We had an absolute awesome experience here. We came after a pageant one night with a group of 9, kinds included. We had a small wait because the restaurant is smaller but it was a manageable wait time. They worked quick and as soon as the space was available we were seated. Everything was delicious! We had a mixture of sushi, egg rolls spring rolls and meals. It was all so fresh and delicious. I wished I had more room so I could keep eating! The service was great as well! Kept our drinks refilled and checked on us often, food was delivered quickly and fresh! Absolutely recommend giving them a try if you're in the area! read more

This is genuinely my favorite place to go back to when I am home with my family! My family comes here at least once a week! It is a small space and it definitely can get crowded during busy times. The service is always great, the food comes fast and everyone is nice. I get the chicken hibachi which is yummy. We also love to get the pork wontons and cheese wontons for an appetizer if we have a decent group there and they are always great! The sushi is also good and fairly priced! I will always come here when I'm back home so it is definitely worth checking out! read more

We ordered steamed dumplings as our appetizer which were literally cold. My companion order happy family and said it was very forgettable. I ordered Hunan Shrimp with vegetables which contained only 3 shrimp and was very bland, featured one mushroom and lots broccoli. I asked my companion her opinion of her "Happy Family" and she said "less than adequate"... We both ordered "fried" rice which was yellow, mushy in texture and tasteless. We both left much of our meals uneaten and didn't bother to take ANY of the leftovers home. Of concern was that management was aware of our concerns but seemed genuinely disinterested. read more

I love there food. We do take out a lot from them. The service can be rude sometimes. My daughter has an allergy and can not eat there. We used to stop by and get her a pizza next door and then come in and eat as a family. Apparently they did not like that. They did not treat us nicely when we did it. I was super disappointed. I'm very disappointed with them today. Menu states an egg roll comes with the dinners and I ordered extra so my husband and I could have 2 each but when he got there to pick up our dinners he was told egg rolls did not come with the dinner. He tried to explain that the menu stated that they did, and the person at the counter got so rude. We will not be back. It doesn't matter if the food is good when the attitude and service are so bad. read more

My family couldn't be more happy to have found Oishi! We stopped in for lunch, and EVERYthing we ordered was delicious! Pictured is my lunch entree of Hunan Chicken, which was outstanding! We also tried Mongolian Beef, Beef with Mixed Vegetables, Spring Rolls, Dumplings, and Oh Crab Sushi Roll. There wasn't a single thing we had that we didn't love. So we were doing at home Chinese and were wanting to get some egg rolls. Our normal place wasn't open so we gave them a call. Staff on the phone was friendly and took our order correct. Price was also pretty good. When we got there they had social distancing regulations - nobody was allowed in the restaurant - they had made up a way for you to go to the front door to place and pick up orders. Once I got there and paid the food was ready pretty quickly and within the time frame they had told me when placing the order. When we arrived at our destination - 15 minutes away - we set these out and started our meal. Really the reason for three stars is that they seem to have traveled ok, but were really just lacking flavor. So even though pricing wasn't bad - quality wasn't what we were hoping for. Not willing to give a lower review at this point, need to have a larger sampling size of the food and service they offer before improving or decreasing review stars. read more

This was a disappointing experience. The dining area was very dark with terrible overhead table lighting. A harsh, fluorescent like bulb that did nothing positive to illuminate the food. The service was good and attentive. The food portions were good but the taste and quality weren't. The rice tasted like 5-minute instant rice and the meat and sauces were over seasoned which reminded me of a fast food-type taste or a frozen dinner. Probably won't try this place again. You know the old saying, you get what you pay for? Well it definitely applies to Japanese Food. I would like to start out by mentioning the food here. The sushi was fairly good and reasonably priced, but the hibachi menu, not so much. As you can see in the pictures I posted, I ordered the hibachi steak and scallops, or scallop I guess I should say. The "Scallops" that I received was basically one sea scallop sliced into thin slices and cooked on the grill, which in the scallop sense causes them to become very rubbery. The steak was ordered medium well and came that way, but the quality of the steak was lacking. It seemed like a very low quality meat and wasn't very flavorful. (AKA You get what you pay for).. Moving on to the sushi, I read a few of the reviews on other websites and come people said that this place is better than Asahi in Gadsden. Well I wouldn't put them ahead of Asahi, but they are better than Kobe, making them the second best for sushi in Gadsden.. The sushi was flavorful and well designed. As for the confusing part of my title. This place is very confused.. The decor on the table carried an Egyptian Style, the walls had not a couple (but not many at all) Asian style decors and the music.. was country music.. Which I can't stand.. All of the plates and cups were Styrofoam take out styled and the sushi plates were also disposable. You order at the cash register then take a seat, its kind of strange the way they operate at this restaurant. I will say the only waitress/cashier/do everything person there was very nice and I give her kudos for that, and the place had 2 chefs operating the grill/making the sushi, that was all for the staff when we visited. Overall I probably won't be going back to this place, Kobe offers way way better food at just a little more in price and my love for sushi will go to Asahi. read more

The steak isn't as high quality - it is pretty much as low quality as you can get, while the photo makes it appear as ribeye or strip. The rice is not fried and is now yellow - just looks and tastes like regular rice with a tiny bit of vegetable in it. Food is your typical Chinese food place, nothing fancy. The pork wontons are tough pork meat, the Generals Taos chicken is your usual breaded dark meat chicken with a heavy sauce and some little bits of broccoli. The rice is nothing fancy, just white rice with chicken base and some vegatables, not really impressed with their over all, just fair for the price with lunch just setting you back about five bucks. read more

Perfectly acceptable american-style asian cuisine. I wouldn't call this "japanese" really, since they have chinese and I believe I spotted one or two korean meals on it. Still, the price is right and their sushi is perfectly fine. Their teriyaki is dark teriyaki, meaning that it's sweeter than the stuff you get out of your usual kikkoman bottle. Good stuff, though.
