In 2018 having some health issues, NHM was suggested to me by my friend. Her husband had lost a good amount of weight with them and this was something my dr suggested I do or results would be fatal for me. The staff has been very supportive, and even when my weight goes up, we discuss options and they continuously make me feel proud of what I've already accomplished. One of the best things I have ever done, is to sign up with New Horizon Medical Services. I'm a six foot man with a muscle disease who weighed 286 pounds, and I was weak and constantly out of breath. I had tried numerous books and programs such as Atkins, Keto, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Noom, The Whole Thirty, etc. Even if I lost weight, I would gain it back and then some. At New Horizon the staff is very upbeat, positive and incredibly helpful. I have lost over 55 pounds since August. I have more energy than I have had in 20 years, I feel healthier than I have in a very long time. I highly recommend this program. They provide a Nutritionist, a Nurse Practitioner, and an Exercise Coach that you see on a weekly basis. I went here after my second son was born I lost a good amount of weight. After my third son was born I went back only to find out they changed their billing policy. Now everyone gets charged $120 a month not covered by insurance. Originally my copay was billed as a $25 office visit. Now it is billed as a $50 specialty visits. In the course of 1.5 years it went from costing me $100 a month to $300 a month. I would love to go back as I lack motivation, but it is not worth the cost. read more

Great place to go if you need to lose weight and have insurance. They have a nutritionist, a nurse and a fitness person to help you out. To be honest, I value the nutritionist and nurse the most. The fitness team really don't seem to display the necessary skills to help you improve on your fitness goals. They themselves look tired and that low energy does not help me at all. And billing is inconsistent. I would attend for weeks (always paying my copay at the front desk) and then all of a sudden get a bill for 3-4 months of Billings on each one of the sessions. You can be on a program of all foods, or add in protein shakes and bars, or go with something more serious like surgery. read more

I went here for over a year and had no issues - until I left the program. I suddenly received a bill and when I called I kept getting told, our billing department will get back to you. For six months I kept getting the same answer - until I got a letter from a freaking collection agency. I had my insurance company call and magically the billing department was available to speak to them. Turns out, New Horizon didn't charge me the full co-pay at the time of my visit then looked back over a year and billed me then wouldn't tell me why - then sent me to collections. great communication people - just f-ing great. its a shame too, it was a good weight loss program, but what a shitty company read more

Getting older and keeping that trim waistline isn't quite as easy as it looks! Luckily, the great staff at New Horizon is there to help a guy out. I was thoroughly impressed with the way in which they approached my weight loss! Not only did they have a nutrition team to help me get control of my diet, they also had a medical practitioner who kept an eye on what was happening within my body, a fitness specialist to help me shape up what was happening outside my body, and a behavioral counselor to help me manage all of my stress! As a type 2 diabetic, I am happy to report that I not only lost the weight, but I also got control over my sugars like I haven't had in years! The staff was so supportive and encouraging to me! The staff, especially the front desk staff, is super helpful and friendly. I've lost 34# in about 9 weeks. The value of the program to me is the nutritionist and the meal replacement (which is completely optional). The fitness part is useless, and the NPs that you see each visit are reading from a script. Be warned that they are changing their program come Jan 2022, making it 3x more expensive out of pocket week to week (At least on my insurance). I'll be finding a new plan then. read more

I wish I could review this place twice.. one for the actual program and one for the stuff that happened to me at the end. I was a patient from March 2017 thru Jan 2019. The program works if you stick to it. Its all about accountability and discipline. I had tremendous success on this program and I learned a ton about nutrition that will stay with me forever. The staff was always friendly and willing to help. However, the turnover I experienced was very hard to deal with. Every week it seemed I was talking to someone new and it became exhausting. Luckily the nutritionist I had was there the whole way thru.. until she ended up leaving as well. At that point I decided it was time for me to move onto something else. Unfortunately my experience didn't end well as after I told them I was leaving... bills started coming in for "no show" appointments as far back as Nov 2018. I was always appreciative of the staff to be able to call and reschedule my appointments as life happens. I was never charged a fee. However, the moment I told them I was leaving the program, bills started to arrive that were billing me from "no show" appointments several months earlier. After many phone calls they wouldn't budge and sadly I am leaving the program with a bitter taste in my mouth. Pls be aware of this if you decide someday to move on. read more

New Horizon Medical changed me for the better. I recently joined the program at New Horizon Medical in November and I am currently down 67.2 lbs in just 3 months. This program has been very successful for me and helped me in so many different ways. The medical staff is wonderful and the medical assistants work very hard for their patients. Don't know where the negative reviews are coming from. I have been a participant since May of 2017 and have experienced incredible success. Success that years at Weight Watchers couldn't touch. I'm nearly at the halfway point of an anticipate 90# total loss. NO OPTIFAST, NO SUPPLEMENTS, just real food, good decisions and self control. I've been very impressed with this place so far! I'm still new to the program, but so far so good! You have to meet with a lot of different people- fitness, medical, nutrition etc in the beginning and the appointments are long, but I guess that helps weed out those who aren't serious! At first it seemed ridiculous to have to get blood work done to lose weight, but they are incredibly thorough and the purpose is to rule out issues with your thyroid and to help put you on a diet plan specific to you- ie: low cholesterol if your blood work showed high cholesterol etc. They lose one star from me for not being very on time. read more

