Pretty easy to find through my insurance company I was able to schedule a dental exam pretty easily with hours early on the weekends and late during the week which is great for those that are working business hours. The hygienist was polite educating me on good oral hygiene. The dentist also took concern toward something on my tongue, took photos and wanted to monitor it, which is more that what I can say about my last dentist. That extra attention to detail is appreciated. I also had a night guard molded through the same provider. Again pretty easy to get an exam early in the morning and the follow up was pretty quick as well. Again from the notes from the last dentist, they followed up with monitoring my tongue which I appreciated again. All in all was pretty satisfied with the service I received. I will say two things, didn't get my flossing with my cleaning but then again I guess I have to do that myself and did hear one of the receptionist speaking on the phone very rudely to a provider or a customer or something. After initial visit consultation and x-rays they talked me into getting their insurance which would take care of future cleanings and dental work which they said they would. I went in for a cleaning for my second visit and that went okay. Then I received a text from them that they could not take on any more new patients. Unbelievable after I paid for the insurance on the work that was supposed to be done. You would think they would have the courtesy to reimburse me on a partial payment for my insurance but the crickets are still chirping. I went to Day Hill dental up the street and they took me in within 2 days versus waiting over a month. Then scheduled me in 4 days later to get crown work done. Unlike New England dental who just took my money and ran. Do not go to them. If you're in Windsor go to Day Hill dental. Now they're professionals unlike the scam artists at New England dental. So many conflicting feelings about this place. I've been coming here since I was I was in high school. They know me, know my teeth, and have great hours (early mornings, later hours, and open on Saturdays). Their dental hygienists are usually very nice and my dentist has forgotten about the time I accidentally bit him when he was trying to take dental impressions. But, unfortunately, that's where the nice things end. No matter how early or on time I am, I am always left waiting to be seen by a dental hygienist or waiting for them to return to my room after being seated in the chair (wait time I usually experience is about 20-30 minutes, no matter what time I arrive). On one occasion, I arrived for two fillings, which of course didn't start on time. Towards the second half of the appointment, Dentist realizes that he's running out of time (before another appointment?) and rushes to complete the second filling, in half the time that it took to do first one. So either he did a rush job on my second tooth or I could have been out of there sooner... And their scheduling... With the exception of my 6 month appointments, every other scheduling experience is hit or miss. We agree on a date/time - they call and tell me that an earlier date/time is available - I call back for that earlier slot - they call back later and tell me that actually the slot is not available - I end up with my original date/time. Billing - on a couple occasions, I've been told that I owed an additional fee, which I was not aware of, or that they overcharged me last time, so that I don't owe as much this time. Not satisfied with the orthodontist work correction, very unhappy with the orthodontist work. For about two years, I wore the traditional metal dental braces on my lower teeth. Constantly I explained there were two teeth that were not realigning. She ignored my concerns removed the braces and within a few weeks my teeth are out of alignment. Time and thousands of dollars wasted on orthodontist work in this place. Subsequent visits to specialist outside of New England Dental reveal a crown was cracked and likely due to bad orthodontist work. I need about $3 thousand dollars to correct New England Dental Center's poor orthodontist work . Stay away. My old dentist sold his business to this group. Generally the service is pretty good. The hygienist is very good and the dentists who follow up at the end seem competent. My issue is with their billing. I had an additional procedure done and before doing so I asked them for the price. They told me that with my insurance it would be $50. A week later after they completed the work they charged me $70. Now, two weeks later I received a bill for an additional $60. When I called to ask why I was being billed they said that they only estimate the cost of the procedure but don't actually call the insurance company. Apparently my insurance didn't cover what they hoped so I got an additional bill. Here my issue, if they only estimate the cost then why was I given one price when making the decision whether to get the work done and then another after it was done? Why didn't they call the insurance company when I asked for cost? At least they could have told me that it was only a quote. This feels dishonest. It's like they are trying to "up-sell" me on work with the promise of a lower cost and then stick me with the full, real cost after the work is done. I'm going to find a new dentist. read more

