I came in last minute for a Brazilian wax because my usual place had closed, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. I'm 7 months pregnant and explained that I can't easily see or trim the area myself, but the technician repeatedly made comments about how long the hair was and how she'd "never seen it like this," and she's "never taken so long on a brazilian," which made me feel judged and uncomfortable. The wax took about an hour, which is much longer than any Brazilian I've had before. Even with that time, the service wasn't fully completed -- she said she couldn't remove some of the inner hairs and initially skipped the backside until I insisted her to do it. I did appreciate that she did a nice job threading my eyebrows, which is why I'm giving two stars, but overall the waxing service was not a good experience. I didn't feel comfortable during the appointment and wouldn't return for waxing services again. read more

One of the best dip powder manicures I've had. I went in with no booking and no wait time. My manicurist took her time taking off my previous powder manicure, prepping the nails, making the shape look good and even, cut my cuticles and even gave me a little massage at the end to top it off. She filed my nails down from the powder manually (no auto/electric nail file) so it came out super even and beautifully tapered. I'd mark down maybe quarter of a point for the limited selection of powder nail colours (I had wanted maybe a more muted colour than pictured) and the clean up at the end could have been just a little more thorough but nothing a couple of hand washes can't clean up by myself. True test now is to see if any cracks appear and how long these nails last. read more

Meh. That's the best way to describe Grace NY Nails. I try to avoid this place, but sometimes when I'm desperate (e.g., need to get my gel manicure off) or in a rush, I go here because it's close to me. They have a deal for mani-pedis between Monday-Thursday for $25. With tax, it's about $26.50. There's a $10 minimum on card and tips are cash only. Pedicure: The technician who worked on me was nice, but the paint job was mediocre. Despite drying for over 30 minutes, my toe nail and pinky nail got severely messed up after they saran-wrapped it. As in, half of the polish was gone and looked pretty bad. A+ for the strong massage though. Manicure: Within 6 hours, my manicure was also chipping. Similarly, the coats were too heavy. Now my pain point here is that my technician would go under my nails to clean them with a stick and would go tooooooo deep to the point that my thumb was in pain for 2 days. The slightest touch would hurt. Service: Overall, the ladies are nice. They will try to up-sell you, but that's pretty normal nowadays. Annoying, yes, but business. I went back the next day to have my pedicure fixed (I'm going on a beach trip and that's the whole reason why I went in!) and the lady was nice enough to fix it and even offer to fix my other nails as well. I declined that part as I was short on time and don't have high hopes for it lasting. TL;DR: If you're in a time crunch, sure. If you just need to have your gel manicure, sure. Massage? Yeah, maybe. Do not go here... EXTREMELY rude and scammed me/kept a tip when services were not provided. On 3/28 I had a manicure/pedicure reservation through an app called classpass that books appointments similar to groupon in that you pay in advance for the service you want and at a discounted rate. Upon arrival, I confirmed with an employee at Grace Nails that I was here for my reservation through the classpass app. She nodded and had me sit for the pedicure, never asking or questioning what classpass was. Besides the point, I had the roughest, most painful pedicure of my life... the hot towel literally left burn marks on my toes. I then went to sit for a manicure and before she was about to paint my nails I tipped her $10 (which is almost a 50% tip on the discounted services) and asked if I could pay in cash to add on a massage since the pedicure and manicure were prepaid. Another woman who worked there stood up and aggressively told me that nothing has been paid for. I showed her the class pass app, the email confirmation and the credits used and she rudely told me she had no idea what i was talking about and I explained that I confirmed I was booked through classpass when I arrived. She then aggressively told me I had to pay for the pedicure and I told her I just wanted to leave without finishing the manicure and was extremely uncomfortable. She charged me $23 for the pedicure and the woman had the audacity to keep the $10 tip without providing the services for the manicure. They said they never heard of classpass even though the address, phone number and name of the place was the same on the app AND the classpass system confirms your appointment with a rep from whatever salon you book with. Between the extremely rude demeanor of the employees, the painful pedicure and lack of apology PLUS keeping an extremely generous tip.... definitely do not recommend.. read more

Went to get my nails done right after work and hot very lucky that the wait was only 5 minutes. Sonja did my nails and I may have spelt the name wrong, my apologies if so. She did a phenomenal job! They look great and she took care of all of my requests including to push the cuticles back a lot and even fixed a nail for me. I got the gel manicure which was $30 . Very reasonable for the service I got. I am very pleased and will definitely be coming back . Just a quick update, my gel manicure was $30, I had her fix a nail which was $3 and I left a $5 tip, therefore my bill should have come out to no more than $40 with tax, unfortunately they over charged me, perhaps it was a mistake I will call and ask. I got a pedicure here 2 weeks ago and my red polish pedicure still looks perfect. Not one chip. They took my temperature when I walked in. They dont want you touching the bottles of nail polish. disposable files etc were used during the pedicure. There are no magazines anymore. Service was pleasant. Place is clean and quiet. I think my pedicure was $25 + tax etc. They didnt try to upsell me or push anything on me (phew!). I dont know why they get bad reviews. The place is fine. read more

