My mom and I visited today to get some new sneakers. My mom walks with a cane and was disappointed that her favorite walking shoes were no longer being made. All was not lost as Sylvia was helping us and offered several different options for my mom to try. She was super helpful, even helping my mom get the shoes on and lacing them up. I can't remember the last time I've seen that level of assistance in a shoe store. She was absolutely fantastic with my mom, answering questions and even showing her a special way of lacing her sneakers to help prevent heel slippage. My mom ended up getting two pairs of shoes that she said were so comfortable, and raved about Sylvia to the woman at the register. I took a star off as I'm a size 11ish and can rarely find shoes that fit me-most shoes only had sizes up to 10 available, but I'm so glad my mom had such a great experience today. read more

A new fan of new balance I had to make a stop while attending the new balance indoor nationals. The store is walking distance from the village and made it convenient for us after the meet to get some new gear . We both loved the selections and picked out a few things to add to our collection. My friend and I had a very bad experience red shoe barn So we decided to go to new balance in Lawrence we had this young man named Stephen who took over an hour with many many many different types of shoes for me white all different kinds of width for my feet finally found a pair. I am not really into shoes, but my friends were very excited to visit this place and shop. They are located right by the New Balance headquarters - offering quite a better price for their shoes compared to other places and online stores and resellers. I believe they have shoes that were not out in the general market yet as well as other shoes that were rare and are only available via online resellers. From what I remember, these shoes were comparatively cheaper, thus making this New Balance Factory store quite worth the trip. The staff was very friendly. There are many of them walking around the store and are always available if you need assistance. All five of us did not have any trouble finding shoes and there was always a size for us. It seems like they have plenty of shoes stocked in the store, so the overall likelihood of purchasing the right shoes for you is quite high. read more

In service this store deserves 10 stars. I walked into the ladies section and met Tina. Energy like a rocket! She knows her stuff, explained the why's & the why nots of each sneaker I tried on. Of course I found a pair that was more than $100, but when I got to the register it was 30% off. She was so cute, I asked for some socks, not only did she find some on sale, but thru the masses she found some that matched my color needs. I really liked how she knew. We connected, and I would recommend many to this store. If I had to give one critique, if you give your email, they offer a 10% discount. But t not as an addiction to the sale price. Great selection, went on a Thursday so I hear that sometime by Sunday it's not as good as a selection. Not sure on that... I liked the high energy help that enthusiastically gets you into the 3D imaging machine, gets the stats on your feet and hands you off to another that is much more down to year, steering you to practical shoe over the hype. Been shopping at the New Balance outlets for 35 years. Not a bargain any more. A Clip joint. This place used to be great. Now there are no bargains to be had. Was there with my kids buying what we thought were two pairs of sneakers from the clearance rack with an additional 30% off. When we got to the register, two pairs of sneakers cost $195. And none of them were accurately priced. I will NEVER go to a New Balance outlet again! Better deals to be had at Dick's Sporting Goods or Joe's New Balance web site. read more

We came around closing time on a weeknight and there were plenty of staff available. They were nice and asked if we needed assistance. The whole place was super neat and well organized / well kept. The selection is limited but I can always find a tennis shoe or running shoe that works for me....... and the price is right. After I found this place, whenever I need new shoes I return to New Balance. It is set up so the shoes are on racks below the display items so it is set up for self-service. There are employees there if you have a question. I could not find my size so I had an employee locate a pair my size out in back. The savings far outweigh the additional effort required to find a shoe that fits. read more

What has the world and society come to when an otherwise respected sports footwear MANUFACTURER does not have a Brannock Device (The Brannock Device® is the standard foot measuring tool for the world's footwear industry) in their store, and a staff that is familiar with its use? Very peculiar, that in a sports footwear MANUFACTURER's own store, that, that very sports footwear manufacturer, one that prides itself on manufacturing shoes of a variety of widths, that they have no "objective measuring device (the industry standard is The Brannock Device®)" in their store, to assist a customer in identifying a shoe of the correct width. New Balance does have a "3D Foot Scan" in their stores, apparently to assist their salespeople in measuring foot length, but not foot width. I think New Balance has "dumbed down" the process of fitting shoes in their very own stores, no less the Factory Store beside their Flagship Corporate Headquarters. What a sad state of affairs. This is what society has come to; "service," "personalized service," and "fitting," are gone, replaced by "order-taking" and "order-takers." read more

