Dropping a 5-star review to help this little hole-in-the-wall! I've seen this place a few times when shopping in the area and always wondered what it was all about. Today, I decided to give it a chance, and I'm so glad I did. I'm giving this place its flowers mostly because of the hospitality I received. From the moment I walked in, the employee working front of house was SO NICE. We were greeted with warmth and promptly seated. Waters came out quickly, and after ordering, aforementioned employee offered us complimentary soup. Throughout our dining experience, the way he treated us told me, "I'm glad you're dining with us, and I want to make sure you come back." He thanked us profusely for coming in and said goodbye a couple times. I just love when the customer service shines. The interior is super clean. All the furniture is in good condition, tables and floors were immaculate, and the decor was tasteful. There's enough seating for probably 12 groups, maybe more. Each table has napkins, soy sauce, and Sriracha, which I appreciated. The most expensive dish I saw on the menu was $16.95. Considering we're living in a time when you can easily spend that much in a drive-thru, I knew I was going to be happy with whatever I chose. I got two entrees: Mongolian beef and orange tofu. We were served complimentary egg drop soup, which was delicious. We were also provided a generous amount of white rice, and I'm assuming since I ordered the beef extra spicy, he also brought a side of chili oil, which made me extremely happy. When the entrees came out, they were hot off the wok (or flat top... who knows) and ab-so-lutely delicious. The Mongolian beef had a lovely sauce and lots of onions, both white and scallions. My only criticism is that the beef itself didn't have the trademark crispy texture. Maybe they didn't use enough cornstarch or didn't let it crisp up enough before adding the other ingredients. Even so, it was good and tender. The orange tofu stole the show, though. They successfully got the outside nice and crispy, and it held up in the amazing orange sauce. I didn't choose this dish, but I will absolutely get it again. For less than $30 before tax and gratuity, two people ate until full AND we left with two heaping boxes of leftovers. Our waiter even offered us additional rice to make sure we had enough to go with our leftovers. We had plenty, but it's another great example of the abundant hospitality. This wasn't the most amazing pan Asian cuisine I've ever had. However, it surprised and delighted me that it was so good for the value. Decided to give this place a try based on some of the ratings that I saw on Uber Eats. I placed an order for the house chow mein and I upgraded it and made it a combo so I got a cream cheese wonton some soup and an eggroll for 4.50 extra. The wonton and the eggroll were really good and flavorful. The soup was very lackluster. It was supposed to be like a egg drop soup with corn in it. It was very gamey. The chicken in it was just gross. The house chow mein was decent. The sauce was good. The noodles were good. The shrimp was good. The chicken was good, but the beef was very lackluster. It was big chunks of hard beef that you could not chew on. I had to throw those out. It just wasn't a good either choice. I'll give them another shot, but it's very lackluster and disappointing for the price. read more

Terrible, we ate here several times, always decent, now? Its crap. They use to add sauce to whatever chicken we ordered, warm through, the best. Now, they give the fried chicken in no sauce, sauce is now on the side, served to you in a plastic bowl, cold. That fried rice? is not fried rice, it rice with soy sauce, damn gross, this is not original Chinese Fried Rice. The Crab Ragoons? Not one piece of crab in them, it's a sweet Cream Cheese, again gross. Not going to spend one more dime in there. Panda Express is so much better. I'll be spending my cash at Panda. I will say that I will NOT come back here for it. I wish the Tolleson area for Eggfooyoung could do a better job. This place is pretty "mid" (note to my 2025 self- "mid" is what 2024 you used to describe something that's just fine, but isn't exceptional in any way, shape, or form). There are other spots nearby which I feel do a much better job, but let's be honest- this is Tolleson. If folks can get it for a dollar cheaper here, then they'll probably do it. It is what it is. Their eggrolls are more like what some folks would call spring rolls- thin and crispy and really just kinda gooey in the middle (seriously, does anyone actually like these??). Their dumplings taste like store-bought and pan-fried meh. Singapore Rice Noodles had no spice whatsoever, and the roast pork was mostly fat. And the Orange Shrimp was just bad- heavily-fried lumps of overcooked shrimp in a gloppy, heavily sweetened-sauce that will keep your beetus happy and your cardiologist well-paid. I think that I was being generous in calling this place "mid". In hindsight, I think I'll just call it bad. But whatever- peoples is on the struggle these days. read more

