Worst service possible the guy was really nice. The people that answered the phones as the sales reps are horrible run away to the hills so just gonna charge you ridiculous there's no plumbing service that charges $100 and then tries to tell you oh no there's no $100 discount for a coupon. We had a clogged sink line. New Era came out and charged us $580.00 and could not fix this. They had to remove and replace pipe (20') and wanted another $1,000.00 for a total of about $1,500.00. I originally agreed then changed my mind because I was being ripped off. We told them to stop but they already cut the pipe. So my total bill was $775.00 and nothing worked. I came home and went to U tube and was shown a backing soda and vinegar fix. I tried that and it cleared the drain. I then put 20' of 2" PVC and 5 fittings and was done in 1 hour with clog gone and pipe installed and saved about $700.00 pr an hour of work and some PVC. I have great respect for the trades as I am in them but to charge $1,000.00 for PVC and1 hr or work is just a plain screwing. BOB G read more

We've had New Era Plumbing into our condo twice to do some work. First time they installed a garbage disposal and this time to inspect the plumbing in our unit. This particular time was a bit stressful for us because there was a leak and we needed to isolate where it was coming from and what to do to fix it. Chharlie was right on time, professional, pleasant, thorough and incredibly understanding. He was able to locate the problem. He explained everything in terms we were able to understand (instead of talking over our head, which is somewhat common when you don't know anything about a particular subject). The pricing was also reasonable and he was able to give an estimate as well as options on what to do to proceed to fix the issue. He made a tense situation so much easier. New Era Plumbing is our first point of contract for plumbing issues and we highly recommend them. read more

I hate to leave negative review because everyone has to pay their bills but it is a serious issue with this company.. 2 years ago, they charge me 1500 to replace expansion tank,water feeder valve and internal valve (total parts cost 200 dollars).. i had boiler issue where the PSI of the boiler would climb up and after their diagnosis, they wanted to charge me 2000 to replace the 3 items again (500 dollars more than previous time).. they charged me 99 dollars to troubleshoot the problem and then they suggested I should replace my hot water tank and boiler for 30K+. I called another plumber and it was bad water heater which was causing the boiler PSI to go up. I do not think it is fair to do this to folks.. everyone needs to make honest living. I don't want to leave bad review but I have to be honest about my experience with this company. read more

Quickly installed a back flow preventer for future lawn irrigation and while they were here, changed an outdoor spigot that required Ryan to go through a very tiny crawl space to complete. now I will have them for all my plumbing needs moving forward. read more

Called on a Saturday with an emergency. They gave us an 11-2pm appointment the following day (Sunday). I called at 9am on Sunday and they confirmed that the tech was on another call and heading my way right after. Got another call at 10:40 to say they couldn't get a tech to come to my house till Monday morning. Wish I didn't call this company. My furnace would not turn on when putting on the heat. Called New Era. Patrick came out and said I needed a part for $461.00. I said go ahead. He returned with the part and installed it.Furnance still not working. Patrick said I need more parts or he could install a new furnace for $10000.00. These guys were professional and really nice but I should've realized the red flag when they said they could only quote me for the service call over the phone. They could not give me the labor rate per hour which other companies freely gave me. They said they needed to look at the job and then they could tell me. That is the red flag that they are not in the business to repair but they are in the business to sell you a whole new system. I called for an AC repair. They tried to sell me a brand new AC and furnace! Started at $35,000. I wish I checked these reviews first. You can tell the first couple five star reviews are fake on here. Two stars because the guys were really nice, but they are in the business to make money not to repair your problem. read more

Their prices are VERY high! More than double than any other plumber that I have talked to since they came. They put in a valve and cartridge for my shower. The guys that came were nice and polite. But their not responsible for the billing part of the job. When I looked up cost of materials it didn't even come out to $200.00. So I paid over $3000.00. The job should of been around $1000.00. So I think the labor cost is around $450.00 an hour. I would suggest you go elsewhere if you don't want to be ripped off! Big lesson learned!!!! Get another plumber! These guys run a very shady business. We asked them to help us hook up our gas dryer. They told us over the phone that it would cost $59 for the first 15 minutes. Unfortunately we didn't ask what it would cost after that. They showed up and then they told us that it would cost $785 to finish the job after 15 minutes. That is such an unreasonable price for just hooking up a dryer. We had all the parts, there was no need for assembly or anything! Just hook it up! We complained that this was ridiculous and we were not going to use them. They showed us the recording of our phone call and pointed out that they said "59 for the first 15 minutes". Clearly they knew that customers would be upset by their sneaky pricing, and went ahead to prove that they would need to be paid $59 just for showing up. So we paid $59 and told them to get lost. Do not recommend at all, if you do for whatever reason call them, ask for a pricing for the total job. Shameful way to conduct business. read more