I had a comp day on a Monday, and I felt like getting a pedicure. After looking at various nearby places, I decided on Grace NY Nails, and I'm so glad I did! First, they're up front about their prices. They have menus posted and gave me an itemized receipt at the end. I appreciate that. Second, their spa pedicure was absolutely worth the price. I've had he higher-level spa pedicures at other places, but none that included so many features. And the 10-minute foot and leg massage is worth its weight in gold. Blanca did an incredible job. My legs were tired and sore from marching in the Pride March the day before, and I left feeling calm and rejuvenated. I got a French tip pedicure, which was an additional $5 (which is totally reasonable), and Blanca spent a lot of time making sure everything was perfect before moving on. Third, bonus neck and shoulder massage! I didn't realize that was part of the spa pedicure package, but when I went over to the dryers, I got one. It was the icing on the cake for me. Fourth, they're open on Mondays! That's fantastic! They also have a Monday-Thursday deal for mani-pedis which I did not partake in today, but I made a mental note of it for later. The paint job here is very mediocre, and so is the customer service. The complimentary foot massage lasts like 2 seconds and they don't come check up on you once they sit you down to dry. I went in on Saturday for a mani pedi and I witnessed a worker coming back from the laundromat with wet towels/washcloths [that they put into the heat sanitizer] and begin to fold them -- using anything she could get her hands on them to separate them. a mani table. the massage chair... she dropped more than one on the floor in the process -- the unfinished wood floor [not treated/glossed]. and then put them back into the pile to be folded. on a good note, they have a callus gel remover that really works. read more

My wife took my 2 kids here today. They didn't even turn on the water for their pedicure and they basically just painter their nails no lotion massage or anything. She could have done that at home. It was $32. The women who did my nails was incredibly rude. She cut my nail bed causing me to bleed and stated it was because of my dry skin. The nail job itself was a as bad as the service. She fully missed spots that I asked her fix. She just painted over the completed UV gel nails. It looks spotty and streaky with spots missing. Well, not only are they located closer to my house than any other nail salon, but during the freezing temperatures a few weeks ago, I suspected that my boyfriend was going to propose and wanted to make sure my nails looked great for the ring!! I had come here a few times last year as I like to support local businesss. They try to upsell to prices that are a bit steep and not worth the service. After swearing it off last year, I decided to give it another shot. The technician made me bleed with no aplologies. I insisted she let it be, but would not listen. When the bill came, I used a debit card. They do not allow you to put a tip on the card, but do not notify before or have any signage. They refused to rerun the card for a tip and said I had to go to a local business to use an ATM. There is just a feeling that customer service is not important. I will not return. read more

Just got back from a manicure... I live around the corner and decided to get a quick ($6) manicure before I head out to a holiday party this evening. I brought my own polish because I had a specific color in mind, but changed my mind once I arrived, and decided to get a gel manicure. The woman (owner) was so gracious and gave me time to select a similar color and then took her time to paint my nails carefully - not rushing to get it over with. Tools were sanitized and they had a good selection of colors and brands (OPI and Essie and more). Someone came in to collect money on a bill and my manicure was momentarilly interrupted, though I was in no rush, both the woman and her husband apologized many times for the interruption and offered me a free 10 minute back massage (usually $13). The husband gave me a (strong) massage (not a wimpy light tap of his fingers you usually get after a manicure) while she finished up my nails and I left very pleased. My nails are shiny AND i feel like I shed a little bit of the week's stress from my back and shoulders. I will definitely be going back - a neighborhood staple. read more

I've given the place several tries because it is convenient to my home. Sadly, it is consistently a disappointment. The staff is generally friendly however you get pressured into upgrading what you want which creates a tense feeling. It's always a rush job. I got the worst pedicure of my life here. Came here for New Year's. It's $6 a manicure but they surprise you with tax so it really is $6.27, which is no big deal. I wanted to come again until I asked Emma how much was the regular pedicure and she said $25! So if you want mani & pedi( I'm not sure if they have a special but if not) it is $31! Am so happy and relaxed after my 1hour spa pedicure with Grace and Sita. It's called the Seacret, mineral spa sea salt pedicure product. I work 40+ hours on my feet and I needed to relax as well as give them TLC. Sita my pedicurista paid close attention to my feet and I am so pleased. All I had to say to Grace was to "hook me up". She knew what I needed. My feet felt this fresh aroma therapy and I just wish I took a before and after picture. My skin has never felt so soft and it's thanks to Seacret. The worst manicure I have ever had. The nail tech filed my nails completely crooked and When I looked and said oh do you mind making them even and more square she said then proceeds to file the already slanted side of the nail again. I said no please file down the other side so it's even and she had no clue was I was talking about and kept saying they were even. She was using a dirty nail file and non of the tools were cleaned.
