I was told talk to manager who was not there at that time. I sat, I waited. At 1200 I asked for my most recent prescription which I was given. Then she pointed to the person helping a customer and said that was the manager. She could have told the manager that someone wanted to speak with them, but she didn't. I choose to support local businesses, however, with Dr Ammon semi retired his people and the customer interaction has slid. For three years I have been a customer as was my daughter and my deceased husband. We we no longer use Hockessin Eyeworks.

There was no rushing the remake and I did not receive my glasses for another +2 weeks. I called on a Friday and was told they'd be in on Monday. By 3 pm Monday, I called again to check. I was told they "hadn't gotten a chance" to check in the shipment. While I was on the phone, the person did open the box and confirmed my glasses had arrived and I could stop by and pick them up. When I arrived, my glasses still hadn't been "checked in". They were quite pleasant when my order was taken, but the service I received after that was poor, at best. Fortunately, the glasses are great.

I am sure Dr Steinbach is still a fine doctor - but you can't get an appointment. I called as soon as I received a reminder card and was pushed out three months! The central reception service said "they were very busy because of back to school". Well, two weeks before the appt, I needed to reschedule - and was pushed out another two months. The women that I spoke with were rude and uncaring - very different from the previous office staff. Additionally, they don't run a cancellation list. Dr Steinbach is a fine optometrist, but certainly not worth waiting five months for a regular eye exam. As a long time customer, I find the changes in staff, process and service here disheartening. I will be changing doctors.

The doctors explain everything thoroughly. While the eyeglasses are not inexpensive, I have my serious work pair made here (a combination reading and computer lens) because I depend on them for detail reading work. I feel good about getting yearly exams to make sure my eyes stay healthy. If there were a problem, one gets referred to their opthamologist associates. As we get older, there are many potential eye problems so a yearly exam and being able to call someone if there is an emergency is important.

This happened on 8/14/24. I went to an opthamologist to make sure my eyes were healthy. When the…read moregirl started to give me an eye test, I said hang on, I'm not here to get an eye test, just to see if my eyes are healthy. I have reading glasses only, and they are doing OK. She said, Oh we do it all here. I said, you may do it all, but does medicare pay for it all. I know they pay for a health checkup. She said yes they do. After she was done, I went to another room where I waited for the doctor. When he started to check my eyes, I asked him if an eye test was covered by medicare. He told me it was. Several weeks later, I received an invoice for $50 for REFRACTION. I called the billing department and asked why I was getting billed for this. She explained that is was part of my eye test. I told her what the dr and the first girl told me. She said the REFRACTION is NEVER paid by Medicare. It's something the Medicare and your supplement will not pay. I asked why I wasn't told this upfront. She didn't know why, but that I owed it. I felt there was no way out, so I paid it. But then it started to bother me. That whole place should know the REFRACTION isn't paid by medicare and should warn their patients before they enter. So that is why I am writing this so hopefully senior citizens will not be taken by the " everything is OK, we are here to help" attitude. Ask questions, don't take for granted they are telling you the truth about everything.
