Miss B was p/u 8am- 5-11. She sneezed; smelled funny when picked up, which I mentioned to your staff. She was very lethargic and by 2pm -5-11 this is what she looked like. I called 5/11@ 2:19pm about purulent drainage from eyes / nose. She had not been in contact with any other dog. It's highly unlikely that she got THIS SICK within that time period. My pup and I moved to Minneapolis in February and our first order of business was to find a new daycare/boarding facility. My girl has severe separation anxiety but thrives at daycare. I have been soooo pleased with Fun City Dogs since we started using them. She now goes everyday while I am at the office and sometimes on the weekends when I need to run errands or have some time out with friends. The staff are so caring and love my girl! My dog stayed there once just to see how he would liked it, he didn't even want to leave, so I was happy, I decided to boarded him over the holiday weekend and as soon as I drove up, he knew exactly where he was, super excited...the staff here is amazing and understanding as I was feeling anxious about boarding since it was my first time, but I walked away, knowing my dog was in good hands. We recently started using FCD's with our new puppy ..due to restrictions of covid. We were worried about her lack of socialization with other dogs and people. We talked to FCD about our concerns and they were happy to show us around. Let me tell you, this has been such a win-win for us. We can drop our pup for an hour or hours, we can watch her o webcams anytime which has been really helpful for us to see her behavior away from us. The staff is fantastic, they let the dogs be dogs without excessive rough housing. There is always someone with them. (there as a female red haired handler that I thought was a little too quick to step in and put dogs in 'LONG time out', but that is the only negative comment I have on handlers in with the dogs) They are priced reasonably and we are even thinking of boarding our pup for a few days, something we NEVER would have considered in the past. Our dogs, Mika and Kluwe, love going to Fun City Dogs!! The people are nice, friendly, and the owner is a foster mom for SecondHand Hounds! We actually rescued our girl Kluwe from her :) Our other dog, Mika, has some separation anxiety so we never brought her to a dog daycare for overnight visits knowing she would be alone, crated, and scared the entire night. Now knowing that Fun City is staffed 24/7 and the dogs aren't crated at night, we don't hesitate to bring Mika there to spend the night! My dog, Louie, loves coming here for daycare. Whenever I say the words "daycare" he gets so excited! The staff recognize him and call him by name when he arrives for drop off which I appreciate. I recently dropped off my dog over the holiday weekend to Fun City Dogs. After I picked him up I noticed he had a large amount of worms in his stool. My dog is fairly old so he goes to the vet at least once a month. He just had a full body exam, stool check and all; my vet and I can confirm that he did not have worms before his visit to Fun City Dogs. When I expressed my concern to the owner, she was rude and dismissive. My dog is not new to boarding and he does not stress out over being away from home. I asked and paid for very specific care for him and I was not satisfied with the service received. I asked for a refund or at the very least some form of partial compensation and the owner then proceeded to 1) Guilt trip me by stating people gave up their weekends to care for my dog 2) raise her voice at me for even daring to ask for a refund and argued until finally 3) she hung up on me. I have never been so disrespected as a customer or distressed dog owner and am incredibly disappointed in this business. Take your dog elsewhere, you won't regret it. read more

This review is only for the adoption event that this place hosts for the Underdog Rescue Inc on Saturday afternoon. I think that's a nice gesture. This place is conveniently located and there are lots of parking at their lot and the streets. When we walked in, you could catch a whiff of the smell of animals but then your nose will get adjusted and it might not bother you as much. There were lots of barking and the place sounded lively! The adoption event was set up at the front of the business, but you could peek over and see a section of area where the customer's dogs pace and play with other dogs. It was fairly clean. There were many dogs up for adoption at the event. They were labeled in different pens that indicate if the dog needs a new home with other dogs or not. There was a pen for the independent ones. And there was also another pen for the dog who didn't behave and was on time-out. Quite a fun event! My only complain was there wasn't much communication or information provided unless you tap someone's should with the Underdog t-shirt and ask how it all works. It could be a little confusing if you are shy. But it's not Fun City's fault. I am still grateful for them hosting such a great event! read more