We have been coming here for many years. My 16 year old needed wisdom teeth removed. The front desk convinced me he did not need narcotics based on x-rays that supposedly showed they were not impacted. I questioned this and the dentist that took the x-rays also said narcotics not needed. So on the day of procedure, we opt for no narcotics. The person doing the procedure did not even look at the signed release form and gave propofol without our knowledge or permission. Office manager claimed the person doesn't work for them so not their fault???? He was extremely unreasonable and after leaving many messages for the owner to call us, he never did. read more

"Dirty Dental Center" I came here a little over a year and a half ago in search of a new dentist that was closer to my new residence. I chose to come here based on their relatively convenient location and good hours. My first impression was not that great. Their office is in a very outdated plaza and I wasn't even sure I was in the right place. Unfortunately I was. The lobby was horribly dim and outdated, never mind the musty old carpet smell. However I do not judge books by their cover and was still optimistic. I must say the the hygienist did a nice job without being rough. The dentist was nice enough and spent a fair amount of time with me. What really stunned me- and is the cause of my refusal to return- was how utterly filthy the inside of the office is. I am a professional in healthcare and notice these things. It's more than the dirty old carpet- their actual equipment was filthy. Alongside the chair you sit in- all the hoses that supply the suction and irrigation and power for the tools- was so caked with an old thick layer of dust it was disgusting. All the hoses. There was a dirty old box in the window well with yucky water stains all over it. The ceiling has water stains on it. You can still see this dirty box in that window as you drive by their office on I-91. Now, this makes me wonder- if the things they LET YOU SEE- those things in plain sight- are so filthy- than how much can they possibly care about the cleanliness of the things you cannot see?? How they clean their equipment? How well they wash the setups between patients?? The overall lack of meticulousness in the visible things leads me to doubt that they somehow manage to magically do a better job on the less visible, but yet equally or more important things pertaining to keeping their office and equipment clean. C'mon... You're sticking stuff in my mouth- I would like to have a better feeling about your cleaning practices. I did not make a follow up appointment, obviously. However, they kept pestering me with multiple phone calls every 6 months asking me to make another appointment. I finally had to call them back just to tell then to stop!! I heard they were planning a renovation. I call that "slapping lipstick on a pig". You can doll it up as much as you'd like, but underneath all that, a practice with poor cleaning habits remains. I would bet the office is filthy again within a few years. I transferred to Dr. Gordon in East Granby from a referral from a relative. I really liked this practice. It was clean, the staff was nice, the hygienist was wonderful. My whole family went there. However, we were just notified that as of immediately, he was merging his practice with New England Dental, and all of our appointments will be there from now on. I know this is going to be a long post but I cannot possibly say enough GREAT things about this place!!!! I was a little hesitant at first because of some of the reviews I had seen but I am so glad I decided to go anyways!!! Let me start by saying that I am EXTREMELY Dental-Phobic. I had been putting off going for years because of my fears. Immediately when I called, I spoke to a very pleasant lady & I explained my situation. She wanted to get me started by scheduling me for a cleaning & x-rays. Knowing about my fears now, she advised putting me with Sue the Hygienist. She said Sue is great with new patients & patients with fears so I felt comfortable knowing I was going to see someone who understood. At the same time I made my appointment, I also made one for my fiancé who also had not been to the dentist in years. He has great teeth & takes care of them well, so I guess he just never thought about going lol. I go in for the day of my cleaning & x-rays. Sue greets me at the door, pleasantly introduced herself & explained a little about what we were going to do. She was WONDERFUL!!!! I was basically at the start of periodontal disease, however, I caught it at a pretty good time so I should be able to stop it. I went that day & purchased the Sonicare FlexCare toothbrush as well as the AirFloss as she recommended. OMG I LOVE these things!!!! I use them both religiously & my teeth feel amazing! I