A coworker recommended this place, and since I'm from Hawaii, I've been craving some authentic Chinese food. Chinese cuisine is everywhere back home, so I definitely have high standards when it comes to finding a good spot. Hands down, this is some of the best Chinese food I've had in Arizona. The egg drop soup was excellent and instantly reminded me of home. For me, beef broccoli and Mongolian beef are always the true test of a great Chinese restaurant, and both dishes were outstanding. The real standout, though, was the salt-and-pepper pork. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it, but it was easily my favorite dish of the meal. You went back to the restaurant again to get some takeout. We enjoy the shrimp fried rice and the chicken fried rice. We also wanted to try something different so we ordered the egg foo young which comes with 3 to 4 large patties. You could choose any type of meats you would like with a side of steamed rice and gravy this time. We did get enough soy sauce. Our only complaint is that the egg foo young patties were overcooked in the restaurant was not busy at all. It was only about six people in the restaurant in the future. The location is great, very close to our everyday shopping and easy to find. When we first entered, we were unsure if they wanted us to wait to be seated. Even though we sat ourselves they attended to us right away. The waitress was soft spoken and polite. We didn't have to wait for our drinks or food. It was as fast as drive through. Our drink orders were taken and we perused the menu. My wife had the pineapple chicken. We started with some egg drop soup while we waited for our entrees. It was quite good. I had the Mongolian chicken. Most Chinese menus have a pepper next to their Mongolia dishes indicating they're spicy, but they aren't. At Wok Wei the Mongolian chicken is hot (mild, but there is definite heat). I loved it. My wife had the pineapple chicken and she thought it was a little bland. Service was very good. We love getting takeout from Wok Wei. The food is always delicious and they give big portions plus service is fast. I always opt for the combo because it comes with an egg roll and cream cheese puffs. I often get the sweet and sour chicken or kung pao chicken. The food is decent. Can't go wrong with orange chicken, but there have been times when you can taste that the vegetables have been sitting in a poorly temp frig and is infused in the taste. The male manager/owner has on some occasion been very rude and they tend to not have the greatest turn around on refilling drinks. Let it be slow and maybe you will be treated well. Great price for the portion size. I got the king pao chicken combo. Cheese puffs (think cream cheese wontons) were good but not my thing. The egg roll filling was mushy, fried rice was not bad but not remarkable. Low Mein was slimy, Kung pao chicken was good. It was ready quickly which is a plus. The egg drop soup had ground chicken or maybe pork in it, different then what I've had before. Our food arrived very quickly, it was a lot of food. The green beans were cooked just right, definitely not mushy or limp. I was glad to have picked something with a sauce to eat the rice with, otherwise it was just rice. The lomein noodles were not very good, no real flavor, was just a filler that didn't add anything to the plate. My bf went with the lemon chicken and there was not a vegetable on the entire plate. Well, I'm still looking for a great local Chinese food restaurant. Although Wok Wei was quick, it was just ok. I was not happy with the cup size serving (picture) of their Salt & Pepper Shrimp. The container looked 1/2 eaten it was so empty. The eggrolls were crispy and solid. The Mushu Pork was as bland as the pork fried rice, which you can see you the pictures that the, what little pork was added, was on the top of the rice. Just overall ok. read more

This place is pretty good. All the food flavored well and enjoyable. The atmosphere is simple but nice. Over all I would recommend if you're looking for a new place to eat. It may be a cultural difference but I did feel that the older server was slightly annoyed when I asked for extra sauce or any other accomodation. Nothing outside of the norm of dining but it could've been the language barrier. I'll reserve my judgement and give the benefit of doubt. It's been the first place in a long time that I've found a restaurant that had fried rice closest to my old favorite Chinese restaurant that closed, sing high. So I'll definitely be back. read more

Food was hot and fresh. Each dish came out steaming. Each of us chose an entree to share. Chicken was all tender. All white meat chicken. All chicken dishes we ordered had enough sauce to coat the food without it swimming in it. All the chicken dishes we tried had a similar sweetness. Even the General Tso's had a real sweetness to it. Mongolian beef was medium spicy. Beef wasn't chewy. I wish we would have ordered a vegetable dish as well. That is not reflected in the number of stars. More a thought after the food started trickling in, and I realized the kids didn't order entrees with vegetables. A little work could be used on cleanliness. Dining room was completely empty, upon arrival. Having never been here before, we waited to see if we should seat ourselves, or wait to be seated. We were directed to a table against the wall. Floor around and under the table had pieces of dropped food. It looked like a family with young children had been there previously. My hand became sticky from something on the menu. Some brown splatters on the white sweetener packet holders. I could see these things getting overlooked during a rush. I had to take a star away for these being the conditions during an early dinner, where they sat us. Otherwise, Wok Wei would be a solid 4 stars. read more
