So I had heard good things both about this store and New Balance shoes. Admittedly I got to the store 40 minutes before it closes, but I don't think that is unreasonable. Bottom line, no one would help me. It appears that the store policy is for the salesperson to give undivided attention to one customer at a time, which while nice if you are that customer is a pain if you are not. One associate said he would get me someone to help and then disappeared. Oh well. I left shortly after no one came. Too bad as I was ready to buy. read more

I needed a new pair of shoes, and my wife told me to go to the New Balance on Arroyo because they would fit me and take special care to make sure I got a pair of shoes that worked for me. She had bought shoes there several months ago and was really pleased with the attention she received. She was right- I walked in, and the salesman,Chad, was immediately helpful and attentive. He fitted me with the machine, helped me select a shoe for my needs, and was patient with me while I tried a few on. I am delighted with the shoes I bought, and my feet already feel better. I've never been more disappointed. I LOVE New Balance shoes. I have always loved New Balance shoes and I have been looking forward to visiting a New Balance store for a long time. And today was the biggest let down. I made a purchase online at newbalance.com a week ago, not even thinking twice about my order because I assumed all online purchases could be exchanged or returned in store, apparently NOT the case! Either way, not knowing this, I made my way over to the New Balance store (22 miles from my home) to see about exchanging my online purchase for a smaller size. I walked in the store with my husband and 2 teenage kids, we were in the store for about 10 -15 minutes just walking around looking at the floor styles, no one ever greeted us or asked if we needed help with anything. I finally was ready to ask for help with my exchange and walked half way across the store to ask a sales rep for help... EVEN as I am walking towards the guy, MAKING eye contact with him, he STILL never addresses me. I show him my online purchase (which by the way, is a classic 420 in blue) and ask to try on a smaller size, guy tells me they don't carry them in the store. I ask about just returning them and he tell me I have to ship them back?????!!!! Never would I have expected this from my favorite running shoe brand. I've been a fan of New Balance over 15 years and visiting their store was such a disappointment. Super poor customer service!! I had to do all the asking, no one greeted us or apologized for the inconvenience of not being able to return in store. It's not like we were a small party! He was very clear about the different features of the shoes she needed and gave us a 10% discount because of the podiatrist referral, even though we didn't know about it. Went for my daily run this morning and came to the realization that I desperately needed new running shoes. Decided to go to New Balance after driving past it the other day. Thomas greeted me at the door and asked me questions about activity and if I had a specific shoe in mind. He directed me to this cool machine where I placed my feet and he told me about pressure points and the style of shoe that best fit my needs. Left the store with a very good experience; I wasn't under the impression that he was trying to push me towards a more expensive style. Will definitely be back for more shoes. They only carry NB shoes, obviously, but this is a pretty decent place to get fitted with a good shoe, or at least a proper insole. The folks who work here all seem to be pretty well trained, and if you get someone really good, they will even watch you walk and analyze your gait. Make sure you do a before and after with the insole on the machine. I finally got fitted for the proper SuperFeet insole here which has been awesome. read more

so i've been having wicked runner's knee for years regardless of what shoe i buy. i finally decided it's time to get fitted for an insole while i was here shopping for a sweet 574 (which unfortunately they don't really have any sizes from 7-9 for women because they're apparently popular as hell). they personally fit you and get you up on this cool contraption that will show you how high your arch is and will fit you with the appropriate insole. plus this weeekend they had a 15% off deal for the insoles. it came out to be less than 60 which is a steal if it will help me with these aches. ben was the one who helped me and i would have to give him an a++! so helpful and patient because i had no clue. also i sent him to the stockroom a few times looking for various 574s ha. thank you! read more

Great location, great prices and selection. Staff very knowledgable. The staff will use a special computer to measure your exact shoe size: length, width and arch. I recommend this store to my family and friends. They have a big sales section too. Staff can recommend the perfect shoes and insoles for you, my favorite are the Superfeet orthotics. read more

