Just okay. Was craving some Asian food, this place is bigger inside than it looks, staff was super friendly. Walked in and ordered the lunch sweet and sour w/ a Thai tea to-go, combined total was about $20 and was not worth it. Small portions in general and the lunch combo is supposed to come with soup - which they forgot to give me. The only things I really liked from the whole meal was the spring roll and the Thai tea. Again, staff seemed super nice but for the flavor of the food, and what you get for such a high cost, I probably wouldn't come here again. read more

Hits the Basics, But Falls Short. A decent neighborhood Chinese spot that gets the job done, but I feel like it was pretty much average at best. What we got: A mix of classic Chinese dishes, just the staples. They have all the variations and proteins combinations. What hit: Some dishes come out steaming hot and fresh. Portions were fair. What missed: The flavors were good--nothing bad, but nothing particularly crave-worthy either. Some dishes felt a little flat and lacking any sort of stronger flavor. It was also very, very starchy. I'm not sure why they need so much corn starch glazed on the food. Service was fair, but I had to ask for things multiple times to get stuff done. What happened here? Have been very pleased until last two times. Today, we were seated, given no drinks or water, and after 15 minutes, he finally came to take order and we were first and only customers in place!! Both had Mongolian beef and it was so tough, most of it was left on plate. He did not come back to check on food, as he was watching tv on his phone at front with his back to us. He then finally came and offered boxes and we told him about tough meat, so no, we did not want box. He said nothing, took plates and returned with check! My go to restaurant for chinese food! Do yourself a favor and go try it!! My go-to is their honey sesame chicken, cheese puffs and their tasty egg drop soup. the cashew chicken is also delicious! The dining room is pretty and peaceful, making for a very enjoyable dining experience. there's just one or two things i'd recommend updating: (call it constructive criticism from a loyal and devoted customer) 1.) the takeout boxes. I asked for "a bit of extra sauce" on my chicken, and i received a bag with absolutely everything drenched in sauce... (pictured) except the chicken. the bag, napkins, container, trice, and sadly even the spring roll.. all soaked. i had to transfer it all into a tupperware container when i got home, it was quite a sticky mess. i am only mentioning this because its the second or third time its happened. the food was still delicious! 2.) the rice sometimes comes with a flavor that can only be described by this phrase commonly used by locals.. "Dysart Water". For whatever reason, the water in this area just tastes terrible. At every establishment. All of them in this vicinity. I believe this water is being used to cook the rice, which is giving it this unpleasant flavor addition... not always, but sometimes. Now please, don't read this and get me wrong! We were in a huge line at Jack in the box driving in from Vegas on Christmas Eve when we saw the open sign across the parking lot. We checked out reviews and immediately pulled in to order 30 min before they closed. They made everything we ordered fresh. Their eggrolls were huge, meaty and filling. We just happened to be in the area and had an urge for Chinese. It was a good experience. As you know, Chinese restaurants can be all over the place from decor, cleanliness and just experience in general. AJK was good all the away around. Service was prompt and friendly, the tables and chairs neat and clean. Temperature of the dining room was comfortable. Menu items were what you'd expect. Had the full (not chopped) red peppers on the Kung Pao dishes. Hate when Chinese restaurants chop up the red peppers like they do in Italian restaurants. Cozy place that has been here for years. Probably my number one spot to grab egg foo young. Every place makes it a different way with a different sauce and when it comes to the far west side this is the place that does it right. The service is always good, the staff is genuine, and you will enjoy your time. Egg drop soup is pretty good as well. The place is dated, but that's okay food matters more. I'd say the best part of this restaurant is their lunch menu. Super reasonable pricing and good taste. Not the best but it's a lot better than most of the local options. Their staff is always helpful and while a bit too dark for my tastes, the interior is super clean and tidy. Their portions are good for the pricing as well. First time here with my wife who is a Chinese food fanatic. My twin brother loves this place so we gave it a whirl. We walked in around 4:30 pm on Saturday and was surprised to find we were the only customers here. I ordered the orange chicken and no rice, cutting the carbs. My wife had the pork fried rice, Lo Mein and hot and sour soup, she always orders more than she can eat but that's ok they have doggie bags. The inside is very clean and looks well kept. The service was very good also. The orange chicken was ok, the orange sauce was really good but for me I have had better. My wife said the pork fried rice and Lo Mein was average and the hot and sour soup had good flavor but it was a little saltier than she likes. Prices are inline for the cuisine. Our child approved of the orange chicken, the fried rice is unlike other places, it's plain (no veggies mixed in) but it's good. If your group is 6 or more there is an automatic 18% gratuity added. Price *must read!* $3 difference in just a main entree with rice vs. main, rice, spring roll, & cheese puff. If you have a large party, BE CAUTIOUS!!! They will still ask for a tip even though already charging you gratuity! They did it in a very sneaky way to us, they were having trouble splitting the bill even though we already split the parties prior to ordering. They wanted one person to pay the $300+ bill & we could personally sort out details. We offered to help them just ring up what each party ate so we could pay individually & be on our way. They agreed however, asked each party if they'd be leaving a tip with their total completely leaving out the fact that they were still including the gratuity from the main bill. Everyone of course tipped generously, from $10-20. AJK basically got tipped twice and weren't complaining at all. This is a place I could eat at everyday. Reminds me of some of my favorite Chinese restaurants in SF China Town. All of the fried food has a real crisp flavor and you can tell the oil is replaced often. The crab Rangoon is my favorite and the pot stickers my wife. The flavor of both is amazing. The ma Po Tofu is so good. Silken tofu and spicy gravy with peas and carrots. Got the combo that includes rice and chow mein. So much food. My wife got lemon chicken which was very tasty.
