This used to be the go to place when I started dating my husband 25 years ago Now i wouldn't even give my dog the leftovers of what I couldn't eat. Stopped by for lunch today. It was past 1:00 so the restaurant was pretty much empty. I was greeting immediately. The restaurant was very tired looking, in need of a remodel. The furniture was old and the carpet is very worn. The waitress met me quickly and was very attentive through the entire meal. I wish I caught her name so I could give her a shoutout. I ordered the spaghetti and meatball lunch special. It came with a salad which was very plain. The spaghetti was a very small portion considering how cheap pasta is. The meatball was the star of the lunch. Very moist and favorable. The sauce wasn't seasoned very well. You could get a better sauce in a jar at Wegman's. The price was $15.00 for the special and a can of Coke. Not sure why so expensive since the portion was small and they are not investing in updating the restaurant. read more

I'm not a food snob, and I don't even come from any fancy foodie paradise like, say NYC or Italy. But I can cook, and I know how to season food. Now, Williamsport isn't exactly drowning in restaurants, so I turned to Yelp reviewers to learn about area favorites. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by an old gentleman, and given menus. She ordered one of the specials-the eggplant parm and I ordered sausage with spaghetti, only I wanted fettuccini noodles instead. I noticed that most of the patrons were older folks-lots of gray hair. While we were waiting they served bread and our salads. The tomatoes in the salads were fresh. But there was WAY too much dressing. It looked like salad soup! The bread was just OK. A tad dry and not really fresh like good Italian bread. A few moments later we got our meals. First thing we noticed was the pool of red water on her plate (How hard is it to strain out all the water from the pasta before plating it?!). Then we both tried the actual breaded eggplant. It tasted somewhat old, and the texture was soggy, overy oily, like they used day old cooking oil or maybe they fried up a WHOLE bunch of eggplants earlier in the week and just microwaved it for "Specials night". The actual sauce was boring, bland, un seasoned, not fresh at all. I don't like to compare homemade food with canned, but honestly, the Ragu you buy in a jar is a better sauce, and I hate Ragu. Our waitress seemed thoroughly uninterested in whether we were satisfied or not. A good waiter would ask why two half plates of food were left on the table and no boxes were requested...ah well. I feel like this place might gets by because there really don't seem to be a lot of other similar restaurant choices near by to compare it to. As I was trying to get up enough enthusiasm to eat more, I was thinking of that Fawly Towers episode when Basil asks the old ladies if they are enjoying their meals and and they all autimatically cheer "Oh yes, Mr. Fawlty! Everything is wonderful!" Lets face, it, if you can't prepare a decent eggplant parm with good pasta and sauce, then you really have no business calling your place a restaurant, let alone an Italian restaurant. read more

the service was decent, food decent, prices decent.... nothing to brag about. eaten there many many times. love the bread, peppers, etc... I don't think there marinara sauce, and def not the Marsala sauce, is anything special or to brag about. Marsala sauce is thick yellow and tastes nothing like any Marsala I've ever tasted-more like cream of chicken with ?? . The red sauces are bland and nothing much to say about either... not horrible... The steak is great and cooked perfect each time. A casual dining atmosphere with exceptional food. I had the veal Marsala with fettuccini Alfredo. Perfect, perfect and perfect! My spouse had the gnocchi in Mariana sauce with meatballs. I sampled some. They were delicious! The breading, gnocchi and sauces appear to be homemade. Very, very good! The service was fast. The server checked in on us several times during our meal. The overall price is less than I would've expected for the portion sizes. I highly recommend this restaurant! Well done!!! read more

