I was pleased with my haircut but Tito attempted to rip me off when I paid him. I placed a fifty dollar bill on the counter which he promptly put in his pocket then claimed I hadn't paid him. I told him it was in his pants pocket, and I saw him place it there. When he reached in his pocket and withdrew it he said that was from his last customer. Bad news for him. I knew that was the bill I had just given him as it matched the three other rare UNCIRULATED fifty-dollar bills I had in my pocket. The bill itself is worth between $70 and $200 as it is an old uncirculated bill. I suggested he call his previous client to ask him how he came by an Uncirculated bill that may have been purchased on eBay. He declined as the chances of his last client offering him an uncirculated $50 bill identical to the three others in my possession are one in a few million. This is my shop. I go to a few other places but if I can get a same day appt I go to New Era. What makes New Era better than your average men's barber shop? For starters they care. You don't feel rushed in and rushed out of a barber chair. 2nd, the appeal of a fun loving barber shop is hard to ignore. New Era is one of those community barber shops where people hang out, and swap stories. There is always at least one person calling out others, with ribbing going on and cheap shots mandatory. I'm not the typical client who is attracted to New Era, but I sure am an appreciative one. Being a more "mature man" [meaning, I could qualify for their senior discount and get my hair cut for $7 before noon, but I don't], but being older than the rest of the guys has never caused me to feel uncomfortable. I first discovered New Era a few years ago with my godson went there when he was in the area from NYC, and he would hit me up to pay for his cuts, and I would sit around watching and listening to everyone get cut and talking some sort of code language which sounded something like English, with a lot of street talk tossed in for good measure. I have no problem with that, nor the "action" films which are sometimes being shown on the humongous flat screen TV on the back wall. I've had my hair cut by Johnny, or Johnny Clippas' as he is sometimes referred to. What makes this sort of interesting, is that I've watched Johnny grow up for the last 11 years, cause he lives around the corner from me with his 9 other brothers (yeah, n i n e). Most importantly, he is a real talented haircutter, decent, humble, respectful young man, and I've trusted my hair to him, which says a lot, considering I used the same cutter/stylist for the last 11 years (and knew him from NY back in the 80's), and needed to switch it up, and move away from that East Boca salon where most of the patrons are women who never stop talking, no, they were shouting, as they are sitting and having their hair styled and cut and blown and blown and blown. Now, I'm a NEW ERA guy, and loving it. Expect to wait, awhile, during peak times, especially the weekend. You can make an appointment, speak to Johnny about how to do that. Reasonably priced -$20; friendly barbers; open on Sundays. I got a fantastic haircut by Steph on a Sunday no less. The only reason I have given it four stars is because it is cash only. Nonetheless, the do have an on site ATM with a $3.00 surcharge which is reasonable. In observing the three barbers that were present on this particular Sunday every single one of them was very skilled on all types of hair. Will be returning without a doubt. read more

I used to go to Nat. I just started a new job in Miami and I've had no time to make it in. I scheduled an appointment way in advance and as usual when I'm concerned I might be late I advise her I might be a couple minutes behind. I drive an hour to get to her. She knows this. Out of nowhere a couple minutes before I arrived she told me she decided she was going to start charging late fees for clients. It's one thing to let me know that prior it's another thing to let me know that 5 minutes before I arrive. She blamed it on a tight schedule. I ended up having to deal with a separate barber who was great, but in the middle of it because I didn't volunteer to pay a late fee she had a gap and ended up taking a walk in that made her even later for her next appointment than i would have. I was in and out before her actual appointment ever made it in the door. I've gone out of my way to write positive reviews about this girl on every reputation platform out there since day 1. I've recommended her to everyone I meet in need of services. I always tip 20%. I post photos after every cut and tag her. She said she had to charge for waisted time. Well if that's the case where's my discount for every time I've arrived here on time early or late and she's still been working on clients. This girl takes 2 hours to cut hair. It's not my fault shes not fast enough to handle a larger client base. And if I'm gonna have to sit and wait while she cuts individual hairs for 10 minutes I shouldn't be charged when she has to wait 10 minutes. She's talented but so unbelievably unprofessional and her hands wreak of skunk weed. She will gladly screw you over on time and money any day. I wish I could give zero stars for this experience. Best barber shop from my experience on Long Island NY to south Florida. First of all. First barber shop I've been to that when I walk in, I am not feeling like I don't belong there, being grilled by all of the barbers and no hi or anything. This place has a lot of quality barbers. And they all make you feel welcome.....which in my opinion the making the "new" customer feel welcome at the barber shop has been lost. They do a amazing job with making sure you feel welcomed.