After usually ordering my New Balance shoes online or buying them at Sears, I somehow noticed that there is a New Balance store in Pasadena. They have some fancy apparatus that measures your feet and your arches. I have wide feet, and New Balance makes some of their shoes in wide width. Miguel was super patient with me while I tried on lots of shoes. I ended up buying some classics (even though they don't come in wide) since they are way more stylish than any of the new shoes. The store has its own parking lot and I passed a Bentley on my way out. read more

I was shocked by the service at the Pasadena location tonight. I waited for ten minutes while the two employees were so engrossed with their sales they wouldn't even acknowledge I was in the store. To the point of absurdity- after five minutes I sat down near them and stared at them but they wouldn't make eye contact. I don't mind waiting, seriously, but I would have felt better if they had made an indication I was in the store, obviously waiting to try on a pair of shoes. Interestingly, another customer noticed this and told me she had the exact same treatment when she came in. She told me it was the first time in the store and the way they acted was outrageous. I told her they had always been great in the past. Crossing my fingers it was just a fluke. Everyone has an off day. read more

I found this store and brand 2years ago. I was on my feet training clients at my gym from 5am until 9pm. Thats not a typo and my little toes wish I were lying. They remember lol. After a few months of this insane schedule, plus working out myself, I would have days when I would hobble to work. HOBBLE. I of course started trying to remedy the problem on my own. I bought new athletic shoes. Name brand stuff from the mall. I'd be cured for a few days and then right back to hobbling. Why? Cause they were always the wrong shoes. Then one of my clients, after he could finally breathe in-between sets since I can be tough sometimes lol, recommended New Balance in Pasadena. This place freaking rocks! First they have a machine I had never seen before, measure and examine how my feet sit. Then they find the right TYPE of shoe for your feet. Even the right inserts! I had no idea I had been wearing the wrong type of athletic shoes. Thats what caused my feet to hurt! I still get insanely busy but i've never had problems with my feet again. Recommended two different shoes and a orthotic that is so different from anything I have seen. I bought the shoes and orthotics and my foot is feeling better. I needed some new kicks for my rounds at the hospital. I'm a very heavy set guy, so I needed some well needed support. The shoes salesman measured my feet and asked me to walk. He assessed my stride and got me two shoes to try on. After test driving both shoes back to back, I fell in love with one. I also got some expensive sole inserts too. 12 hour shifts have nothing on my feet. Now if I could only upgrade my brain :p My experience here was great. Hi yelpers. I have been a customer of the New Balance Stores since 2000. I used to frequent the Santa Monica location and Mark the store manager from this Pasadena location was the former assistant manager at the Santa Monica location. Last July I walked into the Santa Monica store expecting to be greeted by Mark who always has a warm welcoming smile and low and behold, I found out he had been promoted to Store Manager of the Pasadena location. I kissed Santa Monica goodbye and off to the Pasadena location I went. Pasadena is now my store because of Mark. He always helps me out and gives me advice on the correct shoe to wear. I have a lot of issues with my feet due to two corrective foot surgeries and knee surgeries on both knees. He lets me know when new models arrive of my favorite 990. Not just that, but he really cares about recommending the best shoe for your foot care needs. When I met him I had horrible plantar fasciitis that was excruciating. He recommended the 990 shoe and I have never had a problem since. He knows which shoe is the best for my feet. I now bring friends to him because he is a FIT specialist and I know their feet are in good hands with Mark. I love this location because it is huge with lots of inventory and they have a computer that will measure your feet and arch that determines where your foot needs the best support to insure you get the right shoe and arch support for your needs. They have their own parking lot too. I can't recommend this store, product, and Mark high enough. I have literally bought hundreds of shoes from New Balance and will only do so at this store! The employees at the store are very kind and patient and there is no hard sell. All are trained to be fit specialists and really have the best interest of your feet when assisting and advising customers. read more