In my search for other daycares in the cities, I stumbled across Fun City. I am appalled at the lack of care I observed via their webcams. There are rarely staff on the floor supervising the dogs. For example, I have been watching a dog terrorize another dog for about five minutes, with the smaller dog clearly giving signals they are scared. On another webcam, staff huddled and talking to eachother while this poor little guy is just terrified. It's going on ten minutes that a dog has peed and pooped and nobody has noticed. Staff looks uninterested, bored, and appear to have little to no dog behavior experience based on the way they shove dogs that are simply playing. There is a blanket on the "play floor" and dogs are shredding it and probably ingesting pieces of it while staff just looks right past. One dog has been sitting in the corner without any interaction from staff for at least ten minutes. Do they have access to water? The only water I have seen is shooting out from the squirt bottle the staff is using. Before you consider bringing your dog, please please please just watch the webcams. If there is this much lack of care while the webcams are rolling, I have to wonder what is going on in the areas we cannot see. read more

Today was my first visit to Fun City Dogs to try the indoor dog park. It's late February -- my dogs have gone from winter-bored to catatonic with cabin fever. They needed a place to play with other four-legged (and one three-legged) friends. Enter Fun City! During the frigid months, Fun City offers an indoor park each Sunday, with a section for lil guys and another for big fellas. I have two scruffy secondhand hounds, but with all the attention they got at Fun City, you'd think they were competing at Westminster! For two hours, they romped, ran, and interacted with other dogs and people, and I eventually ended up sat on the floor with my doggies snoozing on my lap. That's an excellent Sunday afternoon for dogs and humans alike. The staff working at Fun City are solid, which is the most important thing in doggie daycare. I plan to try their grooming service next; after a horrendous grooming experience at a chain store, my dog's going to need extra TLC. read more

We are very happy with our (dogs') experience at Fun City Dogs! Our dogs have boarded in the Brainerd Lakes Area, Denver, Bismarck, and Grand Forks, and the prices are very similar for all-day playtime and nighttime boarding. We have two large breed shelter dogs that we don't kennel, so having open areas rather than kennels is a great idea. They are also very active (both hunting-breed mixes) so getting them back exhausted and happy is exactly what we hoped for! The dogs have no injuries and don't seem tense or nervous at all, like a few other reviews indicate. Moreover, most dogs don't eat regularly in new environments, so we aren't worried that they didn't eat their full servings daily - that doesn't reflect on Fun City. One of our dogs had a paw pad injury prior to leaving him at Fun City, and the owner actually checked in on him and applied a salve to his foot several times at no extra cost. When we dropped the dogs off the first time for daycare, there was a lot of barking, but the staff mentioned that it happens a lot during times when new dogs are being introduced into the play areas. We dropped them off this weekend for boarding and the place was fairly quiet. Today when we picked them up, Fun City was doing an adoption event and lots of people were coming and going, but there wasn't much barking and none of the dogs seemed upset or stressed. Plus, it's very cool that Fun City supports animal shelters! Bonus: This place is just a short distance from the U of M Hospitals, so if you are rushing to the Cities for a family emergency like us, this place is very available with long business hours, large spaces for dogs, and webcam access for us helicopter dog- moms. read more