couldn't wait to tell Sue the next time I saw her lol. It was during that visit that we determined what work needed to be done, how we would proceed & what all the work would cost. In my head, I was thinking my dental work would be approximately $20k. Once I had my cleaning, I was brought over to Sarah's office (the Assistant Director) who handles all the financial stuff including in-house payment plans (which was one of the main reasons I chose them to begin with). My Fiancé & I LOVE Sarah!!! Not only is she the sweetest person ever, but she makes payment arrangements & planning your care easy. She is very knowledgeable in dealing with insurances so she makes sure to schedule you so you get the most covered as possible. The estimate Sarah gave me came out to around $6500.00 total. I almost fell over..... I had been honestly picturing a $20k bill in my head. Believe me, I am certainly not thrilled about having to spend $6500, but Insurance will cover most of it & I'm sure you'll agree it's better than $20k! My next visit was to have Part 1 of a 2-part procedure called Scaling & Root Planning. I think my eyeballs rolled into the back of my head when Sue told me I needed that. I opted for Nitrous to be used during this visit. Nitrous Oxide is a bargain here. I'm not kidding. Most places charge around $175 for the first 15 mins & then $75 for every 15 mins after that. This places charges you $105.00 whether you have it for 5 mins or 5 hours! I am so thankful I had Nitrous for this visit!!!! This was the WORST procedure I have ever had done!!! It was long, painful & I was in tears the second I got back to the car. So of course now I am panicking about having to go back for the 2nd half of my mouth! A couple of nights before my next procedure, I was very anxious. Sarah, the Assistant Director & I became friends on Facebook after I started going there. I reached out to her at around 8 pm & she answered me right back. At 8:00 at night, while at home with her family, she took the time to talk to me because I was scared. The next day, she had one of the Dentists, Dr. Furman, give me a prescription for an anxiety pill for the day of the procedure. Dr. Furman isn't even the dentist I see & yet he was kind enough to provide me with what I needed. Thank God he gave me that because I was able to get through it with ease (Valium + Nitrous= No Problem). He also came in that day to administer the Novocaine & was really able to do it painlessly. I also have to give a shout out to Dr. Rosenburg who has worked on my teeth now & she is fantastic. Last but not least, I want to mention Dr. Rosenlicht, the surgeon who just removed 2 bottom wisdom teeth. He had them out in 5 minutes & I didn't even get knocked out!!! This time Dr. Furman gave me Xanax & of course I opted for the Nitrous since I would have a panic attack if I didn't. I really hope that you find this review helpful. Update! This place has changed since last Spring! I used to love coming here. The dentists listened, did amazing work and cared enough to help schedule easy financing options. I referred friends and family. The staff used to be approachable and on point. My last experience became a deal-breaker. Both myself and my husband (whom I referred) walked away from our check-ups with a quote for estimated work exceeding $3000! The hygienist was really good but I don't like the new office manager who goes over the schedule, she's pushy and doesn't communicate well with the staff. I don't like the new limited financing options. I don't like the new up-selling techniques, you can tell the staff is uncomfortable doing it. My husband (thought) he needed a crown in his front tooth, and it took three appointments and over a month, mostly due to Dr. Holder's inability to take it seriously. We now question if he even needed the crown at all. The staff insisted my husband pay BEFORE each procedure and tried to charge 30% more than the quote THEY gave US and BEFORE issuing payment to our insurance company. Strike one. Turns out we overpaid NED anyway. I called two weeks later to ask when the reimbursement check would be sent, and was told that I still have dental work to be scheduled - with serious ATTITUDE. Strike two. A week after the crown fiasco, the reminder calls began for scheduling additional dental work, and continued every two weeks. Strike three. read more

