Alfredo and his team did a great job installing these pavers in our backyard. The project turned out better than i expected. Their work was clean and professional and delivered on time. Their quote was also very competitive. Thank you Alfredo and team.

Three different sized top pieces. Cuts that were made. First attempt at retaining wall.

We were hopeful but at the end fully regret going with Alfredo for many reasons!! We had cement work and a retaining wall built and BOTH went wrong. We also had grass added to our existing grass and it is BAD. The demo was the only part that went well BUT took more time than we were told, there was literally one guy doing the demo. They never had the right equipment because it "went missing" or "broke" or "In another truck." At first Alfredo was very attentive and went along with our design and what we thought would work while suggesting minor things like color, lights, and brick for wall. At the end everything that went wrong was our fault and he took no accountability for his work. He says he did and how he put so much of his own money but alllll of it was to correct work his guys did wrong. Here is how it went... First, the one week project took months and we JUST got a corner of the cement fixed 8months later. While the grass he put in is dead, STILL. My husband and I believe this was do to them leaving all their things on the new grass for days and weeks at a time. Let's first talk about the project: Every day he had his "crew" come and every day they were HOURS late (Outside of arrival window). We would have to text and call him. No care for anyone else's time or schedule. He consistently had us waiting 2plus hours after his window of time for anyone to show up! He would say things to us like, "Just leave the gate unlocked," "I have no control," "The guys are lying to me." SO unprofessional. This went on for weeks. To make things even worse... most days there was ONE guy! Then an hour or two before sunset he would send 3-4 more guys to rush through what he said would be done. But again the one week project took 3 weeks then stopped for two weeks then corrected concrete work happened and then again with a corner and we at the end got left with dead grass. Which he says he bought but never called or texted us without us having to reach out to him. He would respond with things like, "Ohh shoot, totally forgot to update you." The last message was started with, " Hey, what is the issue.." No way I want someone like that in my home! The wall was a DISASTER!!! It was so uneven and just a MESS. He was so fast to blame the rocks that we picked which HE gave us to pick from but at the end of the day we could see that his people had no idea what they were doing. The wall had glue everywhere, it was leaning forward, it was uneven. It was SO bad he got a different set of guys to tear half of it down and redo it ! After us telling him time and time again that it was not acceptable work. It was bad! They also did lighting which is SO uneven throughout. I don't do construction but when putting lights in I would have measured the wall, counted my lights and put them at even spots apart.. NOpE not these guys. The cuts on the top of the retaining wall were SO bad and different sizes! At the end they redid a whole section that had to be redesigned because we were not okay with it. And he did it, no extra cost. CONCRETE... well after being told a million times "concrete cracks" yup. BUT the concrete these guys poured cracked LITERALLY next day! And got worse and worse. Maybe pouring on a day that was 90 degrees wasn't a good idea (Which we knew) but they still did. It was SO bad they had to come back three weeks later, demo huge sections and pour again! And still it's still horrible with huge cracks everywhere. Here we are 9months later and the color is all off. White spots everywhere !!!! I am still getting cement off our windows and the sides of our house. There is just so much bad. This review could be pages long with just a number of things that were unprofessional and not professional work. DO NOT give this company thousands of dollars of your hard earned money. Overall: They did the work that they were contracted to do, it was not to our liking, Alfredo attempted to fix some of it, there was no consideration of our time, a lot of it was thrown back on us, we wish we would have gone with someone else.

Alfredo and his crew transformed our backyard! I reached out to Alfredo through Yelp after a friend referred him and I'm glad I did. Alfredo was responsive, reliable and easy to work with. His team installed artificial turf and a retaining wall with lighting. Alfredo helped recommend the lighting and I can even integrate the lighting with my home automation, which is a nice plus! With any project, we ran into some hiccups but Alfredo was quick to act and resolved our issues. Would highly recommend New Era Design if you are looking to install turf, hardscaping or outdoor lighting!

Alfredo goes above and beyond to meet your needs. He is very prompt in follow ups and available anytime. He makes sure everything works out for our satisfaction. I am very happy to work with him. He has a great crew who know what they are doing. Very clean and professional work. I would definitely hire him again. Thank you Alfredo for making our dream come true!!

We wanted to replace our front lawn with something different than fake grass so we searched out and found New Era Design. They came out and worked with us to provide a great quote. Then they got us on their schedule and arrived when they said they would. They had a team of workers who worked hard to get the job done which I appreciated. My neighbors have been stopping by telling us how great it looks, the ultimate compliment. New Era Design did a great job replacing our grass

Front yard install of 40/60 lawn mix.
    Rogelio B.

Alfredo was the VERY first in-person consultant via Yelp.com to arrive. I knew right away that he would be the one to install our new lawns. After a hit-and-run damage to our front yard chain link fence on Saturday, June 10, 2023; I had NO choice but to have both our front AND back lawns replaced! He visited a few more times to make sure we're on board with our decisions. And after a couple of days or so of hard work and promptness by his team of dedicated workers, our request was fulfilled! We loved our new lawns AND front yard sprinklers were installed, too! The value for this landscape project was worth the upgrade from our OLD Kentucky Blue grass of over twenty years to the new 40/60 lawn mix. My review here is long over-due and I wanted to share today's photos of our lawns and its durability; since we last met back in July 2023. Thanks, New Era Design!