The only negative experience i had here recently is that the new insole i bought were apparently used. and i only found out after returning home.... (i should've checked at the store...). Walked in there today for the fish time in my life. I was in the men's department. Didn't know if the price reflects the 40% discount. So the oldest lady working there today was there. October 12 th around 3 PM. I ask her a question. She replies and I say thank you as I am walking away. 4 seconds later. I here behind my back a loud and sarcastic YOU ARE WELCOME. I turn around and reply. By the way I actually said thank you but you didn't hear me. But this goes to show the level of service or entitlement one feels. Like we have to thank them that there actually working for us to go there. This is is why didn't buy anything. Or either will never step foot in there again. And as for merchandise. Wouldn't bother. Meh, I've experienced better. Not sure I will return, the prices are not much different than other stores, like a Marshall's or TJ's, The discount use to be better and I subscribe to the email announcements. Buying a pair of sneakers and getting 50% off the second pair, is 25% off each, and you can find better deals. The shopping experience is that you are on your own. The last two trips weren't worth it, I didn't make a purchase. Oh well. I liked the Lawrence store better, seemed like better buys and shopping experience. i think the clothes are overpriced for a factory store. Was going to go with the 3-stars due to the insane prices that seem to just creep higher each time I am in there, BUT.... Greg at the register was so nice that I decided to go with 4-stars. Thanks Greg! Only things not making this a 5-star: the insane prices ($90 for "seconds" walking sneakers.... really??). So go when they are having a store-wide sale, when - yes - it might be crazy, but at least then you will save some $$. My $90 "outlet" shoes were 25% off with a storewide sale and an additional 5% off for signing up for emails. $63 was a lot better than $90, thank you very much. Forget the fantasy of parking right in the lot, unless you are right there when they open on a Monday; park at the Stockyard next door (as the parking lot guy told me to do), but just go straight there, since making a left on Market Street is a pain in the you-know-what. read more

Great prices with a decent selection in the seconds clearance. The sizes vary as do these colors so if you don't find what you're looking for it may just be there soon. Located towards the back of the store you'll find women's, kid's, and men's sneakers ranging in price from about $20 and up. Like other factory stores you have to hit it just right. There are racks marked as on sale but don't miss the sneakers that are actually stacked up in boxes on the back wall. Those too are on sale if you don't find what you are looking for on the open racks. Since I only use them at gym and am not a pro runner these prices hit the spot. Getting a new pair of sneakers always makes me feel good. I like to think I can run faster. The store is clean and open with dressing rooms in the back right corner. The staff is nice and ready to help but also not ready to pounce. They have gym bags, foot insoles, and odor eater balls for stinky toes too. If you don't feel like working out then go get a pair of new sneakers and an outfit. It is a motivator to be in the right gear and feel good about getting your groove on and save some $$$. read more

Based on prior reviews, I didn't expect much - and my expectations were confirmed. I did learn something useful - the racks marked "Clearance" just have the same shoes at the same prices as the racks in the middle of the floor. An employee told me this. I don't know if there were actual clearance items in the past. I decided I just didn't like their shoes - the soles are too dense, so they're unpleasant to walk in. A little over a mile away is Marshalls in Watertown, and I'd say their prices are about half those at NB. Given the nature of the store, they don't have a wide range of sizes in all styles, but I found several pairs in my size that I liked - usually for $30-40. read more

Previously, 498. Then, 856, 857. Now 767 and 661. New Balance makes me feel safe. This is a very important quality to have in this world we live in. My shins feel safe, my quads feel safe, my hamstrings feel safe, and most importantly, my poor battered feet feel safe. This was not always so. There were times, early in my running career, a fledgling young teenage naif, when I traded comfort and reliability for flash and sexiness. Sure, those shoes, by companies that had no business making running shoes, looked snazzy and impressed the ladies, but laid me up for weeks with assorted injuries, all preventable by sensible footwear. Enter New Balance, a few years on, a few years wiser. Sure, they were boxy and ugly and felt like they were encased in lead. But my feet, my legs, my entire body has thanked me every day ever since. And these days - not so unsightly anymore, though not at the expense of superior stability and cushioning. Stability and cushioning are integral. NB has this shit down to an art, the proper balance and gradation. This is the kernel of safety. So maybe they are not the Rolls Royce of running shoes - I'll take a Toyota Corolla that will rack up mad mileage without breaking down over a pair of (x) brand that disintegrate after a 100 piddling total miles. Oh, this is supposed to be about the store? The store here is great. Factory seconds, but you could fool me. Never had a pair that wasn't perfect. Prices, especially during their semi-annual 20% off sales, are unbeatable. This is the very best New Balance Factory Store you will find in Brighton. Ever. Ever. Make sure you go to this location, on Life St. Remember, choose Life. The one on Death St., not so good. read more