Our little buddy, Henry, loves it here. He's a shy guy but hasn't had any trouble getting his play on here. We also look forward to watching HenryTV as there are webcams on both the small dog and large dog play areas. We always see a staff member nearby the dogs when we watch. We even see Henry score a cuddle from time to time from an employee. He's stayed over one night so far. It was a test run to see how our rescue pup would handle it. The staff mentioned that he crawled up in the chair them and snuggled by their neck. I think that's pretty high ratings from someone who is afraid of his shadow. We get his hair trimmed here too. It's nice that he can play while he's waiting to get groomed or waiting for our pick up. This totally beats hanging in a kennel which is a nightmare for a past puppy mill dog. We have a boxer/ terrier mix who LOVES this place. He goes bonkers every time we take him there. The staff is very friendly and knows our dog by name. We've brought him for daycare many times and boarded him for two to five days at a time. When we were stranded while traveling and our dog had to stay a couple extra nights, the staff took great care of him and made us feel at ease. Our fella is a couch dog, so the fact that he gets to snuggle up with his buddies on a sofa at the end of the day is a big plus. And we love the webcams. The cameras have allowed us to watch how he behaves with other dogs, as well as how the staff interacts with him. He can be a little high energy, and the staff handles him really well. Just came from Fun City after dropping my sweet dog off for two hours. They get two stars because she was delivered back to me alive and well (if very smelly). But I would never go back. I dropped her off at the appointed hour (1 p.m.) and when I returned to get her my phone said 2:59. There was no one at the desk when I arrived so it took a couple minutes for them to retrieve my dog. Then I was charged for THREE hours of daycare. Their system counts one minute over as an hour's charge, and it doesn't matter whether the delay is on the customer's end or theirs. Shoddy business practices. Last year I brought my dog in for daycare a few times and it was okay. The first day I walked in I watched a large dog literally jump from the big dog play area to the medium dog area (the half walls between the two areas around around 4 feet high). Guess what? Not a single employee noticed. It made me nervous to leave him there because, in my opinion, they don't keep a close eye on them. Reluctantly, I put him in for a trial day around 5 hours. It turned out fine. He left unscathed and tired. However, this holiday season I decided to leave him overnight for 2 nights. Bad idea! First off, when you walk in, the place is sketchy. I was hoping their new place would be better than the old warehouse and it is basically the same thing. Looks the same just slightly bigger. It is just a large warehouse with terrible acoustics so the sound of dogs barking is deafening. The floors are just concrete so they look terrible and are even more terrible for dog's feet. In fact, when I picked my dog up, he had a bootie on (which I immediately started thinking the worst happened to him after reading other Google reviews) and I was informed that his paws were all torn up. The worker explained that it sometimes happens with active dogs because they run around so much. This is unacceptable! He only had one bootie on when all 4 paws were so incredibly raw that they should have been on all paws. I was also informed that someone tried to call me. I had my cell phone charged and on me the entire time he was there. Not ONE missed call. They tried really hard, huh? I would have drove back from up north at 3am to pull him out if that were the case! He could barely walk and is still limping today :-( I understand that is not entirely Fun City Dogs' fault. He is incredibly active and loves to play with other dogs. However, investing in some soft rubber floors might be a good idea. Also, when I picked him up, they had no idea who he was. 3 full days at Fun City Dogs and they were still like - which one is he? Huh?! I have been to Pampered Pooch Playground for daycare and when we walk in, even if months have passed, they know his name and temperament. This makes me think my poor pup (who loves to be petted and just be by people) was barely paid any attention to. Plus, aside from dogs barking, there were dogs aggressively barking like they were fighting. Unfortunately you can't see the animals from the front desk but I heard tons of yelling at the dogs. They also use water bottles to spray dogs who are misbehaving. I do not agree with this method ONE BIT! Yelling and squirting a dog should never be the answer. How annoying for the employees to have to carry around a water bottle all day. Not the best obedience practice and only leads to dogs not trusting the employees. In addition, they gave me his extra food when I picked him up (I packed just enough food for 3 days - all individually packaged and with the instructions '1 bag, 2x/day'). Only 2 bags had been fed to him. The others hadn't even been opened. We came home and he feasted as if he hadn't had food in days. So sad. Although this is not Fun City Dogs' fault because they had just recently moved, the webcams were not working so I was unable to watch my dog for the 3 days. They posted some photos on Facebook to make up for it but my dog was not in any of the 60 photos they posted. Finally, when we returned home, I brought home what seemed like a different dog - like he had been put through the ringer and just had the worst experience of his life. He was obviously tired but towards my other dog he was weirdly aggressive and he had NEVER shown aggression towards her before - EVER. They are best friends! He was possessive over food, toys, and treats and even growled at me (NEVER HAS DONE THAT BEFORE!!) when I went to pet him. It was SO weird! He even took a treat and went and "buried" it in the couch. So strange. However, he is getting back to normal after lots of hugs and reassurance that he is safe now. I decided to give Fun City Dogs 2 stars because there are some positives about it. My dog cannot be kenneled due to his high anxiety surrounding crates. I applaud Fun City Dogs for creating a no-cage environment. I also appreciate the webcams (when they are up and running) because it keeps the employees accountable and gives dog parents so peace of mind. Also, the dogs are supervised 24 hours a day which is nice. Although I am not sure how well they are supervised, there is a least someone there in case something happens. So in conclusion, I will never send my dog here again. I feel like such a terrible dog mom for putting him through that hell but I'll make it up to him with lots of love and treats (which he obviously didn't receive from "Fun" City Dogs). But make your own conclusion - these were just my experiences. I have read other reviews on other sites of people that love it but I should have trusted my instincts because the moment I walked in I felt uncomfortable. read more

