I've been going here for 20 years. I get a yearly eye exam and had my cataract surgery done by their associates Advanced Eye Care. I appreciate having yearly exams and the office has some up-to-date instrumentation for viewing the retina and behind it. The staff is friendly and efficient. The doctors explain everything thoroughly. While the eyeglasses are not inexpensive, I have my serious work pair made here (a combination reading and computer lens) because I depend on them for detail reading work. I feel good about getting yearly exams to make sure my eyes stay healthy. If there were a problem, one gets referred to their opthamologist associates. As we get older, there are many potential eye problems so a yearly exam and being able to call someone if there is an emergency is important. read more

The doctors and staff are wonderful. They are always polite and helpful. I have had wonderful experiences at Simon for the past decade. However, the corporate policies are the worst. On a previous visit they charged me $40 just for sitting at the table to try on contract lenses, even though didn't buy any. On my last visit, I intentionally didn't look at or show interest in contacts. They still charged $40 to my account because the doctor updated my prescription in the system. When I called to inquire about the charge, I was told I signed for it. In reality, I only signed for my glasses prescription. I wanted to take a moment to call out Chelsea from Simon Eye in Middletown. I had problem with my glasses-the rubber coating kept peeling off-and Chelsea helped me with a replacement pair of frames. When the problem happened again, Chelsea was there to help me select new frames and made sure I had what I needed. To my surprise, I had an issue with the lenses on the new pair! Fortunately, Chelsea was able to diagnose the problem and get right to work on getting me new lenses. She even adjusted my old glasses so that they would look ok while I waited for the replacements. What sets Chelsea apart from a lot of people who work with the public is her positive attitude and willingness to help. I am always happy when I get assigned to Chelsea because I know it will be a pleasant experience and I know I am dealing with a competent and reliable professional. The optical side of the business is five stars. The ophthalmology side is a nightmare. I had to have laser drilling, and on both appointments I had to wait nearly two hours to see the doctor. He is pompous, completely deviod of positive communication skills, and one of his nurses was so rude, I refused to let her help me. The front office staff was no better. They don't make eye contact, smile, nor do they let you know you are in for the wait of your life. I have raised the issue with my optician, and she assured me he will have a talk with him. However, should I need ophthalmology services, I will not see this doctor again. read more

I recently went in for an eye exam and the Optometrist was great. When I went to order glasses it always feels like I am at a car dealership. They try and upsell you to things you don't need. A young lady had the nerve to tell me that an $20 up charge for lenses is "just what they do and always did " but after calling my benefits I found out that she lied. And it' wasn't covered by insurance. They add stuff to your bill without telling you the truth when you ask. They work on commission and if you are male they'll put you with a female salesperson thinking they can finesse you out of your money. But why lie, like I wouldn't find out. Just beware of the lying sales people. read more

I had a super positive experience with this office when I experienced a sudden eye emergency while visiting from out of state. They worked me into the schedule on a busy Friday afternoon, and the technicians ran preliminary tests before I got to see Dr Tara Yerkes, who was friendly, efficient, thorough and professional. She made a diagnosis then pulled out all the stops to find a retina specialist who might be able to treat me over the. That required that she work late, well beyond closing time, which I recognize is a labor of love on a Friday! I'm just sorry that I don't live in the area because I would definitely continue here as a regular patient if I did. read more

I absolutely adore these people! Dr. Gardner is always happy to answer any and all questions I have, and I never feel like he's rushing me out the door. I recently had to switch to daily contacts because of an allergy problem, and when I ripped a contact and thought I had a piece stuck in my eye (which was completely my fault) Dr. Gardner was more than happy to help. He brought me back and after a thorough examination told me that I must've scratched my eye getting the pieces out, but he did it in a way that didn't make me feel like an idiot. Best part is, they didn't charge me for a visit, AND gave me 5 free replacement lenses for the one that had ripped. I could rave on and on about the superior service I get here, but I won't waste time with that. What I will say is that I will never go anywhere else! read more

Dr. Brown is a doctor that listens and asks questions. I would follow him to any new employer if he moves on. He makes you feel like a patient rather than insurance money, quick in an out. The greeting staff is not so friendly, regimented and on the phone setting up appointments. The glasses fittings on the other hand goes pretty well, that staff is great to deal with. I am the problem patient getting fitted. :-) But they bare with me and work through the fitting(s). read more

I am very happy I found Simon Eyes. The entire staff - from the front desk staff, to the optometrist and the contact and eye glass techs were extremely friendly, patient and helpful. Everything from my bill, my visit, my contacts, eye glasses and what needed to be done, were all explained to me in detail and in a way that customers could easily understand. My insurance did not cover as much as I first thought it would and the front desk staff were extremely helpful and made what could have been a frustrating time a very easy and enjoyable one. I was pleasently surprised at how well the staff treated each other. They were very friendly, respectful and helpful to one another. And were always willing to help each other out. The optometrist was thorough and my exam covered everything it needed to. The contact lens techs were friendly and lead me around when I took my contacts out and couldn't see. The eye glass tech was friendly as well. She was patient as I tried on several pairs of glasses. When I choose a pair that were on the more affordable side, she did not make me feel as if I was making a mistake. Nor did she try to upsell me or push me into a pair of glasses I did not want. My last eye doctor was like that and obviously I didn't go back. No one was pushy here and there was zero rudeness. I forgot some paperwork for the Peace Corps that the optometrist needed to sign off on, and the staff were more than accommodating in letting me come back and get the necessary documents signed. My contacts and glasses came in soon after my appointment and everything fit perfectly. I am very happy with the level of service from each and every staff member I interacted with and with the product I received. My entire experience from initial phone call to picking up my glasses was always a positive experience. read more

I took the time to read the information on the website about the individual drs., specifically Dr. Jeppe. When I entered the room I said good morning to him which he ignored. I tried to drum up some conversation, but he was clearly not interested. I finally asked him about one of his interests listed in his bio and he snapped at me and told me he didn't have time for it. That was the last time I went to him. One of the office workers confirmed that he is not a pleasant person. read more