If I could give negative reviews I would. Unbelievable. I called to get a quote on a toilet install. The person on the phone said they don't give quotes over the phone and that they have to come in person for no charge estimate. She said there could be something else wrong, that we may not even need a new toilet. Ok, I'll bit. She was able to give me an appointment next day, odd for plumbers, especially in winter in Massachusetts. They come earlier than expected. Nice guys. Came into the bathroom, looked at it, asked me if my kids were flushing things, I said no, this is the master bath so its just my husband and me, and my kids are teens so no. Then he asked me if I flush wet wipes down. I said no. He flushes it, looks at the guts, and says I need a new toilet. Yup, so how much? He said 2000!!! excuse me??? This guy was off his rocker. I said, what is the toilet solid gold? Then the upsell started - oh well, for 40 a month we can do a service contract for your boiler and furnace. I said, we don't have one, we have tankless. He said oh well that will be another 10.00 a month, HUH? They will come out twice a year. Then, if we get the contract we will get a 5% discount on material and a 2% on labor. Hubby said can we get the quote in email? No way. So then he says, um we can get a Kohler or American Standard - top of the line for about 400 - less if we go to Lowes/HD -They said oh well those really aren't the same. Well, sometimes yes, but if the box says I am buying a Kohler - 3999-0 - Highline® Comfort Height® Two-piece elongated 1.28 gpf chair height toilet - it is the same as if I go to HD or Frank Webb - or any other design showroom. I said well can we buy it ourselves and just have you do the install, oh yes 1000 for that. Ya, thanks but no thanks. Motto: if anywhere tells you they won't send you a quote in writing, and if they start talking about discounts if you buy something else, RUN, don't walk away. My ac condenser stopped working suddenly. I called New Era Plumbing and I was charged 99 dollars for estimates. Two guys came and looked around for a short time. They told me that my ac condenser and furnace were old and needed to be replaced and that would set me back for 20,000 - 45,000 dollars. They said that they do financing and I can get rebates from Mass Save. I asked them what was wrong with the ac condenser. They said it could be the fan and that the motor had seized. The worst was that they said that they do not do repairs and I wondered why they took the job since I had clearly indicated I needed repair. Later when they left I decided to replace the capacitor since I had a spare (costs about $35 on Amazon), and the ac condenser started working just like before!!! So these guys never even checked to see what was the problem. They just wanted to sell and sell. read more

We called them due to blocked sewer drain. Told us 99 dollar charge for estimate. I told them I need to onlh snake the pipe and clear the blockage. He told me 626 dollars even when only thing I needed was snake it. I had no choice but kk it as I badly needed service. They took only 30 minutes to snake it. Even with 1 hour of travel time, it could be 300 dollars maximum. Overcharging by 100 percent. My mistake I did not try some one else, but they would have taken 99 dollars just for coming. read more

We called New Era Plumbing to change a faulty faucet in the kitchen sink. They told us it would be a $59 fee to show up. We agreed to that charge. They showed up within 15 minutes time. Which we thought was very good. The technician went to work right away, and said he couldn't get the center nut off, so he said I can cut it off, which took about five minutes. I said OK. So he cut it off with a Sawzall Next, he asked me if we wanted him to put the new faucet on that we had already purchased. I said yes (but he hadn't quoted me a price prior to cutting the old one off) and that's when he gave me an outlandish quote of $650.00 to finish the job. We told him that that is just way too high. I said I can put it on myself and told him I'll pay you for the work you've done so far. So, he quoted me $350.00 for the five minutes worth of work he did to get the nut off. We said that is too much as well. So, he called his boss and he came back with a quote of $250 and that's the lowest I'll go. We agreed to pay it reluctantly. To sum it up, I think their prices are ridiculously high. If I had gotten a quote prior to them cutting it off I would've declined the charge but they didn't pre-quote me. Leaky toilet when flushing. They quoted the $59 fee just to show up and diagnose. They then quoted me $427 to remove the toilet and replace the wax ring and toilet bolts along with an "flange inspection". They also quote me $746 for a new outdoor spigot. The shut off valve was leaking. They also quoted me on a new toilet which I did not request nor need, $918 which included the wax ring, toilet, feed hose, and toilet seat, all at HD would have been $250. I ended up telling them I was all set and paid the $59. I replaced the wax ring and closet bolts myself in less than an hour for a cost of about $12 plus my trip to HD and gas back and forth. I would never use them and suggest that you look elsewhere. A flashy truck, orange boot covers and an app on an iPad don't make them a good company. They prey on the people who don't know better or are too afraid to say no. read more

Asked them to replace a faucet in a condo that I own with a tenant. They charged me $120 to look at the job, but thankfully I was able to apply that to the outrageous charge that I received from them. I was originally given a quote for $7500 to replace the faucet, drai, and shut off valves. I was able to take a cheaper option of $875 to simply replace the faucet that I already purchased. The cost was explained to me as a 'service' charge for them being professional and showing up on time. I will never deal with them again. read more

