Darrell, the dental assistant was the best! He's efficient, proactive, helpful and friendly. I give Darrell 5 STARS! The dental hygienist was grumpy, unhelpful, uncommunicative, lazy and inefficient. I had to ask the dentist to have her polish my teeth and finish her job! I give her 1 STAR. The dentist is kind, but very slow. Expect to be there a very long time. I've been to quite a few dentists over the decades, and this was the slowest experience I've ever had. I give her 3 STARS. I had an issue with sensitivity on a tooth and she said there's nothing we can do. I just have to keep it clean. I keep up on my hygiene a lot! Brush, floss, water pick ... This is not the issue. :/ I don't have the time or patience to find out whether the actual dental work would be good or not. Too bad, because I'd really like to have Darrell as my regular dental assistant. He's the one bright spot in the office. Overall experience 3 STARS read more

So yeah I dislike all dentist!!! But I have finally found a dentist I feel comfortable with. They are patient, gentle and they don't push me to get work done all at once. I found them by googling dentist near me. My husband had cancer and needed his teeth pulled before starting chemo and they jumped right on it and got him ready. I came here on a Emergency Root Canal, the staff acted fast to take the pain away really fast they numb me fast and got the problem fix. This dentist practice is awful and unprofessional. They do not seem to understand that when a patient cannot afford a particular procedure that is not covered by their dental insurance, they just cannot. They give you dirty looks when you refuse what they say "needs" to be done because of financial difficulties and if you try to disagree or even compromise for that matter, they try to rush you out as soon as possible. They don't even let you explain the situation to them. They just assume that a client is doing something wrong without even asking. It is a very accusatory environment if you do not agree to anything they say. They even charge clients with things they do not even do. I had to go down there twice because they were charging my husband for a root canal AND cavity filling that didn't even happen. My neighbors who go to this dentist as well also have had the same experience where they had to go down to the office over things they didn't do and charged. My recent experience with them the last straw. I was going to make an another appointment for the upcoming week and I was informed that not only were they going to fill in cavities, they were also going to do extractions and other fillings on teeth that didn't even need them. They also tried to push the white porcelain fillings when they knew my insurance wouldn't cover it and even after I told them that silver fillings were fine. When I mentioned that I was not told about all these other "needed" procedures, Dr. Grace Rivera came to the desk, didn't even try to explain to me why I need two extra extractions and two extra fillings, said I just needed to make an appointment and walked away laughing (for what I haven't a clue, all I know it was a rude). I didn't get the information I needed. They also treat my mother badly because she doesn't speak English very well and because of this, they always try to push root canals and this or that on her. They didn't even finish her cleaning and left leftover toothpaste between her teeth because they didn't rinse her out properly. The Dr and dental assistants are very easily distracted. The only person out of the whole practice I feel comfortable talking to and being attended to by is the assistant that takes my x-rays before my cleanings. I have been with New City Dental for three years and my experience grew worse with each visit and am looking for another dental office where they treat their clients with respect and are professionally. Doctors and assistants that will actually LISTEN to a patient's problem and their point of view and at least TRY to make a compromise. An office that especially doesnt try to charge for unnecessary procedures and charged for procedures that weren't done. I had a much better experience at Diablo Valley College's Dental Office with their student dentists. I recommend another dentist office because even if your first visit here is a good experience, it will only become much worse the longer you stay. read more

These people are fuckin liars and crooks!! They are out to get your money and that is it! My first time I knew they were liars was when they supposedly had to get an authorization from my dental insurance for Invisalign , after 3 weeks they claimed it had been approved. Come to find out it wasn't covered under my insurance although I was under 26 it was only for dependents on the coverage not for me as a policy holder. Fast forward to their recommendation to get veneers I was told my insurance would not cover cosmetic services which I was already aware, they advise the doctor would allow me to use the discount as if it was covered by my insurance . I was given a PRINT OUT OF THE PRICE And of course I arrive at my appointment and it's a different story. They are now saying the wrong price was quoted and they can only give a $500 discount. Wow the integrity of the people here is non existent . They had obviously already planned to play dumb about the initial amount quoted . This place needs to be reported to the better business bureau and will be ! read more

Kudos to Dr. Rivera and her associates for always doing a great job on all my dental care, just recently on my dental crown. My family are doing all our dental care at this clinic. Dr. Rivera and her sssociates are very accommodating and always with a smile on their face. They always explains what is covered and not covered by our insurance. They always informed us the procedure before doing the work and frequently asking if you're ok, which is an assurance that they really care about their patients. read more

I've been going to Dr.Rivera since I was a little girl. I have never had any issues with the dental work I've received she even does all the cleanings herself not like other offices she is very gentle handed. I have kept up and followed her oral hygiene instructions so I have not needed any major work again THANKS to her for taking the time in explaining and making sure I understand the importance in keeping a healthy mouth.
