We did a full service and the ladies were SO attentive to our dog's needs. They listened as I told them about her MANY conditions and problems and were very supportive of her. It also eased my mind when they sent constant picture updates of my Peanut. The best part is usually after a groomer appointment, Peanut disappears and hides because she had so much trauma, but she came home and it was like nothing had happened. My mom received a maltese to foster and she had terribly matted hair and wouldn't let anyone try to brush her. I contacted a few pet salons and the itchy pooch happened to have a same day cancellations and great reviews so I booked Lani an appointment. Parking was very easy in the back of the building and everyone was so friendly even though Lani was definitely scared. She won't even let anyone touch her face so I'm amazed at how great of a job the ladies did! She looked so much happier and cleaner after the visit! I also love that they send photos and updates throughout the appointment as I was worried how Lani would react. We recieved a same day appointment and was in and out within 10-15mins. My hiʻu boy is usually a nipper/biter when it comes to nail trimming but their staff handled him with such good care and lots of love. Brought my 4 year old corgi here for the first time recently and the staff were great. Very accommodating, pleasant and easy to chat with about my dogs personality and concerns. They understood how anxious my dog seemed and did their best to make him feel comfortable before grooming him which I appreciated a lot. I think the groomer's name was Jaime? She seemed very confident which I think helped when trying to groom my Dog, so I left the salon feeling no doubts or worries. I was surprised how quick they got him groomed too! I'd say within 2 hours. When I picked him up, he seemed comfortable sitting in the crate all neat and cleaned. He got a perfect trim around. I liked it. I also appreciated the fact they told me I could bring him back, but on a slow day.. which is understandable because I know my dog is kinda a bit difficult to handle. Location wise, was easy to find. Not only was this completely opposite to the photo I had shared with them prior to the appointment, but the owner's complete disregard for my concerns and preferences left me speechless. Instead of an apology, she bombarded me with excuses. For those unaware, shaving a Pomeranian's coat can lead to alopecia x - a skin condition where the hair doesn't grow back due to the destruction of the hair follicles. Now, several months later, my dog's hair still hasn't grown back. A recent vet visit confirmed he has alopecia x from shaving. This was an incredibly traumatic experience for both my dog and me. The ladies that run Itchy Pooch are super nice and are clearly caring people. I am comfortable leaving my doggie with them...but after three visits, I have decided I will never return. I am just not very happy with the results. They are capable trimmers, my doggie is clean when she comes home, and I feel like they are kind custodians of my baby girl. I am not pleased with their aesthetic or their (current) price. I brought my doggie here for her very first grooming session and wanted to cry when she was returned. They really just shaved her down and didn't make her pretty. We paid around $80 +tip at that time. Having no other idea for where else to go, we returned a few months later and although I tried to give instructions on what I liked, she looked horrible. A buzz cut that made me want to cry...again. Since then we have been going elsewhere and we LOVE the results. I recognize that this is not an easy job and I do give them credit for being really nice ladies and having a very positive vibe with the doggies. This is fundamental. Recently, I messed up and forgot to schedule with my regular groomer. In a pinch, I decided to get my girl groomed here again while I awaited her usual appointment. Nothing has changed. She was returned to me with a short cut and she looked pretty bad. I again described what I wanted but they are just not able to do it. Or they just have a different aesthetic than I do. I did cry this time. I also wanted to punch myself when they charged me $120! Of course, I tipped them as I always do. Even my usual groomer doesn't charge me that much. And since I have two doggies, thank goodness! Bottom line: these are really nice people and if you don't care what your doggie looks like then I can recommend this place. If you care about the aesthetics of your doggy's cut, then you may wish to check out another place. I have a review of my favorite groomer should you care to look for it. