I was doomed Trays & shelves of delicious chocolates in dark & milk varieties.... only trend I saw was that most everything had hazelnuts in it, in one fashion or another Indulged in the following: * Rose ganache - soapy * Jasmine ganache - delish & subtle * Cinnamon Choc square - creamy & cinnamonny....my fav & I cleaned them out of their stock * Peruvian dark - creamy & rich triangle shaped blob w/ hazelnutty filling Overall, I'm a huge fan - creamy chocolaty chocolates at more than reasonable prices

Séduction: Handmade nougatine, filled with a smooth butter cream with a subtle note of refreshing raspberry

If your a fan of praline or gianduja (or belgium milk chocolate), this the chocolate shop to stop. A few favorite pieces: Cornet d'Oré, Sapho, Caprice, Pagode, Astrid, Passion Amande, Tentation, Plasir, Bourbon 13, Mephisto, Coeur Praline, Louise, Suzanne, Jean, Adeison, Galerie, Fredric, Prestige, Millenaire, Milk Napoléonette, 1857 ... and more, but those are the ones I can pull off the top of my head. Yeah. They're that memorable. It is a small shop, almost walked right over it if I didn't have a rip-tide radar for Neuhaus. Staff was helpful and readily introduced me to the new chocolate assortments on the wall and chatted with me about the selection in the case. I was able to make a 25ish piece selection for about $44ish and they packed it in a nice sturdy box with a bow (points for presentation and travel-safe arrangements). Compared to other ny shops, the bang for your buck is noticeable: the pieces are three times the size of (let's say) La Maison and a better price. Be prepared to be impressed by the praline, gianduja or creams. Go to Teuscher if you're in the hung-ho for champagne truffles. I have not tried the liquor filled chocolates (though they're on my list). Looking forward to the Easter eggs in the Spring.

    Heaven in a bag!

My favorite chocolates! The bourbon vanilla was outstanding! But really it's hard to go wrong.

The Neapolitan White Chocolate (NWC) variety is part of their limited time spring collection and was first introduced in 2020 (to the best of my knowledge). I'm going to begin with a brief tangent for those of you unfamiliar with Neapolitan Ice Cream. Supposedly it has its origins in the cuisine of the Italian city Naples and the Neapolitan immigrants who brought spumoni to the U.S. Spumoni is an Italian dessert that uses three different flavored (vanilla, cherry, and pistachio) layers of ice cream that resemble the Italian flag. Americans would put their own spin on it by replacing the cherry with strawberry and the pistachio with chocolate. Moving back to the NWC truffles, the outer shell is comprised of a smooth and creamy white chocolate infused with strawberry, while the equally smooth core is a melty milk chocolate and white chocolate truffle. Although Neapolitan is not a favorite ice cream of mine (fruity ice cream is not my thing), Lindt absolutely nails it with all three flavors clearly coming through. Like all the other truffles I've tried from Lindt, the texture is phenomenal. I was a bit skeptical going into this one and only picked these up out of curiosity when I spotted them on clearance. If they could win me over, then you have to give these a try if you're a fan of the ice cream flavor. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews My Favorite Lindt Truffles: 1. Birthday Cake 2. The great reviews and overall rating along with the fact they had an emphasis on sour beers (my wife's favorite style of beer) made it a no brainer. Also as you have likely seen they are a women-owned operation so another positive. We did mistakingly walk by it at first but quickly found it. It's a beautifully designed space and more unique than your typical brewery space. Also speaking of they have lots of drinks other than beers, including wines, ciders, cocktails, coffee and a couple NA beers. Due to the impending storm they were closing early but my wife and I each got a beer. I got their New England IPA called Sun Up which was citrusy and juicy with a touch of bitterness/hoppy notes. Then my wife got their fruited sour Peach Berry Punch that definitely had a punch of pink guava and peach but the berry was more subtle. Two great beers with plenty of other styles available too. Service was friendly with a smile and took no time to get our beers. Such a positive experience we plan on returning to give their cocktails a try! An absolute must visit for beer lovers who find themselves near Bryant Park! (Also non-beer lovers since they offer so much more too.)

I am a devotee of dark chocolate, and have tried every dark offering it has. Each is superb, even flavor combinations I haven't historically adored (like orange and chocolate - I know it's popular, but it's just not my favorite). That said, my personal favorite is the Anastasia, a hazelnut and dark praline enrobed in dark chocolate. It is exquisite. Service is always excellent. I've ordered in person and over the phone, and have always been so pleased with the staff. The website is helpful when ordering a variety, but if you'd like an entire box of Anastasia, for example, you have to call the Rockefeller Center store and place the order by phone. They ship once a week, and I always have my box fairly quickly. Boxes make terrific gifts ... including for yourself. If you're walking in, I recommend sitting down to enjoy a few pieces of chocolate, then taking the rest in a box with you. There is a cozy but comfortable seating area in the back just for this. This area is also an ideal place to enjoy some of their drinking chocolate. Highly, highly recommend.
