I originally saw Dr. Bernal for a neuroma in my left foot that popped up during training for a half marathon. Dr. Bernal listened to my concerns/issues and recommended treatment that we both agreed upon. He continually went out of his way to make sure my foot was healed before the race - there is no way I could have completed that half marathon without him! I hardly ever write reviews but this place is worth it. I was going to a place in Renton back in July 2018 till January of 2020. I moved from Renton to west seattle March of 2019 but kept going to the one in Renton. In May of 2020 i decided to going to new balance. Closer to the house and a change because after my accident i still was in a lot of pain. The old chiropractor pretty much said this is just what I'm gonna have to live with. Dr. Hill did an amazing job explaining whats going with my spine and the treatment plan for me. Had detailed X-rays of where my spine is at and where is should be. After my first adjustment i was sore but felt amazing at the same time. Never hers so many cracks in one treatment lol. Slept almost 12 hrs. Lol. Dr. Hill called me mid day to check up on me. I was passed out lol. Thought that was amazing!! My adjustment with the dr. In renton where quick in and out like a min. Not kidding!! With the Dr.s at new balance they take there time with the adjustment and after a few weeks i feel amazing. I'm doing more that i ever have since the car accident back in 2018. I was in Seattle for work and was totally out of whack after all the travelling and long hours. I called New Balance and was able to get in with Dr. Bernal...thank God! He was so easy going with me, asked me a lot of questions to determine what was out of place, and worked his magic so that I walked out feeling as good as new! Not being from Seattle and going into a new place, Dr. Bernal made me feel at ease and helped to solve my back issues! I plan on going back to him whenever I'm in town to get an adjustment and my alignment back in order! Dr. Hill, Dr. Bernal and staff are amazing! They treat us like family at New Balance Chiropractic. My family & I have been going to New Balance for over a year now and our back health has been doing well! The great thing that I love about the doctors and staff is that they do not judge us as patients. They do not push products (i.e. dietary supplements) on us like some other chiropractic offices. All of my children love coming to the "back doctor!" Kids need to be checked as well and I'm glad that Dr. Hill recommended us to bring in our children. Stress is a Holistic problem, and we need holistic answers. Most people suffer and treat symptoms with what is 'wrong' with them without ever addressing the root problem. Stress. No two people respond to stress triggers in the same way, each reaction varies based upon their upbringing, triggers, mental and emotional state, past injuries (physical, mental and emotional) and a host of other factors. Symptoms can manifest as everything from headaches to insomnia, anxiety to a chronic upset stomach, moodiness and depression to heart attacks and strokes. If left 'unchecked', Stress can and will effect every single part of your life. When I was younger, I swam competitively for sixteen years in addition to playing volleyball in high school and eventually college. The transition from participant to coach was a natural and easy one, coaching each sport for 4+ years afterwards. The same could be said for how I started a 'stress management' business (writing books, teaching classes and doing one-on-one coaching). The truth is, I don't handle stress well. I suffer tremendously in my body from past athletic injuries and car/motorcycle wrecks. My emotions and moods become unstable when I am overtaxed or triggered (due to a long-standing battle with PTSD). Overall, my body, mind and emotions are sensitive to external stress-inducing factors. This is something I will have to address every day for the rest of my life. Knowing this about myself, I search far and wide for holistic practicers (read: not a doctor quick to start prescribing unnecessary medication. I have found this in Dr. Christopher Hill at New Balance Chiropractic in Seattle Washington. Dr. Hill is not only personable and friendly, but the first question he asks when sitting down with you is: "What is going on in your life?" and then LISTENS to what you have to say. From the very beginning, he wants to know the story, the reason, the triggering problem - not just the symptom, before he even considers prescribing 'treatment'. Two words: bizarre and harmful. The affect of this Dr was so bizarre as to seem disturbing. He hurt me several times during the first treatment and each time I told him this he would respond with a weird smile. At the end of the appointment I explained that I felt significantly worse than when I walked in. At first he ignored me flat out and continued to explain his recommended care plan. I waited for him to finish then explained again my concern and dissatisfaction regarding feeling so much worse after his treatment. He smiled at me again and suggested I should be grateful for the change in how I felt. It took over three weeks to recover from the treatment. Dr. Chris Hill is amazing at getting to the heart of the matter quickly and efficiently. I have been leary of Chiropractic for years but Dr. Hill has turned me around. He is amazing and figuring out FIRST what's going on rather than just do a quick generic adjustment and move on. I recently broke my elbow and tore my ACL, MCL and LCL and the Grastin's Technique that they did made my recovery (according to my Orthopedic Surgeon & Physical Therapist) much, much quicker and more complete than normal. This was my first time with Dr Hill and New Balance Chiropractic, but not my first time getting a chiropractic adjustment. I suffer from chronic back and neck problems from my job. I found New Balance here on Yelp a few weeks ago after I popped a rib out of place. I was in extreme pain, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Some things I wanted to add to this review for anyone in my position with back issues while getting in shape. I've been trying yoga and wouldn't you know it, I've re-injured my lower back. Not as badly, but it now hurts everyday all day again and I can no longer bend all the way down and touch my toes since doing Yoga. Be careful how balls out you go doing yoga! Due to my first injury I was already having trouble stretching, so when I tried keeping up during yoga it really hurt. Heating pads at night help, but I've got to get back to the chiropractor and it's not in my health network and I just can't throw hundreds of dollars at this right now.