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this fantastic place yet!! I have been bringing my fur baby Gambit here since he was 5-6 months old, he's now a year old :) You know how dogs act differently with different people? My spoiled pup absolutely refuses to have me cut his nails ... fights me to the death on it! I walk away with scratches from his talons and dog fur covering me :| He sheds ... a lot. He also fights me when I give him a bath -_- I scoured Yelp for the best groomer and came across Itchy Pooch. I read all the reviews and eventually called the shop. I had questions!! But they were very patient and made me so comfortable with my new fur mommy questions that I made an appointment for him that same week. Gambit is a chihuahua/terrier, so his hair doesn't need cutting, I could make another dog from his shedding. It's mainly his nails and his stinky fur. How is it that when I give him a bath at home he stays soft and clean for a couple days ... but when he gets a bath from aunty he stays fresh smelling and soft for weeeeeks!!?? And ah ... what kind of shampoo do you use?!?! Dear lord it smells so good! Also, he doesn't shed a lot after :/ I recently told her about my expedition on the nail cutting. She told me that she first cuts and then uses the grinder AND he LOVES it!!! Whaaat?!? Were we talking about the same dog here??? Said he doesn't give her a hard time :( Maybe he can sense my anxiety .. I always fear that I'll cut to much of his nail off and he'll bleed all over .. I like to take him in every month for a bath, nail trimming, ear cleaning and anal gland expression. Cost me $35!! Very inexpensive and services are far exceeded!! The first time I brought him in, she explained that she took a picture of him and saved it with my number so that way when I called for an appointment they'd know what dog is was for :D Smart! Expect your first dog grooming appointment to take a while, especially if your pup has never been to a groomer. My first visit was about 4 hours, after that it was maybe an hour or two ... depending on how many dogs they have that day. AND your pup gets a bag of treats to take home and a bandana. Gambit loves the treats there better than the ones I have at home :/ I would definitely recommend Itchy Pooch. They are affordable. They make you and your pup feel so comfortable. The last salon I went to (in California) had friendly service but I wasn't always 100% satisfied with Sandy's haircut. However, the ladies at Itchy Pooch are very good at blending the fur and making the cuts flawless. My dog usually doesn't take treats in public but she will take them at the itchy pitch salon. We've been to Petco and he's absolutely hated it there :/ his eyes will well up with tears, he refuses to go in the store unless carried, and he'll ignore us once we arrive home. After reading such great reviews for Itchy Pooch, I figured it was worth a shot and made an appointment! Their service is so friendly from the initial phone call to pick up! When we got there, they walked me through their process and what the alternatives were (say he didn't like the blow dryer), how long it would take (2-2.5 hours) and let me know what they were able to do/not do at the end of the appointment! Jordan didn't seem skittish at all - he just trotted around and was even asleep when I picked him up! I couldn't have been more happy seeing that he was happy, but to top it off, it was extremely affordable! I also really, REALLY appreciate the groomer pointing out that Jordan might be experiencing a food allergy :( I would've completely overlooked his symptoms had she not said anything since I thought they stemmed from a little dust during our move. Thinking back, I had bought a different formula of food which truly coincides with the onset of his itchiness, so I tossed the food and started him on an elimination diet! Her majesty, Princess Aurora of Schofield Barracks had her royal bath and brushout here, today. She has asked that I convey our pleasure at the service we both received. Whew, Aurora was in need of a grooming. I don't want to say my dog looked bad, but my dog looked baaaddd. I called Ohana, no. I called Wan Wan, no. I called Itchy Pooch, ding ding ding! Made the appointment over the phone, and showed up on time. Parking is available in a small-ish parking garage beside the store. Parking is free. Spaces are small. Walked in and was immediately greeted. Nice. Aurora was, too. Nice. Then the mother and daughter (maybe? I am not sure) took the time to talk to Aurora and give her treats for sitting on command. Very nice. Nothing like the abject terror Aurora shows at being dragged into Clip and Dip, the princess was all wags. Matt-y wags. With ratty-looking paw fur. I spoke with the owner (I think) about what her majesty needed and she saw me off. Walked back in at the scheduled pick-up time and she was almost ready. Aurora was being very good and the groomer (owner?) was wonderful with her. I could hear her talking to Aurora, on the table, while I was waiting in the reception area. They treat dogs very well here. Aurora got a green bow for St. Patrick's Day and a treat bag for being good. She looks FABULOUS. Plus, she was happy as a clam with a doppio espresso when I got her. A total 180 of her demeanor at some other places we've been. Walking back to the car, Aurora got cat called. Driving down Ala Moana, Aurora got cat called and kisses blown at her. Getting on to Nimitz, Aurora got her picture taken as she leaned out of the car and posed for some Japanese tourists. We'll be back. read more