Alfredo and his team did a great job, always communicated quickly and efficiently. The end result is stunning, we've received many compliments and requests for their contact info, so apparently others are liking it too!

Alfredo and his team has done a fantastic job with our front and backyard! We had some concrete done in our driveway and turf lawn in front and backyard. Backyard also included pavers, retaining wall, installation of gazebo and a section of new fence along with two new side doors. Pavers and turf lawn choices were excellent. They were easy to work with from start to finish. Always super professional, efficient and clearly passionate about their work. They really transformed our front and backyard in a great value. My husband and I are extremely pleased with the entire process of working with New Era Design and would definitely contact them again for future work.

I did my backyard with new era design, as I described in my last review. It's time for my front yard project, and it's easy for me to choose new era again. Alfredo is still top notch in his communication. The project was done within a week with great quality. I appreciate the crew willing to accommodate my various requests. I'm super happy with the end result, all done with a fair price.

After seeing the great work Alfredo and his team did on my brother's front yard, I knew I wanted to hire them to do my backyard. I am so happy with the work they did and how quickly it was done. i am especially pleased that since I already had a gray cement slab, I asked Alfredo if they could incorporate some gray in the design of the pavers so it all ties in and it came out amazing. Really happy with my new backyard and honestly they are very competitive in their pricing.

Alfredo and his team did a excellent job communication laying down the pavers excavating and moving those big 80 ton boulders

Judy's landscape design--faithful to but not confined by my 80-year-old home's Cape Cod architectural style--delivered an enormous breath of fresh air to the property as well as reducing water consumption needs. Two impressive examples of Judy's magic were her (1) locating and reserving for me a raft of huge hard-to-find camellias and (2) artfully pruning and trimming two sizable flowering trees, contributing to the transformation of the front yard. The whole process took many months, as we designed and planted each yard in turn. They also replaced all of our sprinklers with drip system that reduced our water bill significantly. Huge thanks to Matt, Danny and the team.

Another very happy customer of South Bay Design and Landscaping…read more We had South Bay out to do a full demolition of the existing "landscaping" from when we bought our house and the installation of an entirely new plan from our landscape designer (check out Dawn Engel- she's great!), which included a patio space, a pergola, driveway extensions, hogwire fence, raised planter beds, and a side gate added to our existing fence. These guys do not mess around. Demolition went insanely quickly, and our property was kept neat and tidy the entire time. We never once saw dirt tracked anywhere by the crew, which we can't say the same for any of the other contractors we've worked with (and we're actually quite happy with some of them!), and which becomes even more insane to think about when you consider the nature of landscaping work. Installation went as smoothly as South Bay possibly could have made it. Any time we ran into the occasional hiccup, as happens with all nontrivial projects, Matt, Danny, and Marcus offered thoughtful suggestions and made sure to confirm exactly what we wanted before proceeding. (We had either or both of Matt and Danny on-site most days of our project, and interacted with Marcus via email.) We were delayed a smidge by some heavy rain, but the crew worked through all but the worst of it (talking "if you step in that mud, you're going to lose a boot" type of rain). Partway through the install, we discovered that the previous landscapers had managed to make the L-shaped pathway leading from our driveway to our front door square with nothing- which wasn't easily noticed until we had the planter beds in and hogwire fence line chalked out. (South Bay had laid those out properly square to the driveway and house, as per our plan.) Matt, Danny, and crew were thankfully able to accommodate our request to fix our pathway up by picking up each segment and pushing the out-of-square part over by 4-6 inches; this added about a week of extra time to our project, mostly due to the fact that not all of the pavers could be reused, and that the pavers had actually been discontinued (!). The guys worked around this by sourcing very similar pavers in a different size, and basically cutting and grinding them to match our existing pavers. Post-install, the only way you'd know there are two different pavers in our pathway is if you'd seen it being taken apart and rebuilt. Plants, irrigation, and lighting all went in straightforwardly after the hardscaping work was finished, and Danny gave us a complete walkthrough of all our new outdoor systems. It's been about a week since our project was completed; the plants are all thriving, and we're still ecstatic about our new yards (and so are our neighbors!). In short: we had a fantastic experience working with South Bay Design and Landscaping for our landscaping project. They take pride in doing a quality job, and it shows in everything from demolition to day-to-day jobsite management to the finished project. If you're looking for landscapers, these are your guys. (Special thanks to Matt and Danny for graciously handling my incessant "are you sure you didn't forget about such-and-such little detail?" questions and never once forgetting about any of the details, and also to Sergio for spending basically an entire Saturday morning troubleshooting what ultimately turned out to be a manufacturing issue with our pergola.)