He showed me how to lace my shoes in a different way, plus he showed me my options of shoes and why this would help. The foot pain is gone and it was well worth the trip. "If the shoes don't fit, you must acquit"? Well, sort of. If a shoe fits poorly, do not buy it. Do not buy insoles in hopes they will fit comfortably. Shoes that are uncomfortable are that, because they are uncomfortable. Bought shoes here a while back and was not happy with the fit, so I bought some $70 Superfeet insoles to remedy that. Buy $70. insoles to make brand new shoes fit comfortably? Yeah, that's what I thought. But, since the shoes had the arch support just about removed, insoles were mandatory. Dummy me, went ahead and bought them both. I was desperate. Tried them out to give them a chance to feel good. Never did feel good. Dumped them in my closet so I could try them out later. Forgot about them, and since time had elapsed, I couldn't return them. I had really good experience with New Balance, before. Not sure if it was this pair of shoes or the whole NB shoe style. Best advice: If the shoes are uncomfortable, nothing with make it fit right. Not special socks, and especially not $70 insoles. I know everyone needs to make a living, but if a shoe is not working out, just send the customer elsewhere. What's the point of this review? Listen to your feet, and don't fall for the store's displays or claims. Your feet know comfort more than anyone's expertise. read more

Friendly staff with a good selection of shoes for all types. My wife bought her pair from here after receiving a recommendation from a mutual friend. All the other stores didn't have the exact shoe she needed to use while working out. This store had it available in two different colors. The staff member that helped her didn't try to push something different or up sell her with additional items that were not needed. The store was really clean and not messy which in my book it's always a plus. There is plenty of parking in front of the store. read more

Gotta say that I've never felt so comfortable shopping for shoes before. I came here looking for outdoor running shoes because my old pair were done for. I know my feet over-pronate so I was looking for shoes with some good support since I get bad shin splints and plantar fasciitis when I'm in the wrong shoes. Ben, the ASM helped me get feet analyzed then picked out a couple of shoes for me to try out. I was even able to try some with inserts in them and that sealed the deal on my new pair of shoes. I think a lot of people tend to just pick out shoes without really looking into support, or what they're using it for which is important in the long run (no pun intended). If you're new to running, or just don't know a lot about running shoes vs. training shoes, this would be a great place to start. The staff are knowledgable and helpful without being overly pushy! Bought some court shoes for over $100. The shoes had a "tread warranty" for one year. Two months later the tread on the heel and on the front ball of the foot was bare, I mean zero tread. This is the place To go for shoes! Super knowledgeable and professional staff. It's always super busy, but because these are the best shoes and store. I've gone to Run with Us so many times, and they are no where as knowledgeable on fittings as NB. The analysis machine is hands down the best ever. I am 6' 2" with small feet, the right foot being half a size smaller than the left foot. As a result of high weight on a small area, for years my feet have hurt if I have done a lot of walking, running on a treadmill, etc. Also, I have very high arches and I have not been able to stop the pain using off the shelf inserts. 3 months ago I purchased New Balance shoes and used their service to have a machine map the underside of your foot and then have custom orthotics milled for you. I did this and it worked great. I am now able to walk much farther without pain and can even use a treadmill to work out. It was not cheap - $240. However, amortizing that over a year or two and it is not expensive. I obtained custom orthotics from a doctor in the past that cost $500. The ones from New Balance work much better. read more

Popped in on a whim last Sunday before we went to see Justice League at the Arclight and was super impressed with this New Balance store! We were immediately greeted at the door by an employee and made feel welcome. They were very busy around lunch time, but a salesperson was right there to help us. We wanted to browse around first and I really appreciated that the guy didn't hover constantly. He also had another customer to take care of. But when I found a shoe I wanted to try on he was right there to help me. When I told him that I was in a running group, he asked about my habits and needs and put me on a computer scanner in order to get me the right fitting shoe. We found a pair that cost a bit more than I usually spend on running shoes, but after wearing them for the first time on Tuesday evening on a run in Griffith Park, I am convinced they are worth every penny! No pain, yay!!! I wish I had remembered the sales person's name, but I don't think it matters. They all seem to know what they're doing and provide great customer service. I can only recommend this store to runners all over L.A.! read more