I called for my daughter who's 18 on Friday about there services. I said she would be going to college in the fall would this program work for her. They said we have a lot of college patients on the program but not sure if that's going to be long enough but we will have the rep call you back. Well a week later, rep called and said they have to be 21 as she wouldn't even let me finish my sentence she abruptly interrupted...rude. Gave me number she said she refers patients that's Village Pediatrics so I call them and they say no we are primarily just a pediatric center. read more

Complete scam! They submit fraudulent claims to insurance companies - which is illegal. When I called them to get this resolved I was given different phone numbers, transferred around. I left several messages, never got a call back. I would call whenever I got a bill in the mail for services I never received. Today, I got a call saying that there was an important message for me on the portal from the health care team, I haven't been there in 4 months. I called them to find out what this was about and spoke to a snarky woman named Debby. She said the important message was that the office was closed today and that when I get these messages in the future to just ignore them. I asked her to remove my email from the list, she said, "We use an automated list, we cannot control blast emails". I said, "you just have to remove my email from the computer, can you do this while I'm on the phone, please?" She said, "Um. No. I cannot. I am not near a computer." I asked if I could speak with a manager, she said, "I am a manager" and promptly hung up on me. They use eCW to populate bills and patient portal access, so it is easy to disable an account by marking it "inactive" or by removing the email address entered. It's easy, takes 2 seconds and a "manager" should know how to do this. I called back and a guy answered. I asked to speak with a manager. He said, "I am the manager". I said, "the woman I just spoke with said she was the manager?" He said, "We are both managers and owners" I said, "If you're the owner, you'll be able to solve this for me" and explained the fraudulent billing and the spam emails. He said that the billing office is in control of everything and he couldn't fix it; the billing flows through eCW automatically. I said that I know that is true, but the charges must be entered in eCW first, if they're entered correctly, they will flow through correctly. Then, he said that everything had been fixed the charges had been written off, it is a small office and they are all within 10 feet of a computer so when a colleague heard him talking about this, they looked into my account and saw that everything was fixed &/or written off. I told him that Debby told me she couldn't fix or even look into my account because she was, "nowhere near a computer". He stammered and said, "I don't know". I don't know why Debbie had to say she wasn't near a computer if she was I suspect she just didn't want to do any work. I also don't know why I got such a run around if they can communicate with other departments so easily. This guy said that all of my charges had been written off. I said I appreciated that, but wondered why no one ever called me to let me know, or sent a letter. He said he appreciated that feedback. I said, "Submitting false claims to insurance companies is illegal, you shouldn't do that or it will really hurt your business and result in criminal investigations." He said, "I'm aware of that". I'm glad he's aware of that because after Debby, the supposed owner and manager, was so rude, unprofessional & unhelpful and such an opposite response from the guy, I'm going to investigate this further with the Attorney General. I don't want to be responsible for payment of services I never received & I don't want my insurance billed incorrectly either.It only benefits their paychecks. I hope this guy was right, and that everything has been written off. Don't go here, they're scammers. New Horizon Health and Wellness is a secret that everyone should know about!!!! I happened to hear about the program and stopped by to check it out. The day I went, the program was closed, but the gentleman that works there opened the doors and took the time to tell me about the program. I realized right then that this was the place for me. I have struggled with my weight all of my life. Between the nutritionist, wellness coach, nurse and fitness coach they taught me how to eat properly. I can honestly say, they have helped change my life for the better!!! I have lost a little over 40 lbs in 3 months. Yes , the results come from your hard work, but with them helping and cheering you on, it makes it much easier!!!! The program helps you learn how your body works and what is the best for YOU!!! I think this company needs to train ALL STAFF on proper communication and customer service. I began this program before Thanksgiving in November. I was doing pretty well. I think I lost 13 pounds very quickly. I was struggling over Christmas with traveling, off my schedule, parties etc. and I gained weight. I came in to get back on track. I met with the wonderful Mary who is the nutritionist I adore. Next, I met with Robin who is Amazing, the behavioral specialist and they both encouraged me and set me up for success...Then I met with the medical person, I think she is a Nurse Practitioner (I do not know her name) and she told me that she would recommend that I leave the program. That I am not committed. She said it was up to me, I didn't have to leave but that she recommend I do. She was so cold and condescending about it all. She kept saying "this does not make you a bad person"...... what? I was stunned and I felt like I got slapped in the face. Here I am at a weight loss facility because I have been struggling on my own. I gained weight and I was told I should leave the program? Of course I could not stay after that. Absolutely degrading and humiliating to experience that. There are some wonderful people who work in this facility. The fitness trainers are terrific, the person who does the Resting Metabolism testing is lovely. But, some of the staff really need to learn how to treat others as they would like to be treated. Weight loss is a multifaceted sensitive issue, if it was as simple as follow this plan and you will be fine. It takes time to settle into shifting behaviors and mindset. If it were so simple there would be no need for your business. You claim to address all areas of weight loss, then how do you tell someone who was still relatively new to the program, showed success, then had a setback, that this is not for them? I would not recommend you to anyone. I would not want anyone to experience what I experienced. Please. give my best to Robin and Mary! They should start their own business! read more