My favorite Chinese restaurant on the west side! The owner is very kind. I've been eating here for at least 5 years since 2016 and everything is very consistent. Usually order the orange chicken and some cheese puffs. Our second plate tends to be mangolian beef or King Pao beef or something with beef. I can't describe how delicious it is. We moved and I'm willing to drive 25-30 minutes to eat here. I've tried other places around my new place and the consistency isn't there compared to this place. Great spot for chinese takeout! I order my food by phone and the staff is always very kind, then you wait about 10-15 minutes until your food is ready for pickup. I recommend always going for the lunch or dinner specials, I love their orange chicken and mongolian beef. The lo mein options are solid too. All the specials come with a cream cheese rangoon, spring roll, and two nice scoops of fried rice. You can add in a soup for an additional fee. read more

Love this place. Good good! Sometimes can get a bit greasy, but let's be honest, good Chinese food and greasy go together. We've eating there many times. Foods you HAVE to eat there is the tofu with vegetables, orange chicken, orange beef! If you get it to go, ask for the sauce on the side. Trust me on this one. My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years! The prices are great and you get large portions. We usually go for the lunch or dinner specials which come with fried rice, vegetable egg rolls, and wonton or crab Rangoon. We typically order the orange chicken, general tso's, sweet and sour pork, and beef and broccoli specials. We also enjoy the house chow fun and pan-fried noodles. If you plan to dine-in, I recommend calling ahead to check if they're allowing it. When we went today there was a sign that said they are not allowing dine in for the time being. BBQ Pork - This is from the apps selection: the bbq sauce to too sweet for my liking 2. Sesame Chicken - I liked their version, but the chicken could be crispier but then again I got it togo so it was steaming in the container 3. We felt like we were eating mystery meat. We ordered the Orange Chicken and Mongolian Beef. The meat was so chewy, like gristly, and very tough. The egg rolls also were mushy on the inside. Overall a good experience, would like to give a 3.5. Got two combo dinners, the sesame chicken for me and the curry shrimp (no shrimp, add chicken). Within a minute of the waitress taking our order we got our soup which was good. Maybe 2 or 3 minutes after that got our meals, which we don't know how to feel about that. The sesame chicken was surprisingly delicious and most pieces were chunks of chicken, not just fried pieces. The three star for my boyfriends meal. Not only did it not look appetizing, but maybe a 1/4th of the plate was chicken. The rest seemed to be an entire onion, and some watercashews and carrots. My usual Chinese Restaurant is closed because of the virus. I figured I'd try New Asian Star since I've seen it for years and only delivered their food. Let me start with the Egg Rolls. They were really small and not much taste. I purchased Pork Fried Rice. It only tasted like fried Rice. Couldn't taste the Pork. The Sesame Chicken taste was good. Too much breading though. Mongolian Beef was good, little too hot though. Not sure if I'd go back. I'll keep trying to find another Chinese Restaurant for a backup until things get back to normal and I can get my usual. After I checked my food in the car I had to go back in because they forgot the crab puff and egg roll orders. Fast forward to today, I reheat the shrimp fried rice for lunch, stir it up and find a BUG. I am disgusted! And yes, I added the pics. Tonight we ordered takeout, obviously COVID-19, and we got Orange Chicken, teriyaki chicken and pork fried rice. The Orange Chicken was horrible. It smelled/tasted like fish. I hate fish myself so this was extremely terrible for me. The Teriyaki Chicken had little to no sauce on it BUT didn't smell or taste like chicken. The Pork Fries Rice was good. I love rice and feel you can't really mess that up, but will not go back. The customer service was very poor when we picked up. We provided name and order number, but insisted we give a list of all items we ordered to make sure we weren't trying to take extra stuff. I thought this was strange considering our stuff was all in one bag ready to go with MY NAME on it.. and my name is not very common so I'm sure no one else ordered the same exact thing at that time. Was expecting better We were looking for a quick bite to eat and decided to stop in at New Asian Star . The staff at New Asian Star were friendly and it seemed to be a very popular spot with the locals. On this visit we ordered the lemon chicken, egg drop soup, fried wonton, egg rolls, and chicken with vegetables, we were a little disappointed with both entrée's. The seasoning level was okay, however, the chicken was overcooked and there was just to much sauce. Next we tried the Eggrolls and Fried Won Tons, once again those items were just okay. Our meals just okay, maybe I was expecting something more. I love Chinese food however, New Asian Star wouldn't be one of my first choices.
