Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall right off of the I-4 on Saxon Ave, overshadowed by the juggernaut Publix close by, It's very easy to overlook China Fun. They are taking the pandemic seriously by recommending calling-in orders and not allowing customers inside their front doors. I can appreciate that right now, with the variants of Covid on the rise. I'll be honest, when it comes to Chinese take out in Florida I don't expect much at all. But I was pleasantly surprised with China Fun. A few observations from my first (and only) order of lunch special General Tso's chick with pork fried rice and a drink for $6.95. Here goes: The rice was darker than I've had in a long time and darker than I've ever had in Florida. The rice tasted surprisingly good. The chicken chunks were much larger than normal. This place reminds me of Chinese food up north. Although no one really comes close to the Chinese in south shore of Boston this place does remarkably well. There is no fun in China. Horrible inedible food. That black rice you see in pictures on this site is the tasteless ever, I even added a little bit of salt, nothing fixes this. Good food but very concerning that they allow their children to actually work behind the counter and prepping food. I'm talking about a little boy may 7 years old and a little girl maybe 12 years old. Plus the little boy is very rude and nasty! I would think the child labor law department should see this. My wife and I were on a Sunday drive when we came across China Fun. To be honest, the place is your typical plaza chinese joint with 4 tables and a gumball machine in the dining area. The girl up front was nice and repeated our order and the $5.95 lunch was a great deal. As we waited, I noticed the place was a bit dirty and out dated, but I've seen worse. The food came out quickly, plentiful, and hot. I ordered the beef with mixed veggies and my wife had General Tso's chicken. Both came with fried rice and a drink. We'd both expected that yellow fake fried rice, but were pleasantly surprised to find a deep brown, tasty pork fried rice. My beef was a bit tough and I could've done with a bit less sauce, but it was very good and the veggies were super fresh! My wife's chicken was crispy and moist with just the right amount of spice. It was a decent meal at a great price. If we're in the area, we'll be sure to stop in again. read more

Ok I give this place 5 stars for the food, it is absolutely delicious. The eggrolls are HUGE and for a very cheap price, plus they are always cooked-to-order and made fresh that morning. However, just as the gentleman stated in the previous comment you had best just take it to go. The tables have all been carved into. The seats are in ok repair but its a very small place so most people that are waiting for their order are sitting in them anyway. The the interior gets a 0-1. Awful service. But the food was better than other fast food Chinese places I've been. The friend rice didn't have peas and dyed yellow like in other places. However the general tso and orange chicken both tasted very similar. The quality was very good for the value. I would return but I'd make sure I knew exactly what I wanted when I ordered. There happened to be a Fortune Garden near me (by divine providence) where I used to live in SI, NY that was good or better than the 3 stars. Consider me spoiled. Also had Chinese friends and Philippine relative where the home cooking is not American style but great. Everywhere I go in FL look for something similar, hoping never to see orange rice again. Yes, there are better take-out restaurants in Lake Mary but just a little bit expensive and sometimes worth the trip. China Fun does offer the authentic NY style and quality one can miss. Been there many times- Add a bit of garlic to the rice and it's absolutely superb. I don't like lo-mein but my mother gave me part of her portion. Now what was reluctantly eaten is serious craving material. Most of the comments are accurate. It would be redundant to repeat their efforts. The cashier has always been nice to me -maybe she likes polite Hispanics. Even if she's a Chinese version of the Soup Nazi would still go there. Regardless, was glad I found a restaurant close to me. I wanted to try this place out so I ordered at the counter and then waited in-store. Another reviewer complained about the little boy and I have to agree...this kid was a brat. I sat at one of three tables and the little kid came up to me and said "you can't sit here". I basically ignored him as he played some kind of "fantasy airplane" in my personal space and the older girl was sitting there and, bless her heart, she told him to get away from me. That being said, that was the LEAST offensive thing that happened. When they were getting my food up to the register, I saw a girl in the back and she SNEEZED without covering her mouth! We were on a long distance trip and decided to stop by for a quick dinner. We ordered Kungpao chicken and beef broccoli in small size entree. Dish size was decent and filled up both of us. Chicken and beef were tender, with plenty of veggies and were very fresh. This is the typical Chinese takeout but has very decent flavor, dish size, and excellent price ($5 each small entry).
