Dinner tonight was very good and we highly recommend it. Like previous reviews, we thought the salad was super simple and the baked potato was just average, but those are very minor concerns in our opinion. We had the stuffed pork chop with ham and bacon which came with a sweet and very tasty bbq sauce and some melted cheese. We also had a seafood dish that was stuffed haddock, shrimp and scallops. The stuffing we believe was crab and it was amazing. They ask you to make reservations but we walked in without on a Saturday around 6 and there was no problem being seated quickly. All the staff we interacted with were very nice and paid the right amount of attention to us. Prices were very reasonable and what was expected. They do pass on credit card fees to the diner if you choose to pay with plastic, but that feels like it is becoming more common so it was not a surprise. We will definitely return and anticipate another wonderful meal!! read more

Came here for dinner Saturday around 530pm the place was pretty dead which surprised us. The place looked like a bar from the outside but the inside was a little nicer then what we thought it would be by the outside. I ordered the Ny strip medium rare it was cooked correctly but the steak had no seasoning and or flavor and was 21.99, also you got 2 sides i picked a baked potato which was small but fine and a salad which was pathetic some lettuce and 4 huge chunks of tomatoes and 3 cucumbers very disappointing. My wifes meal on the other hand was very good she got the stuffed pork chop which was huge and there gravy was excellent she was sad they did not have mashed potatoes only baked potatoes but she got the soup instead of the salad and there chicken corn chowder was very good. As usual, the food was excellent. I have been eating at Fern Park for many years off and on. My niece was in town and we decided to take her to Fern Park because they have such a diverse menu. Her and I chose from the Octoberfest menu and my Mom ordered stuffed pork chops that could have fed a family of 4. It was a huge portion. We all had large portions and we all agreed it was all delicious. Our service was excellent also. She knew her menu and the specials. She was very attentive. Awesome food with amazing portions! The ambiance is casual and comfortable, totally friendly. The king cut prime rib was cooked perfectly, the stuffed pork chops were good, and the Jenny's Chicken was amazing! The Cordon Bleu Balls were 86'ed, but our server, Sissy, and her awesome sense of humor more than made up for that. The entertainment is superb, and better yet, FREE! Ask for Sissy when you go. Stopped here heading to Williamsport to catch a plane. The best crab cake sandwich I've had. It's served on Texas Toast with fries. The cocktail sauce and tartar sauce were both food and the portion was too much to finish. Service was satisfactory. I waited for a drink refill and the restaurant didn't seem busy but they did seem short staffed. Would definitely visit again. read more

I have been to Fern Park several times, before and after the renovation. Each time I dined there the food has been very good. There were six of us in the group last night and we all had different meals. I had broiled haddock. It was very good and when it came from the kitchen it was hot! I hate when you go to a restaurant and the food is just warm when you finally eat it. Several others said there food was very hot too. Their onion rings were homemade and delicious. We had several different drinks from the bar and they arrived quickly, the Irish Coffee looked delicious. My only complaint was that you can not substitute vegetables for the potatoes offered with the entree. I will definately be back! read more

First time eating at the "new" fern park. Service was good but the meal was very rushed. They do give you decent portions but the quality of the food has really declined, I had the stuffed haddock and it was somewhat tasteless. It had a crab meat stuffing but the texture was so fine and saturated with butter that it looked like cat food. No nice lumps of crab meat or chopped pepper/onion, just a soggy grey blob inside a piece of white fish. My friend had the scallop/shrimp scampi. It had the same water infused scallops they used in our scallop appetizer. These are the cheap "wet" scallops that you can never brown because they have too much water from the saline solution they soak them in. The shrimp were terrible. I am certain they used frozen precooked shrimp because they were very dry, nothing like the taste of fresh cooked raw shrimp. Like I said, there's a good amount of food and the prices aren't bad, but don't expect much in terms of quality from this place. read more

