    Sumi when we got home
    Darcie I.

I kind of feel like finding the right groomer for our dogs, is like finding the right hairdresser or barber for ourselves. We ( humans ), will search high and low until we find someone we trust with our hair.... Our fur babies deserve the same. We have gone to a few different places for our pups. Petsmart, Petco, Live, love Pet, and somewhere in Pearl City that was so so... I was okay with Live love Pet, our last groomers, but slowly fell out of love with them. Chloe our mini daschund just made 11, and Sumi our terrier mix just turned 9 and it was long overdue for a grooming visit. They were still traumatized from their last visit with the above mentioned groomers, so I needed to wait a bit until making their appointment. Made an appointment for both of them here, and I just felt at ease at drop off. Their appointment was at 8:30 and I got the call to pick them up at 11:30. 3 hours for 2 dogs, full bath and grooming, with anal glands, nail trim, ear cleaning and sweet smelling teeth! I was not expecting their appointment to take only 3 hours, as the previous place said 6 -7 hours is normal, but I realized at pick up that they do not overbook, and really spend one on one time with your puppers. When I picked them up, they were happy to see me- but not desperate to get out of there. There was another small Pomeranian pup that they were hanging out with. The summer cut looks good on both of them, and it definitely helps me feel better at night when they are sleeping on me!

We have used this salon for a while now. Our groomer left and now Malika is grooming our dog Demi. Same quality results. Demi is very calm and relaxed when we pick her up. Malika (and Ami previously) always took a picture for us (see below). We still highly recommend New Breeze Dog Salon for your grooming needs!

They did an amazing job on my standard poodle Luna! She was extremely detailed, and her crazy curly hair is incredibly soft now. She gave me great advice on how to maintain her hair at home to prevent matting after the beach. This place is a little more pricey than what I'm used to paying, but you definitely get quality service.

We added another pup to our Ohana. I never had a Pomeranian before but I read up on grooming styles. I called to book an appointment for both pups and mentioned Kea the Pom. The owner graciously spoke to me at length about cuts, styles and some issues that can happen with grooming Poms. I chose mostly scissor cut to keep her coat more traditional. Gigi had another been a client for a year and now Kea will be joining her sister on grooming visits. I appreciate that the pups aren't at the salon half the day and I know the pups enjoy going and socializing there too.

My 16 year old Yorkie became very anxious during grooming and his regular groomer didn't want to groom him anymore. Thank goodness my friend, who is very happy with this salon, had inquired whether they would accept difficult dogs and thankfully Ami at the salon accepted him. I was so amazed that Ami didn't put a muzzle on him and was able to calm him down. Not only did she give him a great haircut, but cut his nails which were the hardest to clip as he has gotten older. Thank you Ami for accepting him especially since I couldn't find any other salon that would accept him. Parking was easy, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this salon especially for "difficult older" dogs.

New Breeze Dog Salon - I'll say Big Mahalo to Yelp for this little gem! We'd been searching for a new groomer for well over a year. An unfortunate experience with a groomer in Kilohana Square had Ipo, our Bichon mix quaking every time she went to the groomer. As a dog with hair, not fur Ipo needs to be groomed very four to six weeks and she was miserable every four to six weeks. We went through several groomers during this time and the best we came up with was, "lesser of two evils". The experiences were okay, better is some ways, not as much in others, but they were always something lacking ... plus Ipo was never really thrilled with any of them. Tolerant is the word that comes to mind. Then, I came across New Breeze Dog Salon. Located in Kaimuki off Waialae Avenue and in between 11th and 12th Avenues, this is the same place you'll find Big City Diner, Himalayan Kitchen, Angelo Pietro's, The Movie Museum, and many, many other quality establishments. Parking can be a little challenging, depending on the time of day because people flock to the aforementioned quality establishments at mealtimes. It's a municipal lot with a 20 minute grace period or free parking for E-Vehicles. Malika was Ipo's stylist and we and spent about half an hour familiarizing ourselves with each other. We explained that Ipo has juvenile cataracts and has been mostly blind her whole life. Malika made sure Ipo was not only comfortable in her surroundings but confident as well. It would be longer than the usual couple of hours for Ipo's appointment. As Malika explained, on the first visit she usually takes longer so that she can gain the trust of the animals she grooms. We were offered the option to stay and watch or drop back in from time to time to just check. We (and I'm including Ipo and FPO in this) were all reassured by this approach. And when we went back? Ipo wasn't quite finished but she was calm and relaxed. Didn't even seem to care that I'd returned, which was equal parts reassuring and disconcerting. I loved the cut. Malika did exactly as we'd asked. I made another appointment on the spot. I hope New Breeze stays in business for years to come because I don't want to have to explain to Ipo or FPO if we need to find another groomer.

