They have always had a very large selection of food and I've always enjoyed it. When it's busy everything's hot but if you come at an off time and there's not many people you may have to go to the bottom of the pan for the heat. read more

Went for lunch yesterday. The buffet had a lot of choices but most, while looking different, had the same flavor. The only difference was the size and shape of the meat and the color of the sauce. Another thing that was not great was the dishes were not labeled. This made it hard for my husband who has a severe shellfish allergy. He was successful to not end up with his throat blocked. Then there were the customers. Why do people stack their plates to overflowing? The trail back to the tables was littered with whatever they had on top of of their plates. So at the recommendation of a friend, who now has me questioning her judgement, I decided to try this location for the first time. The entire experience was rough, starting with the rude hostess who ignored my request for direction to the restroom twice. I figured I'd move past that because surely the food would make up for the lack of hospitality right? Well there are a variety of options to choose from...so I made a plate to sample a few things and see what I liked...the roasted potatoes were gross and unseasoned, the meat was either extremely bland or extremely dry. There was no in between. i attempted to try the Mac and cheese and had to spit it into a napkin because it was that disgusting. The wonton soup was salty and the wontons had no filling in them. The pizza looked undercooked, and I wasn't brave enough to touch the salmon or fried chicken. The peaches looked almost brown. I had placed a cream puff on my plate that looked safe...however the puff was stale and the "whipped cream" type filling was hard (almost as if it was made incorrectly and was starting to go bad). I decided I was giving up this hopeless endeavor and asked to pay. I was handed a fortune cookie and thought at least I'd have that to make this pleasant...nPPW it was stale. This place made me sad, and I'm pretty sure I have food poisoning from the small amount of food I did eat. I'm currently nauseous and having to write this review from the safety of my bathroom. Only reason it got one start is I'm not allowed to give zero. I guess we will say the "positive" was that it was only $12 and they made sure I had plenty of water to wash down the unfortunate meal. read more

Great food!! It's my favorite restaurant in Albertville. I love their variety of sushi with Sriracha sauce. Their wonton soup with fresh green onions (optional) is delicious. The fresh salad bar is great and the hot bars are delicious!! Great pricing too, especially lunchtime! Try it you'll like it!! read more

They opened with great food and service. Over time their food has deteriorated and has become over cooked and some cold. If they're busy, often find many dishes empty. The price is reasonable the service is prompt though often no communication due to inability to understand English. The fried chicken has continued to be so over cooked that it's inedible. Beef and pork is tough. Their sushi bar has several selections though that's even diminishing to most contain the same ingredients. Hope they can pull it back up. read more

This was my third time going to Chow King. My first time eating at Chow King was with my sister in late 2015, just a few months after they had opened. It left much to be desired. The service was nonchalant and most of the food was bland. My sister and I were quite unimpressed. The second time, I went with the rest my family who wanted to try it out for their first time sometime in early spring of 2016. Again, the food left much to be desired, and the service was merely standard. I had many of the same criticisms of the food then as I did when I first ate there. Soon after, Chow King was shut down and featured on Kitchen Cops for having an abysmal score of 55 and nearly a dozen critical violations. They corrected the violations and resumed business, but I wondered if that was enough to be permanently damaging to Chow King's business. It had been over two years since my bad experience, and I noticed Chow King advertising a $5.85 Mon-Fri lunch buffet price. Their parking lot was full every time I drove past, so today I decided to try it out again to see whether or not I felt that Chow King was deserving of the business that it was getting. To my surprise, the food was actually quite a bit better than my previous experiences. In fact, it was to the quality at which I would recommend for others to try out. The sushi was still slightly sub-standard, but at the price of the entire buffet, it was well worth the price. The service was still a bit average, but I personally am less concerned with service than I am with food. I sent my sister a text of the Chow King bill, and she asked if the price was worth the regret. I responded that it had actually improved quite a lot since the last time we had eaten there, but she remained a skeptic. If the quality I experienced today is the same as what I can expect in the future, I'd be more than happy to return, and next time I'm making sure my sister comes with me. read more

So. There I was eating a well deserved lunch with my bestie enjoying myself and the food. Mostly fresh and hot. The taste was good. Had our drinks everything was fine. I started on my favorite thing in the world. Egg drop soup with fried noodles. Who doesn't love a good soup right? Let me tell you. As I'm adding noodles to my soup I looked down and there it was! A COCKROACH EGG SACK!!!! when I got up and brought it to our hostess' attention she tried to pass it off as a GREEN BEAN. I mean really?!? She went and got 2 other ladies who then also swore it was a green bean because they snap them drag in the kitchen. I was not convinced. While I didn't make a scene I did make my displeasure known and they did comp my check. However; they must know that the general public in this day and age knows what an egg sack pupa shell or just insect looks like. And to claim it was a different food item. Aside from the risk of cross contamination or allergen possibilities. Is just not good business sense. Until now I've loved chow king. But until I see a new health rating and proof they've gotten their " green beans " under control I won't be back. read more