I have no idea why this place is getting such hostile reviews -- maybe those people are more suited to Olive Garden? I've eaten here each of the five times I've visited Williamsport since 2002. I love this place for what it is - a family-owned old-school Italian place. With low light, heavy wood furniture, booths, and a bar that looks like it was last re-done in the '70s. You can always count on The Villa for a good cocktail and hearty meal. If you like hot peppers, ask for some when they bring your bread. Theirs are awesome. You can also buy a pint or quart of them to go. Dinners come with a salad of iceberg lettuce, celery, onion, tomato. I like to ask them to add black olives. The bleu cheese dressing is awesome. Things they do especially well: steaks, fish, meatballs. **My favorite meal there is one of their occasional specials: tenderloin tips with mushrooms sautéed in garlic butter & olive oil, served over penne tossed with cheese. Perfect with a glass of the house merlot. Yesterday I sat in a booth in the bar area and I had a wonderful waitress. I didn't catch her name but she was blonde. She was kind and helpful. I've eaten at The Villa many times and always had good food and good service. Until Friday 4/27/18 when I called to order take out. I told the lady who answered the phone that I wanted to place an order and she said, 'Just a minute' then laid the phone down. She didn't put me on hold so I spent two or three minutes listening to the sounds of a noisy restaurant. Then a man picked up the phone and when I explained that I was waiting to place a take out order he said 'Just a minute' and laid the phone down. I could hear him in the background complaining, "She must have just put the phone down, walked away and never came back!" Yep, she did. And now so did you, buddy! A third person picked up the phone. I once again explained that I was trying to place an order. I had to repeat myself three times because she couldn't hear me. The two previous employees had heard me just fine so I don't know what was going on. By the third time I said "I'm trying to place an order!" I was more or less shouting into the phone. She responded with a sigh and said "I can't really hear you but go ahead." Needless to say, at that point I gave up, told her to never mind and took my business elsewhere. read more

I really like the food there. There is a very good selection and the prices are on par with other restaurants in the area. I recommend the lasagna or the spaghetti and meatballs. All you can eat bread and peppers are also very good. While the place is a little outdated on the inside, there isn't much in this area so you have to put up with it. There must be better quality Italian food in the area but this restaurant was recommended by a local so we thought it must be good. Been going to the Villa for years(I'm from Williamsport but have lived in the Atlanta, GA area for the past 23 years). For the most part, the food at the Villa is good. I always like the Italian restaurants that have a nice-sized bar area where you can enjoy a drink either before or after a meal(a lot of newer Italian restaurants in the area do not have this). My biggest issue is with some of their prices(especially the Veal dishes). I find it hard to believe that they have customers willing to spend $27-29 for a veal dish. I live in Atlanta and I can get Veal Parm/Marsala for several dollars cheaper at most places than I can at the Villa. You would think prices at a restaurant in a small town in central PA would be cheaper than a big city like Atlanta. Still, The Villa always has some daily specials that offer good bang for the buck(including some all you can eat specials). I think most of their menu is pretty well priced but the outrageous prices for veal is the biggest gripe. Overall, would recommend this place. read more

I've only ever eaten here once, and that statistic will likely forever remain that way. The decor is okay, but doesn't match the prices. We went for the "all you can eat" lasagna. I would be stunned to find out that the sauce wasn't canned Hunt's. The "lasagna" (term used lightly) was cheese and Hunt's tomato sauce and A noodle. I couldn't/wouldn't eat more than the first piece. So, my sample size was small, but I would at least not recommend the all-you-can-eat lasagna. read more

Go here at a minimum of once per week. Always hot, delicious food. The Italian dishes are homemade, the soups are wonderful and homemade as well. Even the salad dressings are homemade. To the morons complaining about prices....WHAT? Go to Denny's for some Italian if you think the prices are too high for you. Dinners include peppers in oil, bread, salad or soup. The place is out dated and the prices were high for what you got. We got a pizza, if it wasn't a frozen pizza, it sure tasted like it. (I have had better frozen pizza from the store) We paid $17.00 for this pizza and it was bad. Will not go back and would not recommend it to anyone. I'll start with the service. The waitress was rude and uncaring. She wouldn't even stop at the table when I asked for something. She just gave me an uh-ha as she walked past. None of the food looked like what it was supposed to. The salads were lettuce , onions, and celery. My chicken parmesan had no flavor. The spaghetti was broken up into small pieces and overcooked. My son's chicken marsala was grilled chicken with gravy and mushrooms. His girlfriend's fettuccine alfredo was nothing more than ricotta cheese mixed with milk and pasta. My girlfriend's pasta primavera was dried out seafood mixed with canned peppers, celery and pasta. I would give it zero stars if that were possible. read more