    Gizmo's first time.

Today was Gizmo's spa day at New Breeze Dog Salon. This was his first visit there and he was very excited. First off you can either park in the pay lot or on street parking. During lunch and early dinner parking is a little more difficult. You have to enter from the back and you enter in to a quaint business. One of the things I liked about New Breeze is that the grooming is done in the open for everyone to see. Also Malika took her time to ask questions about Gizmo. After the Q and A with Malika, she gave a couple of suggestions about how Gizmo should be groomed. I liked her suggestions and picked what she felt was the best for him. I left and returned home expecting her call back in 3 hours. Gizmo's hair was a matted around his feet and he had extremely long nails so I assumed she would be taking the whole 3 hours. She called a half hour early and said Gizmo was ready. I wasn't able to arrive until the third hour but on my return Gizmo looked happy running around the office as Malika did her office work. Gizmo also looked wonderful. He has been to two other groomers but Malika has been the best. Not only did he look good, he smelt like candy. I had to wait 2 and half months for my appointment since this was our first but it was well worth the wait. I already made Gizmo's appointment for his next spa day.

Late post but I just wanted to let people know that I really like this small and quaint salon for dogs. I say quaint because there are 2 wicker chairs right outside the doors that has shade if you wish to wait. It's located in the Waialae Ave parking lot right next to First Hawaiian Bank. I was very lucky to have the owner Malik's to do my Shih Tzu's grooming. It came out wonderfully done and very awesome service! I will go back again when it's time for another grooming to be done!

Very patient with the dogs. Spends the time and energy to perfect the grooming. No rushed haircuts. Gives love to the dogs that calms the dogs. They do small and some larger dogs as well.

    Beautifullly done. Thank you!

Simply The Best grooming salon in town! Very kind and gentle so Daisy is comfortable here. I won't take her anywhere else. I love the pictures they text me when she's finished.

Murf groomed! - Picture taken by Rie
    Chelsey T.

So grateful to have found this dog salon a couple years ago or so in an advertisement. Rie is such an awesome groomer and person! How do I know this? Because my dog, Murf, LOVES it here. As soon as we arrive, he already knows where he's heading. He happily struts in and doesn't look back. Murf has never looked so happy to go get groomed....ever! Usually he's crying or clawing at me to stay with him. This salon is located off of 12th Ave and Waialae Ave. It's a gated paid parking lot, but they give you some leeway for free parking. It's enough time to park, drop off/pick up your dog(s). TIP: Appointments have been getting a little bit more difficult for Saturdays because they are that awesome! Please book in advance if you need to have a weekend (Saturday) appointment. I like to schedule my appointments far in advance now a days.

    Boscoe
    Dwayne Y.

This place is amazing! I took Boscoe here for the first time and he was so happy! The two ladies really pampered my dog. He got a bath. They cleaned his teeth, ears, and anal glands. And, they also cut and files his nails. When I picked him up, he smelled so good and looked so clean. This place is really popular so I made the appointment 2 months in advance. The wait was well worth it. All of the dogs there look so happy like they all enjoy being there! Plus, there was a little girl, I am assuming one of the owner's daughter who was there taking photos and petting the dogs. New Breeze has such a warm and inviting environment. I can't wait to take Bosoce again soon.

My 14 year old dog is one of my babies, so I'm very particular with his care. Malika and Francis were so kind and gentle with him, and they asked detailed questions about his health before our appointment. I appreciate that they took these extra steps to ensure his safety. He strutted out of his grooming session confidently and just looked adorable.

So I was looking for a pet boarding for ten days in the month of May 2026. We live in town and…read morewe're looking for someplace for our fur-baby, 3yo German shepherd terrier mix, to stay while we were gone. We were looking for a reputable place who would care for our pet as if she was home. Someplace she would feel safe since we know she has anxiety issues and is really shy around strangers and may be aggressive if provoked. We tried leaving her with family, but because of her temperament, they suggested a boarding care. She is great with their dog, but they too were looking for boarding for their pet. And because they go to a pet daycare weekly, they were sending their pet to their favorite pet daycare. So while I was searching a came across Happy Puppy Kingdom. The website and instagram pages showed doggies having fun and their prices were reasonable and their care packages were affordable. We made contact through Yelp and on to our introductory appointment. We also were able to provide Kamalani's vaccine records. As certain vaccines must be given in order to book the appointment's "meet and greet". The Owner, Sophia, was so caring, gentle, and loving towards Kama. She talked to her and built a trust for us and Kama. So we started to take Kama for weekly visits starting in January 2026. We knew Kama was going to be reluctant to go because she hasn't been around other dogs a lot and only family & family pets, and knew getting her used to HPK may take a while. As the months went by she started to know which days she got to go visit "her friends". We literally asked the day before if she wanted to "see your friends!"" And she would get so excited. Jumping up, wagging her tail, looking around for Miss Sophia. And when I'd drop her off she can't wait to get out of the car. In April we did the first overnight, and it was hard, for us. Constantly looking at the clock, expecting her to greet us at the door, and her hugs and kisses...nothing!! But she did great!! HPK said she didn't eat the food we provided, so they gave her their homemade food & she really enjoyed it. So when the days came for us to leave we knew Kama was in great care with HPK. We got pictures and videos of Kama when we were away. And it turned out, our in-laws also sent their 7yo hybrid poodle, Mochi, there too. And they said Kama protected her when she was scared. When we came to pick them up they were so happy to see us!! We know Happy Puppy Kingdom took such great care of our fur-babies and that this is a loving and caring place to leave them if we ever plan another trip. Sophia reassured us and gained our trust & Kama loves her too!!!

