Unfortunately, I think I'm officially giving up on New City. The last time I came here service wasn't slow, but it wasn't good. They were out of half of what we asked for and served us cold food despite us being the only customers in there. This last visit, my friend and I came at 11:30 on a Saturday. There were maybe 7 tables occupied, so not what anyone would deem busy but it was pretty hectic. There was no one at the hostess stand so we eventually approached the cash register and asked if we could be seated. They cleared a table and we sat down with our menus (that we grabbed ourselves). We waited for about 10 minutes while the tables on either side of us were serviced before finally flagging the gentleman who we'd spoken to at the counter and asking if he was our waiter. He looked around and then shrugged and said "Yes, I guess so." He took our order (we asked for 1 entree, a coffee flight, and waters). We waited for another 20 minutes while watching tables that came in way after us receive coffee flights and multiple entrees-- meanwhile we hadn't even gotten our waters. We finally went up to the counter to ask for water and our flight-- they had given it to another table. 15 minutes longer and we finally got our flight, another 10 min and my entree finally arrived. I ordered eggs Benedict and though it was warm (unlike last time), the English muffin was smashed flat. I thought it was on pita bread. It made cutting into everything a real struggle, but it did taste good. All told, we didn't get out of there until a little after 1pm. Perhaps 30 min of that was spent actively consuming what we'd ordered and the rest was just waiting and trying to get a waiter's attention. This place is in desperate need of good management. They were not overly busy, especially for a Saturday, but you could just see that nothing was organized and there was no understood approach. The staff was dressed in regular clothes without name tags or anything discernible to identify them as staff. It made finding help confusing and awkward. For the prices they charge, your customers should never be left waiting for an hour and a half or fending for themselves to get something as simple as water. read more

We came in for coffee and had a good experience! The staff are very nice and the shop is really cute. I got the seasonal honey lavender latte. It was absolutely delicious! The lavender flavor was well balanced and the coffee was rich. They do charge $1 for plant milk. I ordered my friend's coffee with oat milk and they made and upcharged all our coffees with oat milk which was an expensive mistake. I decided not to make an issue of it. Came here for the coffee flight and breakfast and everything was delicious. I'm not a big coffee drinker but I have recently found that I love lattes. So the coquito latte and peppermint latte were my favorite on the flight by far. The red velvet flavor just tasted like black coffee and I didn't dislike the cider flavor but it wasn't my favorite. The flight was beautifully presented and a great way to try new flavors and share with friends. We got the chocolate chocolate chip muffin, a spinach pastry, and the chorizo breakfast burrito. Everything was so yummy and I love that they warm the pastry for you. The team seemed like they are still learning how to master their serving skills because there were multiple occasions when a worker walked to the wrong table and i overheard them saying they had no idea where one plate went. This is odd since they give you a table number after you order but maybe they were new. The restaurant is small but has seating both indoors and outdoors and is located directly across the street from a gazebo and grassy area so my friends and I took our boys there to run around while we enjoyed our coffee. read more

New City Coffee is a quaint little Cafe' in Lake Mary with unique products. People come for the seasonal flights, which are Insta-worthy, but I love that I can con get consistently great, custom coffee (I love a coconut mocha) whenever I go. Their brunch options are really flavorful and the service is spectacular. Their brunch baristas are friendly and make your order customized with your special requests. If you go on a Saturday you also get to enjoy the local Farmer's Market across from the Cafe. New City just opened a Bistro next door and the food is all from that Bistro chef, and it is so tasty and flavorful. I highly recommend New City for a coffee or mimosa flight. Tried New City Coffee for the first time and was instantly hooked! The cold brew with cinnamon cold foam was delish -- so much so that I came back two days in a row just for that. I also tried the spinach pastry and it was amazing -- flaky, flavorful, and super satisfying. The vibe is super cute, especially the coffee bags hanging from the ceiling, and their pastry case looked seriously tempting. They had a seasonal iced coffee flight that looked incredible... definitely coming back to try that next time! read more

