Good work but poor and spiteful customer service. Dropped off a boat cover in late October that I need four 8" inch straight zippers installed and a boat seat cushion that needed three inches of stitching along the piping of the cushion restitched.. The gentleman that took my cushion and cover said he couldn't provide an estimate but someone would be in touch. A week later I hadn't heard anything so I called, Robert told me that there was a supply chain crunch on the zippers and it might take a while, no problem I said, I asked if he had an estimate on the price and was told that he didn't at the moment. I asked him to call me back when when he did. I'n December I was told the work was complete, I asked again about the price and was told he didn't have the invoice off hand. When I went to pick it up I was surprised to see $450 charged in labor for the job! I had the exact same job done with the zippers on another boat cover that was the same as the one I brought into Shadys Upholstery somewhere else 3 years ago for $125 including the zippers (he charged an additional $70 for the zippers) but that's not the point of this review. What he wants to charge is his business, my complaint is for never having been given an estimate before the work was done, like any reputable labor driven business would do. He just did the work without giving me an option to agree on the price and left me stuck with no choice but to pay what I feel was an outrageous labor fee. Had he been honest and run his business professionally by giving me the estimate I asked two times for with no response before he did the work I would have had the option to go somewhere else. Instead I was stuck with no option but to pay him and his shady business practices. This spiteful business owner also decided that since he didn't like my attitude he wanted his $562 Payment in cash! Yes I was angry for feeling ripped off and I definitely wouldn't have done business with him had he been honest and had the integrity to provide an estimate before he went ahead with the work, but no need to rub salt in the wound he created from his dishonest business practices. He accepts credit cards and I was using a debit card, instead he told me I had 30 minutes get the cash or he was closing up and going home. From what I can tell the work was done well, overpriced for sure in my opinion , so make sure you get an estimate beforehand and don't fall for Roberts dishonest BS runaround in giving you an estimate like like I did. read more

Not nice to deal with.- I went here to get some work done. I was quoted $150 per hour labor as I supplied the material. I was quoted 2 to 3 hours. and asked some questions about performing only one item to see if it was worth it. I was assured once one was done the others would go quickly. I was told they wouldn't get to start it for 2 weeks. The job was done in 7 weeks. 2-3 hours labor became a 7 hour labor surprise. Late and over quote. When I asked about the price vs the quote, Robert shut me down quickly and told me my only choice was to walk away and leave the materials I already purchased. I paid him and learned he is always going to be the smartest guy in the room. He can have my money, but I get to warn everyone about the integrity of the business. Don't go here, as we've had a terrible experience with them. I dropped off two chair cushions to have a few rips mended and foam inserts made. THEY LOST OUR CUSHIONS. Not misplaced and not delayed, but completely LOST our property. To boot this was only revealed to us after almost a month of wondering why things were taking so long. Debbie was kind and apologetic at first, until we asked to either be reimbursed for the cushions so we can take our business elsewhere, or for the whole chair to be reupholstered at their expense. They refused to reimburse us and told me our only recourse was to buy new fabric - 7 yards - as well as the original foam inserts we had originally come in for, and they would reupholster the chair. How we were expected to pay more money and be forced to keep doing business with them as the only option is just beyond me. Their mistake was going to cost us more. They made a mistake, they lost our cushions, they should absorb the expense and fix it to make things right. That is how good business works. When I told them that their option didn't work for us, formerly nice and accommodating Debbie told me she could "no longer communicate with me about the situation". Sandy repaired the convertible rag top on my car that I'm preparing to sell. Service was quick. I found him to be honest and caring. The price was a fraction of what I believe I would have paid at a dealership. The location is convenient to 620 and Lakeway and Steiner. It took me months to find an upholstery shop that could help with my convertible top. The ones who could help were way too far away. I'm glad that I found Sandys shop. I'd recommend that you check it out. read more