This place has been a godsend for us! Our young, energetic lab mix just loves it there and we never worry about him while he's there. The best part is that you don't have to call for reservations and you can pick your dog up until 8pm which works well for my sometimes erratic schedule. They are happy to give tours and the owner, RyAnne and staff are all so friendly and know my dog. I have a hard time believing James S.'s review as whenever I have called to ask questions or inquired about anything, the staff is always forthcoming and calls me back. My dog had a great time here! I was happy to find a boarding service where my dog would get lots of attention as well as play time with other pooches, and not have to be locked away in a 6 x 6 room for 20 hours a day. We boarded for 10 days and she came home happy and relaxed - she got a vacation too. I was impressed with the large warehouse facility - lots of room for dogs to run around inside and out. Do not take your dog here if they have energy or are playful We have a 1.5 year old lab mix who has a lot of energy. We did not want him in a kennel and Fun City Dogs says on their website, "All Boarding is free roam with NO CAGES. The dogs are allowed to play all day and sleep in a living room environment at night". Our dog was put in a kennel most of the 6 days he was there. We never saw him on the cameras outside of the kennel, we were watching multiple times a day for hours. On the website they state that "We also have traditional kennels for dogs that are not spayed or neutered, elderly dogs, and dogs that are not ready for a daycare atmosphere." Our dog is neutered, young, and goes to the dog parks multiple times every week and has never been in a fight with other dogs. Our dog has a lot of energy and likes to play but even around multiple aggressive toddlers has never been aggressive himself. We had brought him to FCD at least 4 other times for daycare and we were never told, until this experience, that he had been in the kennel on these occasions as well. If we would have been told this, I would have taken him to stay with family members. But, I thought Fun City Dogs was taking care on my dog, I was so wrong. When we finally got back to Minneapolis we were told point blank by the owner that Fun City was not equipped to handle our dog. Why were we not told this sooner? The owner just says we are right and apologized. I don't think she ever planned to tell us he was kenneled, the only reason we know is because we asked. When we got our dog out the door, we realized that the top of his nose is rubbed raw and covered in seeping scabs. I am assuming this is from shoving his nose through the gaps of chain link for 6 days, wanting to get out to play. Staff did not inform us of this injury, and I can only assume it is because they paid him no attention and didn't even realize it was happening. This experience completely ruined our Thanksgiving with family, we worried about our dog the entire time. We will never take our dog to another boarding facility after this experience. Please, never take your dogs to Fun City Dogs. If you are thinking about it just watch the webcam footage of the staff on the weekends, nights, and holidays, if my review hasn't scared you away, that will. read more

I was not called when my dog apparently got into a fight, leaving two bloody wounds on his neck. No phone call--I came to pick him up, and he had injuries. When I spoke with the Fun City owner, they informed me that he was "fine", and that the other dog was also "fine". It's bad customer service to not inform owners of such incidents, especially when the wounds are still bloody. It's also poor management to not have enough staff on hand to be close enough to the animals to break them up if something happens. read more

Lila Marie is a little over a year now and she's been going Fun City Dogs since she was 3 months old. She's learned things at day care that I never could have taught her at home. She's learned how to socialize with a huge range of dogs - big dogs, small dogs, old dogs, etc. She swims in the pool in the summer time and has even learned how to put her face under water! Putting her in day care, in particular Fun City Dogs, is the smartest thing I've ever done with any dog I've ever had. She's happier, more alert, and I think it's even helped in her mental development. My other dogs before her just lay around the house waiting for me to get home and had nothing to do until I walked in the door at night. Lila has her own friends - her own life. Staff is not required to have any prior experience with dogs. Most employees have never worked with animals before. (This is fine... except for my next point...) There is no training done with new employees. There is a 2 hour "trial" period, in which a potential hire is placed in a pen with an employee, "trained" and from that point on allowed to be in a group of 20 or more dogs. There is no training on appropriate, inappropriate, dangerous or scared behaviors. There is no training on how to break up a fight or how to handle a dog. There are no areas for tired dogs to rest away from the group, leaving many dogs irritable and bad fights break out daily. Over busy holidays, a group of dogs may exceed 50 to one person. (Professionals in the realm suggest between 10 and 15 dogs to one person.) This leads to my next issue. Screening for daycare and boarding dogs is unbelievably poor. There are dogs at Fun City that are allowed to stay, only because the owner of the dogs is willing to pay out. Many dogs allowed to stay there are dangerous to other dogs or people, but because their owners continue to pay to take their dogs there, the owner of Fun City keeps them in the group. Many of these dogs attack other dogs, or people. Employees are accused of being bit on purpose for workers comp. If a dog is attacked and has puncture wounds, proper cleaning is nonexistent. Unless if an injury is bad, it is never reported to the owners. (If you bring your dog, check them over, every day.) Scuffles, bumps, and bruises are extremely common when dogs are in large groups together, but Fun City experiences a high quantity of bad, dangerous fights. Some of these fights, without intervention, could easily end in death. Because of this, employees are often bit in redirected aggression when breaking up fights. When fights occur, there is no safe area to house a dog while it cools off. Fun City touts being kennel free as it's best selling feature, but anyone who delves any deeper in the dog world knows how important it is to have areas of safety for dogs. Dogs that need to cool off during a fight will still be stuck in a high level of arousal because they are still exposed to all the activity of the other dogs. The no kennels and no areas to move away from activity is awful for boarding dogs. They have no areas to remove themselves and nap. No kennels or crates IS NOT A POSITIVE. Even allowing crates without the doors, would improve the facility and the dogs wellbeing as it gives a safe area to sleep and hide out when the dog is uncomfortable. But this costs money, and the owner does not want to spend any extra money. Dogs will not eat their food because they are so stressed. Feedings are done in the holding pens, and all the other dogs are allowed to sit feet away from the dog eating. This tends to cause two things, either the dog refuses to eat, or the dog eats so quickly and lashes out aggressively, feeling that the others are going to eat their food. The stress levels are incredibly high in these dogs. Due to the high volume of dogs, individual attention is nonexistent. Attention must also be limited to certain dogs because it can cause fights. The cleaner used at the facility is incredibly corrosive. Even when diluted immensely it causes cracking, burning, and bleeding of the skin when in contact. The floors and walls are cleaned with this cleaner. Animal safe cleaners are available at a slightly higher cost, and the continued use of the current cleaner is an attempt to save money, as the owner would rather save money than increase the safety for both workers and animals. You are entrusting your dog to be kept at a facility where most of the employees try their hardest to keep your dog safe and healthy, but fail due to limitations set in place by the owner of the company. The owner sees your dogs as money machines, and not as members of the family. read more

