New China Wok is a decent spot for New York style Chinese food. Whenever I hear the term "New York style," I remember the old comic skit where the comedian says "New York style" means "not in New York." I did look up an article that would define the origin and true meaning of "New York style" and the article went right for the obvious that "New York style Chinese food is a style of cooking that originated in New York City." Right to the point. For me, my definition has always been that when I see "New York style Chinese food," I always think of Americanized Chinese food. Let me start off by saying, I love Americanized Chinese food. It is what I grew up on whenever we had Chinese food. While I love the more authentic regional Chinese dishes from more specialized Chinese restaurants, there will always be a place in my heart for items like lo mein, General Tso's chicken and others items that really are not Chinese, but more so, those dishes were born here in the United States. New China Wok offers a pretty solid version of Americanized Chinese food. I would definitely recommend New China Wok and I will give it four stars overall. read more

Whenever I'm in the area this is my go to spot. Yes, it's a hole in the wall, but that's the kind of places I've found the best NY style chinese. The General Tso's, Chicken & Broccoli and Chicken lo mein are my go tos. Everything is always hot and fresh. I recommend you call ahead because the line to order is very long. For COVID you're not allowed to enter the restaurant. They have a plexi glass box where you pay and a separate section of the box they sit your food in. As other reviewers stated there are 2 young girls working the front of the restaurant, but they have always been polite. The patron in front of me and behind me were both very short and rude to the young girl who was handling the front so to the other reviewers who stated the girls were rude, I'd double check how polite you were to them. Service is speedy. Food is reasonably priced and usually good. i usually order at least 1x a week. Lately the orders taste like fish, as if they're using the same grease. If I'd wanted fish, i would have ordered it. Very off-putting. read more

We lived in Deltona a few years ago but moved to Orange City.We ordered from here approximately three times a month, was always great Chinese food. We order now and the last three times it was awful! Different cooks I think. Today was the worse. Pepper steak is made with orange peppers which change the taste. General Tso chicken was more sweet then anything and the fried rice has no flavor at all. Will be looking for a decent Chinese restaurant now. So sad they had to change their recipes. read more

I just stopped here for the first time. Read the reviews here on yelp while I waited for my order. Looks hopeful. Got home and found that husband is working late. So I snacked on my egg roll. OMG! Amazing! Without a doubt the best tasting egg roll I have had in a very long time! Had the sweet n sour chicken for the meal. Unfortunately not as good. It was edible. But no where near as good as the egg roll. Disappointed. Will surely return though even if just for the egg roll! read more

Was terrific when they first opened. First "authentic" flavored chinese food in Deltona with a variety of dishes. However, in recent years the ownership may or may not have changed, but the cook certainly has. Ordered shrimp toast and it was burned and dripping oil into the bag. Sauces and vegetables are overcoming the main item. Even the fried rice is not good (how do you mess up fried rice). I don't know if they read these reviews but I have been a customer for 21 years and thought they were great. I saw the children contributing to the business as a positive thing but as one comment pointed out, they are rude. This could be a cultural thing but clearly not good for some customers. Unfortunately the cleanliness standards have fallen way down. I will no longer be eating from this restaurant. My wife has complained of upset stomachs two orders in a row and I admittedly was not pleased with the quality of my last few orders. This was not always the case at this restaurant. I moved to Deltona about six years ago and I remember eating at this restaurant once or twice back then and then stopped eating there all of a sudden. I forgot all about why I stopped eating there until recently. I went there a few weeks ago to order the Shrimp Mefung because that is my favorite dish. I have been going to China Star in Orange City for the longest time because they have the best food. I didn't feel like driving so I went to New China Wok. The outside and inside has an ok feel to it but I was very disappointed with the service and the food I mean how can people eat this food? Maybe because it is convenient like I thought. I soon remembered why I stopped going there. I ordered a simple dish that consist of shrimp and white rice noodles how can you mess that up? This dish was over cooked and had a charred or burnt taste to it. I called to complain about the taste and asked for a remake. They gave me the hardest time and seemed offended with attitude but then agreed to remake it for me. I went back to get the remake and needless to say I got attitude as I showed them the issue with the first dish when I went to take the food back and get the remake. The remake was exactly the same charred and burnt. Needless to say I will never go here again. This is my experience and I wanted to share it with others but to me this is not good Chinese Food and you should try other places in the surrounding areas before you make a decision that the food from New China Wok taste the way real good Chinese food should taste. read more

I used to frequent New China Wok. On my last visit I ordered a Kung Pao Chicken combination platter. Over 50% of my platter was broccoli stalks. Not florets, broccoli stalks. There was almost no chicken. I drove back and spoke to a manager about it, but they did not seem to care. I was not asking for anything but an apology, and assurance that this would not happen again. The manager stated that this is how they make kung pao chicken. I explained that I had ordered from there many times before, and had never had this much broccoli stalk. I will never eat there again. OMG! i went there on the July 21..2014.I attempted to order a lunch special..well the girl behind the counter was rude and don't speak English or pretend not to..it was so confusing all she can do is point to a number and look at you to confirm anyway..she still got the order wrong! now i got the food which I waited 30 minutes for with great disappointment..as i said early WRONG ORDER! JEEZ .. the 1/2 fried chicken she gave me tasted like cardboard fried in 2yrs old Oil!!!..