I cannot recommend this place. I took a small antique chair in that just needed the seat recovered. In his quote, Robert said it would take one yard. I have him one yard that was 55" wide. The seat originally had nailhead trim around the bottom. Robert asked me if I wanted that put back on or if I wanted something else like a double welt or a fabric band. I told him I'd like a double welt. The chair was to be done by the 14th. When I hadn't heard from him by the afternoon of the 10th, I called and left a message. He called Friday morning. First, he asked if mine was the small antique chair. Upon confirmation that it was, he said "It's done." Great. When was it done? He never notified me it was done. Could I have picked it up earlier? I then told him I would try to get there early afternoon to pick it up (in part because they close at 3 on Fridays) but would call first because I know he sometimes goes out to give quotes, pick up or deliver furniture. He said great. I called shortly after 1 and got no answer so I left a message saying "I'm ready to pick up my chair. Please call me as soon as you get back." When I called again at 2, he answered and told me he hadn't been out but also hadn't checked his phone messages. I told him I would call when I was ready to head that way. So if I hadn't called again, I would've continued waiting for his call which might not have come in time for me to pick up the chair that day, if at all. THEN when I got there, the first thing I noticed was the original nailhead trim back on my chair. I said we had agreed on a double welt. He flippantly said "I didn't have enough fabric to do a double welt. Sorry." He had as much fabric as he told me he needed. If it wasn't enough, he should've called and asked if I wanted to do something else or get him more fabric. He hadn't. When I asked if there were other nailhead colors available, he said "Oh yes, there's all different kinds." I told him I would've liked a conversation about my choices. This time he flippantly said "I just put the original ones back on so I didn't have to order a whole bunch and charge you more." These we're not his decisions to make! This was my chair! I honestly believe he simply forgot I had said I wanted the double welt because he hadn't written it down so he made up these excuses. The workmanship itself is not great either. The back of the seat doesn't go straight up and down but is pulled forward by the fabric being stretched to tight and a little bit of the frayed edge is flipped back and sticking out from under the folded and sewn edge. I will be having this redone elsewhere at some point. As I said, I can't recommend Sandy's Upholstery. read more

I was told I needed 6.5 yards of fabric to upholster a small settee. I ordered 8 yards since I needed some for another project. I have upholstered many things and knew 6.5 yards was WAY more than they needed. Debbie said it would take 2 weeks to upholster. Three weeks later I called and was told at least another week. When I went to pick it up, the upholstery was going in the opposite direction (horizontal instead of railroaded) as per my instruction. When I picked it up, I said they should reimburse me for the fabric they used to correct THEIR mistake but Robert said he only used 1 yard and if he paid me for that yard he would have to cut a yard of MY fabric from that which was left over. I have absolutely NO idea how that makes any sense whatsoever! I tried to explain this was HIS mistake, I bought the fabric and he used twice what he needed so why should I pay for HIS mistake? He refused to agree so I paid the balance and left. He also left off the covered buttons that I really liked on the original. I measured the fabric and there is less than 2 yards left. Therefore, I believe he should have reimbursed me for 3 yards that I paid for and needed for another project but have lost because of HIS mistake. I do NOT recommend Sandy's. read more

I needed to get the headliner on my vehicle replaced because it was sagging. Blanchard gave me a quote, which was a little high, but I agreed because they were local. I had to give a deposit upfront for the material. They took over a week to go get the material. The workmanship is very good, however the glue they used smells awful and gives me a headache. The quote for the project was given in writing, however when I paid the bill, she said because I am using VISA, I would be paying an additional charge of 8%. read more

Blanchard Upholstery upholstered total interior including headliner, carpet, seats and the trunk space for a 1947 Cadillac restoration project. The quality was perfect and the price was more than reasonable. The over all car project came out very well but the upholstery sets it off as the crowning jewel. We had 8 dining chairs which Sandy's made new higher and much firmer cushions and recovered them with new fabric. They also darkened the stain on the chairs. They turned out beautiful and we are so happy with them. Fair pricing since I did have other quotes and great results! read more

Our sofa cushions were getting flat and out of shape, so I had them re-stuffed at Sandy's. I wasn't thrilled with the quote, as it was just about half the cost of the couch brand new, but I really didn't like the way our cushions looked, so I took a chance. When I got them back, one of the cushions was noticeably shorter than the other two, so I had to take the shorter cushion back in to be re-stuffed. It's been a few months, and they are really starting to sag. I was told they would hold their shape for 15 years. I'm not sure if I believed that, but I had hoped they would look good for at least a few years. I feel we wasted our money. Thankfully, I still have the old cushions, which just seem to be much better quality, even though they are a bit misshapen. read more

I just had Sandy's "slipcover" the backs of my leather dining room chairs. I didn't want the leather removed so opted for a slip cover over the backs. Sandy's did such a great job in fitting the slipcover that it actually looks like original upholstery. Plus they did the job faster than was estimated. The price is very reasonable too. I can't say enough about the great experience I had with Sandy's. They did everything Bobby told me they would do, gave me the timeframe, and even finished early. Their pickup is complimentary if you are in a 10 mike radius of the shop. I had an antique rocker redone and the results could not have been better! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone and I will always use them in the future! It's so refreshing to do business with people who actually do what they say they will do. read more