I knew that whenever I needed to travel, he would likely do better in a boarding environment than with in-home care because being left alone was especially stressful for him. With that in mind, I started looking for a boarding facility that also offered daycare so he could gradually become comfortable with the environment before any overnight stays. I found Happy Puppy Kingdom through Google and was immediately drawn to the fact that they specialize in smaller dogs. I also appreciated that Sophia requires an assessment before accepting new dogs. When I brought my dog in for his assessment several months ago, he was quite nervous. Sophia was incredibly kind, patient, and understanding as he adjusted to the facility. She kept me updated with photos and videos as he gradually inspected the facility and settled in. Now my dog absolutely loves his weekly visits to Happy Puppy Kingdom. I brought him for daycare once a week for three to four months, which helped build his confidence and familiarity with the staff and environment. When the time finally came for his first overnight stay, he had a fantastic experience. I cannot thank Sophia and her team enough for keeping my baby safe, happy, and well cared for while I was away. Sophia is friendly, caring, and genuinely passionate about the dogs in her care. It is clear that she and her staff are dedicated to creating a safe, positive, and enriching environment where dogs can thrive. I highly recommend Happy Puppy Kingdom to anyone looking for a safe, welcoming, and fun place for their dog. My dog has come such a long way since I adopted him, and the Happy Puppy Kingdom has played a huge role in his development.

After booking appointment on phone after a cancel to reschedule phone call I ran into a schedule confusion on their end. I made a 3 minute phone call to reschedule and a date and time was picked and confirmed. Then a message was left 3 minutes or so later from a team member acting like the 3 minute reschedule phone call never happened. I did not see the message due to my busy schedule and when i did i assumed the phone call person put on schedule as i had done in my i phone calendar live on phone with an alarm. When i arrived no one answered phone or text. During this time one of two cats did a number 2 in crate. Once i got a hold of them they said no appointment. I told them i drove 2 hrs from north shore for appointment. Basically 4 hrs round trip! So they said sense i'm a good customer they would do a complimentary 1 night boarding. I accepted big mistake. I offered to clean the crate and rinse cat off that went #2. They said not to worry! I said thank you! They waited 1 hr than texted they were going to throw crate away because it could not be cleaned. They said they'd sell me a new one. I declined said i'd drive back to pick it up and clean myself. So add 2 more hrs driving. I cleaned with sprayer and water in 6 minutes or less. Looked brand new since #2 was still not dry. Annoyed i said make cat haircuts 30 minutes each and do what you can in 30 min each cat otherwise skip and do shampoo brush only. Later way later said impossible that they did one cat at like 60 minutes when i said no. Than was charged a spicy cat fee for one that went number 2 and charged multiple wash fee for that cat. No brush nothing special just some lame work for that cat! That was $55 dollars. So basically tried to up charge on a carrier when mine was brand new and did me dirty on their invoice game! To top it off i said i'd return the same day as drop off day to just get the cats and that i was over it and id pay for 1 bath of cat that went #2. They said I'd have to be there by 5 pm. They waited until i was in Pali tunnel than said never mind come tomorrow at a time i drop my daughter off in Hauula 2 hrs away! They knew that ! My daughter is 2 days out training for a horse jumping competition and they could not have derailed our schedule any better. About 9 hrs total in car! The one cat got a decent haircut/shampoo but i was forced into after trying to cancel do to my annoyance of having me drive 2 more hrs to get the crate. Being how expensive a good crate is I'm glad i drove back and got it. Being so annoyed I found a new groomer to do same hair cut and bath for what they charge just for a long hair cat bath. Not impressed. Also found better pricing on boarding for future. I'd give more stars on boarding but not grooming. 1 star for grooming. Girls that work there are nice but definitely something off with owners! Real bummer never had issues boarding but after this fiasco I realized their grooming prices are double other places.