i started hoping this establishment would give me sound nutritional advice. They wanted to start me on a phase 1 plan which calorie goal was between 800-1000 calories a day. The nutritionist told me no fresh tomatoes as "they're full of sugar". Optifast was also recommended. I stated my concerns as the ingredient list includes high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, sugar, palm kernel oil. The response I got with concerns was "it's made by nestle which has been around forever". Maybe this program would work for some but I could never survive a 12 hour nursing shift on 800-1000 calories. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I started there with the understanding that I wanted to lose weight before a cruise. They knew when the cruise was and the dates I would be gone. Also time I would be gone for a Nation wide Animal cruelty group my husband and I volunteer for. They were completely fine when I started and gave them all the dates I wouldn't be in the State. I received a call from my Moms nursing home that she was in Congestive heart failure. While I was with her I called New Horizon. I talked to Debbie. She couldn't have been any nicer to me. She told me not to worry about cancelling and not to worry about the 50.00 cancellation charge. The following day I received a call from the office saying I owed a 50.00 cancellation fee. I called back and was told not to worry about it. I advised them that I was in Ct taking care of my daughter and her 2 children who had just been diagnosed with type 1 Flu. The Dr also put me on Tamaflu as a precaution. They advised me not to come in. Wait and see what happens. I received another call. Same front end person telling me I owned another 50.00 for cancellation. I explained they cancelled me as a precaution. She insisted I had to pay it. I told her that I would not pay for my Mom going into CHF, and being exposed to type 1 flu. Her response was "so you want to stop coming then" my answer was "yes, if you think I'm paying 100.00" she said "fine" and hung up. January has been a very difficult start for me. This was the last thing I needed. It's so not worth going. If you get sick, have an emergency or a scheduled vacation, you'll be charged for it. Not worth the grief! Tried many things to get healthy in the past. The Mew Horizon team welcomed me and encouraged me every step of the way. It really is a judgement free atmosphere. The support I received motivated me and made we want to succeed. Having three different doctors telling me I needed to get the weight off and quickly at that I decided to go on the opti fast plan. I followed the plan and the weight started to come off with ease. I am 13 weeks into the program and according to my scale I am down 49 pounds. I have tried many diets, starved myself, wore myself out. nothing worked. I finally gave it one more shot and started plan at New Horizon Medical. The people were very nice and I was very skeptical. So I said ok I will give it 4 weeks and see what happens. Well I have been on plan for 4 months and down 44 lbs. I feel wonderful. My energy level is great. I began my weight loss journey with New Horizons after my yearly physical and a recommendation from my PC Doctor. Since the first phone call to see if my insurance would cover the program, (it did) I have had nothing but wonderful people who are so supportive help me to lose 29 pounds so far and counting...the plan I have is tailored to me and adjusted as needed. They have 5 options from which to choose. Since I am a foodie I chose the real food option with protein snack bars. Each week I get weighed in on this super smart scale and my vitals are checked. I then spend time with Yukiko, PA. We go over all my medical issues and the week in general. She is knowledgeable and answers all my questions with thoughtful professionalism. If she doesn't have the answer I know it will be waiting for me when I come the following week. Next I see a nutritionist who guides me through the plan. They encourage me and check me protein, carbs, and fat levels for each day. We discuss menu options and variety as well. Thirdly, I see a physical trainer who looks at my steps, activity levels and shows me new ways to shape up and enjoy exercise. Lastly, I spend time with a behavioral counselor. She has successfully guided me through a family wedding, two vacations, and several weekend challenges. If you have tried WW or other programs and fizzled out like I did countless times, because I lost interest or starting eating too much of the processed food they were pushing. I highly recommend this program. I am eating very healthy foods and not even wanting to "cheat." I have lost weight, either 3 lbs or 1.8 lbs each week since September 1st. I still have a significant amount to go but I know with the staff's help and loving support, motivation, and encouragement I will reach my goals for a Whole New Me. You should join too if you are willing to track every bite, the good the bad, and the ugly, and you are willing to put yourself first. No Excused Allowed ! This program is amazing. Having a constant support team has really helped me over the bumps in my weight loss journey. Behavioral counselors are top notch, nutrition always has the answers to my questions, fitness always pushes me ( because I'm really not doing anything haha) and medical always has my best interest in mind.