Made an appt for a service call for my ac it wasn't turning on. I explained everything to the woman who answered the phone, throughly explaining that it was a service call. They didn't show up for the first appt they scheduled me for without a phone call. That should have been a red flag. Then when they did show up for the next scheduled appt, they sent out two salesmen who told me they weren't "parts guys" and that there was nothing they could do to fix my ac. They said my unit was old and then they proceeded to go through all of their packages available starting at $35,000. Once they were done explaining all their packages they tried to steer me away for going through MassSave and then told me they were going to begin their troubleshooting for $500. I said absolutely not, asked them what have they been doing then for the last hour. they didn't have an answer and couldn't even tell me what was wrong with my ac. Sending out two salesmen for a service call is bad business! My brother in law tried changing the Nest thermostat and..... it fixed my ac. They didn't even look at my thermostat. read more

SCAM. I called to ask for pricing over the phone after reading reviews about astronomical prices. They refused, claiming they couldn't quote something before seeing it. All I needed done was a simple install of a Saniflo (basement toilet pump) where I already had purchased the brand new pump myself with all of the hookups ready to go. THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME $3500 TO INSTALL. That is over 3x the cost of the pump itself, which again, I already had with all of the hookups done. After declining their offer, they came down to $1300. Unbelievably expensive. Don't worry, they still made sure to collect $99 dollars "for their evaluation." read more

Awesome service! They replied quickly (and by text), with an opening for the next day (and this not was not an emergency). Impressed, I agreed. $59 for the visit, but this is deducted from the bill if they do any actual work. They took a quick look and gave three different options, in writing, telling us they could start right away. Their most expensive option was on par with what another company had quoted (actually a little better), but New Era also offered two cheaper, less drastic options. We ended up going with the cheapest option, replacing the shower cartridge only, for $570. They started right away and were finished within two hours. The guys were super friendly and kept me in the loop as they made progress. They e-mailed the invoice and pictures. Plumbing in Boston is expensive, no way around it. But I feel good about hiring a company that is prompt, transparent, friendly, and effective. read more

They sent two young men, very nice, but the one who inspected my system told me it was too old to take apart, because he was afraid it wouldn't start working again when he put it back together. Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value The owner is very nice and courteous and tried very hard to please me, but was unable to deliver because he was rarely at the job site and his workers left on their own, and was chaotic. I agreed to have some heat pumps and other work contracted for $45,000 installation and new insulated metal ducting for a high-efficiency system. Problems started first with the outside. The contract said specifically concrete slab, but they tried using plastic base and gravel. Not a good start. Then they started using plastic harmonica ducting but when I saw that I had them remove it, insisting on the contract specs. I did not want vermin eating through and living in warm cozy ducts. So they did change them begrudgingly, but they started to make me feel like I was a problem client. After a while I noticed they were not installing returns, and gave me a hard time, but when I showed them THEIR diagrams showing returns they put those in. At this point it started to get really uncomfortable. Soon, all the insulation in the attic started unraveling and falling off because they used the wrong tape not intended for plastic bubble insulation. I bought some online that was specified for the plastic wrap. They sent someone who was so angry and made me feel threatened in my own home. When I greeted him he walked away, just wanted to get to the job, and did not talk. They were supposed to re-tape and add a damper to adjust the air balance since half the floor was too cold and the other half of the house floor was sweltering hot--probably because of the botched return ducting. He just did a bad quick taping (see pic) and did not add the damper. In the basement, he left a roll of insulation and told me to do it myself (see pic). One of the units was malfunctioning cycling on and off, and said it needed all their replacement parts that I paid extra, but after repeated complaints, they did not believe me until I took a video of the unit cycling every 30 seconds. They brought an outside vendor and it turned out they had charged the compressor 3 or 4 times the recommended amount. For $45,000 I still have to install a damper, reinsulate all this ductwork and the malfunctioned compressor is damaged and has a short life. This is not all of it! The list goes on and on. read more

Called before reading other reviews, unfortunately. I had a leaky kitchen faucet and they came out to see what was wrong/estimate for $99.00. They wanted to replace the entire lines, faucet, sink etc for $4000 because it would be too expensive to repair. I said no way. Then said he had different levels of service, and could do it for $1800. He said it's because his faucets are so expensive, and his have a warranty. And that the ones from hardware stores don't have any. I said all faucets have warranties. He was arguing with me. I know for a fact that Moen has a lifetime warranty.Then, he said that it would cost about $900-800 for the labor and one line replacement if I choose to buy my own faucet. However, he wouldn't give me a written price for the line part and the estimated hours of "labor." Hard for me to believe it would take a professional more than 30 minutes to install a faucet. Also, the line is a simple, inexpensive piece with labor to justify a 900.00 price tag. So, I declined and we paid them the $99. I then went to the hardware store, asked some questions, watched some you tube videos and installed the faucet myself. It cost me $100 bucks for the faucet. My labor was less than an hour. Please be careful...would NEVER recommend. read more
