Easiest inspection ever. Friendly service. Be sure to enter from Jim Hogg ave and it's at the end of the drive. You will see hand written signs for inspection and where to park. You can wait in the garage or outside. The signs state 10 minutes but I think I was in and out in under that. I enjoyed looking around the garage while I waited. I drive a new Ferrari and Ferrari of Austin doesn't do state inspections. "Her" annual inspection is due this month and they recommended I go to a luxury dealership to handle the inspection. I spoke with the service department of Land Rover downtown and they predicted an hour to hour and 20min to complete it. Then I looked up their reviews online and they were pretty bad. I decided to find a top rated state inspection shop online and came across Terry's. All of the 5star reviews are on point! He was awesome and had me in and out of there in no time (maybe 10min)...time is money! He's a solid fella. I asked how long he'd been in business and he stated over 30 yrs which I found to be really cool. His shop is humble and customer service top notch. When I went to pay I only had my Amex on me. He said no problem you can pay me later. I quickly went to my bank, grabbed some cash and came back. He's very trusting in the Austin old school kind of way which is very refreshing. I'll take good service, good people, and quick turnaround over "luxury" setting any day! I'll be back for all of my other cars. This place is a gem. read more

I was driving around after my favorite inspection spot closed down and thought I would drive to Terry's. He isn't very informative about the process which is antiquated but I don't mind it. I didn't feel welcomed at all but he performed a very thorough inspection and did it very fast. I would recommend this place over the bigger corporate garages and I'm really happy with the process. read more

First the bad news: They only have a couple of years left on their lease. I'm serious. You know what I'm talking about... Burnet is becoming the 2nd home for soooo many Austin Mom 'n Pop shops. It's like wall to wall carpeting 2nd shops. WAH! I sure as heck don't mind having Taco Deli, Lick, Barley Swine, Bufalina Due, Juiceland, etc. closer to home but this also means that our ORIGINAL and LOCAL Mom 'n Pops are now endangered. That said, need a smog inspection? Drive in, hand over the key, stroll over to Lick a hundred yards away (the Cilantro Lime is righteous on a hot day), grab your treat and stroll back. Well that was quick and inexpensive. I went and before the test had started the lady told me that the car would fail because a bulb had gone out above my registration. I asked if she knew where i could get it fixed and she said next door. Next door as in literally sharing the same space. She drove my car in, called the guy and he came out and fixed it. She then drove it back plugged it up to the computer and in 10 mins i'm out of there Really nice, polite and informative with answers to my questions. Overall i'm pretty happy that my car passed its inspection and i found a nice family mechanic incase i ever need one. What a weird place! Not sure if we met *the* terry but immediately got a weird vibe from the only dude there. Turtle shells and animal skulls everywhere, very vintage candy machine with equally as vintage candy inside, lots of stuff to stare at while you wait. Literally the only 2 things this guy said was "I need to see your Texas insurance" at the beginning and "$29.50" at the end. So weird!!?!!?