I watched my dog for the first time on the web-cam. No one interacts with him - the workers seem really bored - just walking back and forth - ignoring the dogs - randomly spraying water on some of them - for no apparent reason. The floors look awful - the dogs just pace back and forth. One woman finally came in to say hi to the dogs - they were so excited and happy. I thought my dog was having a great time - but now I know that is not the case. He has been pacing for at least 5 hours. Fun City Dogs is a life altering wonderful positive amazing place. My foster Jack Russell terrier "Tucker" came back exhausted and over a 4 month period, became much more socialized around dogs in general. I came to Fun City Dogs fully expecting to pay. However...they took Tucker for free. I was shocked. I could have never managed without Fun City Dogs....lovely heartwarming place. No kennels...it was the perfect place for Tucker. I've been a loyal customer here over the last couple of years. We loved coming here until we noticed the unfriendliness of the staff over our last few visits. But we decided to STOP coming here after today. I got a missed call at 12:15pm and a voicemail stating that something had happened and to give fun city dogs a call. I did, and was informed that there was "an incident" and that another dog had bit my dog. "It's not serious, a SUPERFICIAL puncture wound, would you like him to go to the vet?". Well I'm not a vet and I don't even know what the bite looks like, so how can I say? The owner of fun city dogs offered to send pictures. When I finally got the pictures via text 20 minutes later, I still can tell what's going on due to the picture quality being so dark. I tell her my dad (who had prior engagements, and otherwise would be watching my dog anyway) would come to look at the wound and instruct them further, as I am four hours away on business. He calls and tells me no way- the dog needs stitches. What? I said the woman owner told me specifically that it was NOT SERIOUS, and he would NOT require stitches or serious attention but it was "up to me." I call the owner back and said I would like for them to take him to the vet. She proceeds to tell me "No. Actually if you want him to go to the vet, you'll have to have your dad take him. We will not do it since it's only a superficial wound." I was shocked. I told her that my dog was left in her care and not only was my father not able to take him to the vet, but I had come to discover that she was not even ON SITE with my dog! She had been communicating about the issue with one of her young employees who likely had no idea what they were doing. So not only had she not even SEEN the wound herself, but she was denying my dog basic vet care in an incident that happened at her establishment! I point this out to her, and she finally says "well fine I will take him to the vet, but it'll take me an hour to get out of what I'm doing and get there to get him." At this point I was appalled. I declined, and my father was able to stay out of work to take him to the vet. Superficial wound? No. He ended up getting 2 staples in his ear along with antibiotics! I am shocked and appalled by how this situation was handled. I know accidents happen, but the response of the owner and the way she handled the situation is absolutely unacceptable! What tops it off is that the owner is refusing to notify the other dog owner that their dog caused injury to another persons dog! I would want to know if this happened with my pet, so that action could be taken to prevent it in the future. I am in shock and awe of how this establishment has been open and running this way for as long as it has. read more
