I didnt mind the wait because i had liked it the first couple times. Came for a special $68 powder mani+pedi, ended up paying $95. Nail tech suggested i do gel pedi instead so that was fine then mani came along. Clearly she was rushing, she did a poor job. Not only were my fingers bleeding but right when she was about to be done i asked her to fix them bc they were lumpy. she "fixed" them but i was still left with lumpy nails and spots where she clearly missed with polish. This was the worst waxing experience in the 30+ years I have been waxing my legs. The waxing room didn't have any place for my clothes or handbag. The table in the room was so small my feet touched the wall; I'm 5'7. The technician was inexperienced and sloppy. She suggested that I have "thin skin," and therefore it is painful, and I might bruise. THIS IS NOT A THING. I'm sure the tech might argue that "it's because I shave between waxing." I just started going to this nail salon this year, I got acrylics done for the first time for my birthday this February and Carol was very helpful with nail care info and prices. When I got back from my vacation, I booked an appointment to get my acrylics removed and got a regular manicure. She's very talented and I love her enthusiasm with nails! For me, Reina makes me feel at ease, comfortable or "at home". Every time I walk into the store, at least one or two techs will say hello and asks you what would you like done. Carol, the owner, seems very attentive, delightful to work with and treats the staff respectfully. The times I was here when it wasn't busy, someone is always cleaning or wiping down. When they're busy taking one customer after another, I've seen them sanitize their tools in between. I do agree with some of the comments that it is a hit or miss. I usually do walk-ins when i come here thinking maybe I could try it out with another tech to at least broaden my options/ compare their works and see who's work i like best. In all fairness, I only have had the chance to work with 3 of their techs - Amy, Lisa and another one we won't name because that's the miss. So now I've learned to call in advance and ask for either of the 2 ladies I've mentioned. Guys, I want to rate this higher. And at the end of the day, I'll keep going back bc I do think they're the best in Jackson Heights. I got a couple flowers on my mani so the total cost was $90 + $15 tip. Pedicure: they did a great job today. Color came out nice and the massage was relaxing. Manicure: not so great. Granted, I know my nails are short, but I think I asked for a fairly easy design. The response was not a happy one. The nail tech kept asking me if I wanted the stickers. I tried, but didn't think any fit what I was going for. So then she said it would be $5 per flower and $3 per sticker. I said okay, I'll take the painted flower. At the end, she complained that I used 7 colors. And the end result is.... Fine I suppose. But she said she couldn't file my nails "natural" shape bc they're too short and the flowers are not well done (although she tried). There is also gel on my skin which I can't stand (and is unhealthy). I'm posted what I asked for vs. what I got after much pushing. I asked for blue french regular manicure, all my french lines are uneven and the blue nail polish was running empty. She knew that when she painted first nail. This was my first mani-pedi experience post Covid and I have nothing but great things to say about Reina Nails and its staff. The spa took precautions (using every other spa chair and applying shields to the the nail counters) and looked spotless. The ladies there were kind, friendly and engaged in conversation with myself and the other patron at the salon. This nail salon is a Jackson Heights gem and I'm so glad I found it! Came here because my usual place is a farther drive and I needed to get my nails off ASAP. It was within walking distance. I came in Sunday around 5pm after work and only had to wait about 10 mins with no appointment. They had me choose a color from their various SNS color wheel while I waited. There wasn't anyone hovering around me or rushing me while I looked which was appreciated. The lady who did my nails, Carol, was very skilled. I knew this because she was constantly looking at the other technicians and seemed to be helping them as well. Her own nails looked great too so I knew I was in good hands. The process seemed a little rushed since I came close to closing and I think she also had to do another person after me so she was trying to coordinate the times? But overall the nails came out great. They're VERY CLEAN as well! Carol opened a new set of tools when she did my nails. They offer a loyalty card as well with a free mani on your 10th visit. I have been going to this salon for a little over two years, and I've officially decided to stop visiting as I moved out of the neighborhood and the quality of service and experience is just not worth the trip. Here are my thoughts based on my experience visiting this salon often: 1. I usually make appointments because I prefer to have someone available when I'm there, and I've waited upwards to 45 minutes to be seen, even with an appointment. This salon will take walk-ins as much as they can regardless of if an appointment is coming up. Appointments mean absolutely nothing at this salon. 2. I've had multiple techs work on my nails, and sometimes the quality is great and lasts 2 weeks (which is ideal for dip powder which is what i usually get), but the last dip powder I did my nails were cracking and breaking after the first week. If the salon is busy and there's people waiting, they will rush and go super fast, and your nails won't last as long as they should. Note, this place is usually busy because the area is densely populated and the demand for salons are high. There is a lack of consistency amongst techs and the services, and when it's busy they will move as fast as possible to get you out of there, which isn't necessarily a good thing when it comes to the end result. 3. On busy days, this salon can definitely get messy. It is blatantly clear that they are reusing tools that should only be one time use. I've sat down to have my nails done, and everything was so rushed they didn't even wipe down the table and clean up after the person before me. 4. I had one of their free services cards for my 10th manicure, I used it to get $10 off my pedicure, and paid full price for my dip mani. When I asked them to sign my new card for the dip mani, I was told I wasn't allowed to even though I paid FULL PRICE for that mani. How does this make sense? Super stingy. The pricing for the services are fair, but not worth the service provided. Long waits, unclean stations, quality inconsistencies and rushed results are why I won't be returning to this salon. Definitely my go-to nail salon in Queens! First impression is that the space is very clean and organized. The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting me situated to begin my manicure and pedicure. Definitely make an appointment so they're expecting you to save yourself from waiting as it can get busy from walk-ins. The prices are extremely reasonable especially for the mani-pedi combo at about $55. Obviously if you want gel, there's an additional charge of $10-15 extra but that's not too bad. I love that they accommodate the pressure to what I'm comfortable with esp during the pedi routine since I'm ticklish. When i was doing my mani, I liked how they checked to make sure I was content before proceeding. I brought a photo of what I wanted for nails, and I'm sure that was very helpful. I specially came here because it had pretty good ratings despite the high prices but this was by far the worst mani pedi I've ever gotten. The lady who did my nails did everything so quickly. I felt incredibly rushed. She made 3 of my fingers bleed. She didn't paint by the cuticles.. it literally looks like my mani pedi has grown out because of how far away she painted them and she painted them HORRIBLY. She also cut my nails unevenly. It was super clean, they use pedicure bags and have plexiglass shields between you and the manicurist. I got a gel manicure + design, regular pedicure with 10 minute massage. Amy takes great care in her work and doesn't rush the process, is also very attentive to detail. I did the package of dip mani with pedicure and 10 min massage for $75; rounded shape an extra $5 which is pretty standard anywhere and was well worth it. Made an appt for 10am and was seen right away, while other walkin customers had to wait a bit so be sure to book ahead for best experience (easy to do on their website). Most importantly the salon was clean and well kept, disposable covers used in foot tubs, good ventilation with door open and plastic panels installed at each table for safety measures. Got a regular mani and pedi here. Maria did the services and really cleaned the cuticles on my big toes. Unfortunately, she also cut my toe in the process, and it swelled up around the nail. She also was a bit rough with filing the toes in general, despite telling her that it hurt. Manicure was fine, but they don't soak your nails.
