Just don't.Restaurant stinks,isn't clean.Food was not good.Egg rolls,shrimp fried rice,Mongolian beef,Sesame chicken was not good.Also egg rolls and the won tons were not good.Just don't! First point to make, they really have limited seating inside, however during Covid they have limited all orders to carry out only. They have the door set up so you can give them payments and they can give you the to go orders. We have had a variety of things from here including the Beef and Broccoli and the sweet and sour chicken. All orders come with a side of rice. We also like to add on the egg rolls. I like them here because they actually have a little crunch to the outside. Ingredients are always really fresh and the staff are really friendly. Typically we get the orders to go (even before Covid) and share two or three items and an egg roll (buffet style). That way you get a little bit of everything. Really good Chinese food and they have never disappointed. One thing to keep in mind, they are cash only (checks are accepted too) .... just no cc or Debit cards allowed here. If you're in the mood for Chinese give these guys a try. read more

I have been coming to New China for years. So long that I actually have their phone number memorized! Like another reviewer stated, I have never eaten inside either, although they have a few tables in the small dining room. But for take-out, they are my go to Chinese choice! The egg rolls are good. They are plenty big, crunchy on the outside and and the insides are cooked but not mushy. The steamed dumplings are a favorite. I don't know what the sauce is - like a teriyaki meets bulgogi - but it's sooo good. The mee fun is also delicious. The food is always just right when I get it home to eat. Still hot, but cooled off a bit after the 5-7 minute drive. For the family, I get something like two dinner combos, sesame and sweet and sour chicken (each comes with rice and egg roll) and dumplings. That easily feeds myself and two teenage sons, often with leftovers and cost about $20. We eat it buffet style, each person getting some of each! The staff of this family run restaurant is very friendly. After a brief conversation, each order ends with them telling me "10 minutes." I don't know how they always get it prepared so quickly no matter what time or how busy it gets! Tonight I must have called right at closing but they took my order and had it ready and they were all waiting to go home when I arrived to pick it up - but still smiling and thanking me and wishing me a good night. I dined while writing this review, and after eating maybe 1/4 of the above mentioned order, I am stuffed! So do not hesitate to grab New China on one of those "working late and I don't want to cook" nights, or any time you're in the mood for Chinese! I eat here usually about once every week or two, the staff are very friendly and the food is great, probably the best Chinese food in the Rainbow City are, or at least that i'm aware of. Like the other reviewer said, the sauce can be a little congealed from time to time but its never the sauce on the food, its the sauce that has collected in the bottom of the container, but its not bad in any way. I am sold on the sesame chicken here, it is great. The egg rolls are nice as well, as are the won-tons, shrimp rolls and soups. read more

I am a true fan of Chinese food and a native New Yorker. New China in Rainbow City Alabama (of all places) is every bit as great as those little hole in the wall Chinese take-out joints in the NY/NJ area. I've lived in this area for nearly two years and have never tried it before. That is such a shame as I missed out on some awesome food! I would have to travel to Atlanta (Canton Cooks) to get something close to my hometown Chinese food, but this is even better. ENJOY! read more

New China is a staple for our family. After all these years, we have never dined in. We always get take out. They are super fast. Food is always great. Family is always nice. Probable deserves 5 stars but I'm giving 4 because they don't take credit cards and there there is not a lot of creativity with the menu read more