The temptation is to try this place when you are at the farmers market in Lake Mary. Do not fall to temptation! The service is abysmal. I don't know why - they seem to have sufficient staff. I am now here over one hour waiting for a sandwich and a cup of coffee. Don't care how good it is sandwich is. It cost me $18 the coffee, six dollars. For the money I would expect better service. New City Cafe just recently expanded and took over the space next door creating New City Bistro. With the expansion came a bigger menu selection. I have enjoyed their lattes here for quite a while. The coffee beans are so smooth tasting that I don't need any added sweeteners or syrups. Apparently, I went for breakfast their first weekend that they had opened the bistro side of the cafe. They were short staffed and it showed due to the slow service and long wait times for both drinks and food. That being said though service here even for drinks previously was slow. If you try out this place make sure to budget plenty of time. I had their Caprese avocado toast (sourdough bread with smashed avocado, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella cheese balls and balsamic dressing) which previously you would receive two pieces but now you only get one piece of toast. This was disappointing and I was still hungry afterwards. I believe the pricing was around the same as before but you receive 50% less food. Their coffee is so good that I will give them another chance but I might order in advance for pick up. read more

Recently visited New City Coffee and it was such a treat. Pun intended. I ordered their seasonal iced coffee flight, their gingerbread coffee special and their avocado toast. The seasonal iced coffees were amazing. Especially the coquito latte which was my personal favorite. Their gingerbread coffee came in this super cool keepable glass cup. Their food however is what kept it from 5 stars. Avocado on toast was bland and had no seasonings, add-ons, anything. Was bummed by that but honestly, coffee is their staple and they hit it out of the park. Would definitely recommend for drinks. Such a nice coffee shop inside the Medical Center lobby. Lots of comfortable seats with charging stations the coffee is delicious offering Cold Brew, Lattes, Cappuccinos and hot teas. This place is crazy, and unfortunately not is a good way. It used to be a cute little coffee shop that had specialty coffee flights and other drinks. Now since they went viral on social media expect to wait in line for 45 mins+ only to find out once I get to order that they ran out of all their coffee syrups. They announced there were no more coffee flights (nbd I wanted just a pumpkin latte) but you seriously ran out of all coffee flavorings in a single day? It wasn't even 10am yet on a Saturday. I'm all for small businesses growing but the chaos that I walked in on last Saturday the poor employees look short staffed and stressed, the line filling the entire small cafe so people trying to dine have a bunch of butts in their faces and employees couldn't move around. I ordered an iced matcha latte and this was milk and liquid sugar with a dash of matcha and then waited for over 30 minutes for one omelette which I ordered to go and to find a server walking around with it on asking tables if they ordered its. Got the omelette with ham,cheese, bell peppers, and spinach and it was one of the greatest omelettes I've ever had. Not to mention service was great even with it being so busy. The Flight coffee tasting was a super fun experience and I can't wait for the flavors to change! Will definitely return here in the future, the Choco Banana coffee was a huge hit! They were out of bread they told us to make several breakfast options. While we waited over 30 minutes for a coffee flight and our breakfast we saw people coming in after us getting avacado toast and French toast which we had tried to order. I've been here before. I like the look and creativity of the coffee flights which is why I go. The taste itself is average but I'm willing to pay because of the overall experience. When I was there recently, however, the store was busy. There was a folding sign stating long wait times and it was leaning against an inside wall. I'm not sure why that wasn't posted outside to alert people. However after about a 25 minute wait to order I ordered the coffee flight. I was told it would be a 30 minute wait for it. While I wasn't thrilled about the wait I appreciated being told what to expect. Then when I went to order a sandwich I was told they were out of bread. That would have been nice to put on a sign before you got to the register because there was plenty of time to look and decide on something else. At the time of ordering made it a stressful experience. Then when we got our drinks they were not as they were advertised. When I asked why they looked different they said they do that when they're busy and that I would start to notice fancier ones being brought it because they were catching up. Charging the same $17 doesn't seem right at all. I've been happy with previous visits here but this one was incredibly disappointing.