The Dr. told me he didn't care about my finances told me I needed 2 crowns done now & that I had 3 more to do in the near future refused to do one crown & not the other had to do two at same time wanted payment today 928.00 for a future appt. My old dentist 6 months ago told me I had a fracture in tooth & to be careful because it could break. They use to have a payment plan but I guess it's not an option anymore. I've been going to New England Dental for quite a few years.I found them after my then dentist runed my front teeth. Then wouldn't fix the problem. Had an important meeting that night, called NED CTR. and they fixed me up for the meeting. Next day they had me come back and repaired the problem. The doctors and assistants have been very helpful and understanding. Also the Center has also taken my insurance payments with very little out of pocket on my part. Where as the former dentist took all they coluld and more. This is the ABSOLUTE WORST DENTAL CENTER in CT! They are completely unprofessional, unethical, and rude. These people have lied on my medical records, stating they were making an upper denture and a lower partial at the same time. My insurance company/and husband paid for both, but instead of receiving a lower partial...which I was never given a try-in, accepted, or received...they pulled out the teeth ($350 per tooth) and I had to have a very costly surgery for implants (over $10,000)...paid in full and out of pocket! I had to go to a different dentist to have the procedure finished and to have a new upper denture remade. They had the nerve to try to bill me for dental "hardware" (that connected to the implants) they did not provide AND THAT I HAVE PAID IN FULL TO MY NEW DENTIST. They have also taken money out of our checking account and DID NOT CREDIT our bill. THEY ARE STILL SUBMITTING BILLS (that have already been paid in full) FROM 1 AND 2 YEARS AGO TO MY NEW INSURANCE COMPANY...who is investigating them. They are also being investigated by my old insurance company. N.E.D.C owe us quite a large refund, which if we do not receive soon we will be pursuing legal action. If you're looking for a dentist you can trust and rely on...THIS IS NOT THE PLACE! I am writing this review to hopefully spare another potential patient of this Dental Practice the headache(s). I chose New England Dental Center in Windsor knowing it's been around for many many years. Mistake #1. The dental office itself is very dated. Old and ugly carpet greets you as soon as you walk in. I wonder when was the last time they had their carpet cleaned. Next thing you'll notice is the equipment. It's very outdated and old. The X-Ray machines are from the early 1900's and are uncomfortable to use. Nothing about this place has a sterile feel to it, at all. I wanted to use New England Dental Center in Windsor's services because I needed to get an implant done. Mistake#2. I should have known something was shaky with them when after my tooth extraction I had moldings made in order to get a temporary tooth put in while everything healed. I got a call the day before my appointment to pick up my temporary tooth saying that my moldings were LOST and they needed me to come back in and get new moldings made. Although frustrated, I agreed to go in and get new moldings made. Do you know they lost my second set of molding as well? Dr. Matthews himself personally called me apologizing for the mistake and asked if I could once again come in and get a THIRD set of new moldings made. After the 3rd try, I finally got my temporary tooth. I go back for a follow-up appointment, thinking I am meeting with Dr. Matthews again. Only to be greeted by a new dentist who I'd never seen. After asking about Dr. Matthews's whereabouts I was told "Oh, Dr. Matthews is no longer with us. No one told you?"Mistake#3. The last straw was yesterday, when I decided as I walked out of New England Dental Center that I would never step foot back in that place. I had an appointment with the oral surgeon. I waited for TWO and A HALF Hours for them to apologize to me saying they are sorry the surgery can't be done because they don't have the right equipment. After they lied to me initially and told me the correct piece that was needed was not in the Windsor office. But assured me, it was being delivered from their other facility (Hence the wait.) I just can't understand why wouldn't someone ensure the correct tools were in-stock prior to them having their patient come in prepared for oral surgery? Not wait until the minute of the appointment and start scrambling to find things. New England Dental Center will never waste my time again. It's a shame because the lady who does the teeth cleaning is a doll. She's the best thing they have going for them there. They really need to shape up, or close its doors because this is no way to do business. Too many mistakes. Too many incompetency's. I DO NOT recommend New England Dental Center in Windsor, CT. I went to these dentists for a couple of years without major complaint. Everyone is very friendly and since I don't have insurance they were willing to discount their work a bit. Recently, however, the senior dentist there took a cursory look at my teeth after I'd had a cleaning and told me one tooth was cracked and should be replaced with a crown before bacteria could get in and cause infection, and said another tooth had a hair fracture that they should keep an eye on. I did not feel good about what he said, because I felt the technician would have said something if there was such an obvious crack in my tooth. I decided to travel quite a distance to see my former dentist (who I left when I moved away) and asked her to take a look and also to take x-rays. She checked everything very carefully and told me there were no cracks, either visible or on the x-rays; everything was fine.