Rural out of the way tavern tucked in the trees. Pretty, quiet setting. Outdoor and indoor seating. The wait staff is good and the food seems to move quickly. The food quality is excellent and the price is fair. I've had seafood and pasta here and both were very good, but if you really want a treat, go on their prime rib night. Great place...if you have a head injury. Upon arriving, I could not tell if the smoke was from the outdoor grill or a loose canister of Zyklon B. The smell does not improve once you are inside. I thought it was stuck to my clothing by just walking through the parking lot. However, it soon became clear that the ventilation system could not keep the stench out. The inside has been remodeled since what, in hindsight, would have been a blessing of a fire. Trust me, eating amongst the burned out remains would have been better. The dining room(s) mixes hokey, down-home knick-knacks with a bastardized form of upscale chic and marvelously fails at both. I do have a few questions for the owners/operators. Honestly, who puts cheap carpet down in a dining room? Even better, why is the dining room (entirely non-smoking) divided into two sections by a wall with three outdoor windows? In addition, why do patrons want to look at vacuums haphazardly shoved in a corner next to your room temperature, vertically stored wine? Furthermore, why would you store chilled wines in the same cooler as ketchup? Why are kitchen towels used to sop up spills/leaks in front of the aforementioned cooler and then left on the floor? As for the food and drink, "disappointing" does not come close to expressing the quality of the food. Frankly, this level of indolence should only be expected from a recently paroled short-order cook at a truck stop. The first dish was a fried oyster sandwich. The contents: a head of shredded lettuce (from a bag), a loaf of soggy buttered bread, and eight overly breaded frozen oysters with the consistency of a greasy rubber band. This gastronomical late-term abortion is served with a small handful (being generous) of sorry chips and a dill pickle spear that could be tied in a knot without breaking. My guest's dish was a plain bacon and swiss burger. The burger was a frozen patty with faux grill marks and charcoal seasoning. The consistency was likened to "shoe leather." Chips and a pickle came with the dish, but fries were ordered separately. Sadly, they were also frozen and served in a cardboard boat that one would normally see at a county fair. Regarding drinks, "overpriced and underserved" is a more than fair estimation. One liquor drink (Tom Collins) was 8$ a fountain drink was nearly 2$. Atmosphere and food aside, the service was bland and undeserving of further comment. In conclusion, a better dining experience can be had by paying a grizzled prostitute 35$ to bite a hole in your cheek and spit fancy feast through it. Enjoy! read more

Have not been here for a long time. Friends and I were in the area and decided to stop by. Was met at the door just as I got in. Taken to my friends table. Waitress took the drink order quickly and served it quickly. Dinner order was taken, question about menu were answered. Appetizer (Onion Soup) served quickly. Soup was very good. Dinner (Sirloin tips w/ pierogies) came out in a reasonable amount of time. Dinner was plentiful and good. No room left for desert. Will return. read more

The meat and potatoes were quite good, but the dressings are bottled, the drinks are weak, there are no vegetables on the menu and the lettuce is prepackaged iceberg. Our second time back since they re-opened after the fire. Once again, they have proven to be my FAVORITE restaurant in the area! It's a 40-minute drive for us to get there, but well worth the drive. We went to the bar first and had drinks. The barmaid was very hospitable and made our drinks just the way we like them. The waitresses were exceptional...great service and very friendly! I had fried oysters, baked potato and a salad. The oysters were the best I've ever had (except for when I had them there prior to the fire!), baked potato was a REAL baked potato and the salad was a SALAD...very nice! Their salad dressings are excellent! Last time we were there, I had one of their specials of the night...salmon with crabmeat and cheese on top. OMG....it was to die for! I like to share my attempt to eat dinner at Fern Park yesterday. My wife and I decided to eat at Fern Park primarily because the weather was nice and we could eat outside. We arrived there around 5:15pm and I was the first one inside the restaurant. I asked for a table on the deck but to my astonishment the owner replied "no.... rain." At the time it was mostly sunny with one dark cloud in the sky and around 80 degrees. The current weather forecast wasn't calling for any chance of rain until 4am the next morning with that being isolated thunderstorms. It seemed to me that the owner just didn't want to bother with opening the deck. Why build the deck if you don't want to use it? That's just lousy customer relations! So we just left and ate somewhere else. Also, the rest of the late afternoon/evening was beautiful with plenty of sunshine and no rain. She(the owner) just lost one good paying customer! PS. It never did rain overnight and I am submitting this in sunshine on my deck. read more

arrived at 5 pm with "no reservation" but seated promptly. nicely decorated, clean, high ceilings. sound levels good. starters begin with a nice basket of fresh homemade variety of rolls/bread. tables were served in order they were taken. Seafood primavera was nicely done tasty and served hot. staff service was good. even the picky fusbutts I took with me were not to overly critical. No booze available.