I know the expectation for "Factory Stores" is that they are beat up, but this place is just as nice as any retail sporting goods outlet, with merchandise neatly organized and displayed for easy access. They have a lot of good quality items on sale for affordable prices, and they also have a Clearance rack for things on super-markdown. We were there when there was a 30% off all running sale going on, so my husband and I got two pairs of sneakers and a pair of running shorts for $75. I thought the cashier had forgotten to ring up an item, the total was so low! The only things I'd caution about this store is that the "sale" price in the store isn't as low as you might expect at a factory store. I brought my parents here, and they had expected TJ Maxx or Filene's Basement-type discounts, and that's just not the case. All of the stuff for sale is overstock or factory seconds, so you do have to look it over and see why no one's bought it yet. It's usually something silly- like pink-for-breast-cancer things that just won't sell, or off-color stitching- but you should check to make sure it's something you're OK with. If you're not too picky about which sneakers you want you can probably get a pair made in the US for around $40 (I'm talking about women's shoes), I know I checked to see how much the shoes my brother wears were and they were still $95... I think you can get a good sense of the NB factory store by reading the other 59 reviews - the prices are great, the product is great, and if you have a coupon or they're having a sale you can get a great deal. I was convinced of this as i walked out of the store this morning with new running sneakers for $32. However, there's a point about Customer Service that's a bit underplayed - although everyone likes being helped when they need it, there's also something to be said to being left alone when you don't need help. I was very pleased that i was able to try on different shoes for 30 minutes without anyone interrupting me and making me feel like i was being stalked. Kudos to the nice people at NB for not lurking. They were always nearby to answer any questions i had, but not in that creepy 'i'm being watched' way. read more

I'll preface this two star review by saying that overall I thought that the quality and price of the sneakers that I purchased for both my Dad and my son were great. The customer service at this place, on the other hand, leaves A LOT to be desired. I was tasked by my Dad to pick up 4 pairs of sneakers he had put on hold over the phone (how he got through, I have no idea). We ventured there on Saturday and it was madness both in the tiny parking lot across the street and the store. I surmised it was from the 40% off deal that was the reason we were there as well. After picking up an adorable pair of sneakers for my soon-to-be walking son we went to retrieve the sneakers that had been put aside. After one employee with a "couldn't care less" attitude told me that he didn't see them on hold another employee located them as she was the one who had talked to my Dad on the phone a couple of days earlier. Now here's where I can't place all the blame on her ... I should have checked each box to make sure it was the sizes and widths I needed. My bad. I didn't check until I got home and discovered they were wrong. I called the store to see if they could locate the correct sizes/widths and put them aside for me to pick up the next day. I placed my 1st call at 5:00pm (store closed at 7:00pm) and proceeded to call 17 times (I just checked my call log) to no avail. No one answered the phone for two hours. What infuriated me more was the fact they have a recorded message pick up after 8 or so rings and ask you to leave a message so that they can supposedly call you back. They did finally call me back too ... 3 days later. Luckily when we returned on Sunday they had all of the sizes/widths that I needed. When I brought up the fact that they don't answer the phone to the 1st cashier she informed me that they are short-staffed and can't be bothered answering the phone, or something to that effect. She also told me that they hear about it from other customers all the time. Gee, um, you think maybe it's because you are expected, as a retail establishment, to answer the phone when customers call?! The 2nd cashier, who according to her name tag was an "assistant manager" practically threw my bags at me after ringing me up with nary the customary muttering of a "thank you." Long story short, go here for a great deal on quality sneakers, but don't expect any stellar customer service in person OR over the phone. read more

Since they moved, they raised their prices. You used to be able to find sneakers for $30,$35 in the clearance section. Now clearance prices are $50 and up for factory "Seconds". I used to be able to find shoes in my size (ladies 12) but can't anymore. Have been buying New Balance shoes at Factory Outlet since it was located in basement on Everett Street 35 years ago. Went to Tent Sale today at New location on Market Street. "25% off your entire purchase." Bought pair of 993's. I have been wearing a variation of this model for many years and it has always been included in store wide sale.That is why I drive an hour into Brighton. When I got home I noticed I had been charged full outlet price - no discount. One of my kids noticed a tiny sticker on box. "Not eligible for further discounts" Someone at store - either the person waiting on me or the check out person should have mentioned these shoes were not part of the sale. I can go online and buy these shoes for $10 less with free shipping and don't have to drive to Brighton. There are many shoes here discounted at a good value. But if you wear the top of the line - 993's or 990's - you can save yourself a trip and gas. Order online. read more
