I have had sessions with Art Jaffe for various bodily issues and pains. I have to say that the results have been absolutely stupendous - much more than I expected or even needed. Wherever my pain was, he was able to figure out really creative ways of accessing it - and through the use of methods not traditionally used in massage - his forearms, his elbows, even his feet - he assuaged my dis-ease, altogether removed pain, and left me with a sense of lightness and freedom of movement that I have not felt for many years - maybe even not felt since I was a child. I felt nurtured, and profoundly supported - both literally - in helping me to feel comfortable to lean against him as he was performing his magic on me - but I also felt nurtured and supported metaphorically . I started seeing Art 8 months ago. I'm a 27 year old male diagnosed with debilitating long covid that has taken me out of the work force for a year now. I also developed type 1 diabetes, high blood pressure, severe tachycardia to the point where I was gasping for air with a heart rate of 120 bpm just by standing, and many other symptoms. I also lost over 20 pounds (I was already slim). I had been to over a dozen doctors with frustratingly few answers. I've also tried other methods such as acupuncture, functional medicine doctors, and chiropractors with little success. While there is no single easy cure for me, Art has worked magic on my body and nervous system which has shown significant improvements in my day to day life. When I went to see Art, the pain in my low back was excruciating, and the chronic hip pain (right hip) due to congenital hip dysplasia was becoming increasingly more debilitating by the day. I have been experiencing chronic neck and shoulder pain for the past ten to fifteen years. (It has been so long that it is difficult to keep track.) In the past few years this pain has extended into the jaw and I have since also been experiencing TMJ pain. With the hope of reducing this pain, in the past I have seen many different medical and health practitioners (2 physical therapists, acupuncturist, pain specialist, TMJ specialist, orthopedist) over the years and received many treatments including cortisone injections, lidocaine injections, exercise program, etc.) However, and very unfortunately, none of these treatments gave me any sort of long lasting and significant relief from my pain, discomfort, nor tension and decreased mobility. I first came and saw Art Jaffe at Spiral Techniques a year and a half ago. I had long reached the end of my rope. I KNEW, though it was devastating, that there was no relief from my chronic symptoms of numbness, swelling and painful knots restricting my range of motion. I received a diagnosed of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome years before and tried massage, Accupuncture and chiropractic techniques which felt good but could never alleviate my chronic issues for long. I had 10 abdominal operations, some operations were to remove scar tissue caused by the previous operation. I almost didn't make it though the last operation so I was looking for an alternative to having yet another surgery to remove the abdominal scar tissue. The scar tissue was strangling me from the inside. It felt like the scar tissue was once again wrapping around my intestines, adhering to the side wall of my abdomen and pushing up into my chest cavity. I went to Art Jaffe for help with a bunch of cumulative pain from a brain bleed injury one year ago. I fell down a flight of stairs and accumulated many injuries besides my brain. I broke both wrists that now are filled with titanium, one leg from knee down throbs and feels tingles most of the time. Neck pain and core muscles. I was born with a malformation in my spine, a condition called spina bifida, I was forced to have surgery at 6 months old.
