They did not follow BIP during this (I was listening via phone) and asked me to keep her home till contact wi district was made 5 days later they told district they could not support her. They screwed up and threw her away! If your child fits the narrow profile they are looking for it's a wonderful school if not they do not have flexibility. Search elsewhere

He thrived in the one-to-one environment and a creative personality, previously untapped, began to emerge from within my son. He graduated from Yellow Wood and Mt. Si and has attended Bellevue College in the Autism Navigators Program. He will earn his AA from Bellevue College this spring. The teachers at Yellow Wood were inspirational. By tapping into my son's interests, they allowed him to thrive, paced his work appropriately, pushed him to the limits of his capabilities, and kept the lost communications he previously experienced to a minimum. I am still involved with Yellow Wood and feel very confident that current and future students will obtain similar benefits through the special learning environment that has only grown stronger over the last several years.

And one time even the teacher admitted to us that she let our child struggle to take the cap off a marker for over an hour and not helping him or letting him do anything until he did it, but he never was able to. Now that we've been out and into another school for a long time we realize how miserable our child was at this school, since he loves his new school and actually looks forward to going every day. The teachers are far too strict and cold towards the children and it was not a good fit for us. A few odd things. It was against school rules to ever allow parents inside the classroom except once a month by appointment. And also at one point the school had their full day license suspended or taken away. So they could not watch kids for more than a couple hours. We never got an explanation why, and at this point we took our child out of the school. I think most parents did the same thing.

Every classroom is different and caters to students as a whole and individually. My child was one of the oldest kids and the teacher taught her leadership skills, and helpfulness with younger children. I loved the way the teacher helped my daughter solve problems. Whenever there was a small issue, it never felt like a big deal because it was solved in the classroom, and my child felt empowered to learn how to solve her own problems in a loving way. What truly sets this school apart is Teacher Monica, a rare gem in the Greater Seattle area. With over 30 years of Montessori teaching experience, she brings a depth of understanding, patience, and guidance that's incredibly hard to find. She also had a knack for recruiting compassionate and loving assistant teachers such as Rebecca, Lori, and previously Gnana, whom we greatly appreciated. While only a very select number of schools in the area have teachers with comparable experience, those schools tend to be quite large, and it's not always guaranteed that your child will be placed with one of their most seasoned educators. At Eastgate, the environment is more personal and intentional, and we felt confident that our daughter was receiving direct support from someone who truly understands Montessori principles and how to nurture each child's growth. The teachers and staff are so incredibly warm, loving and kind. You can literally feel the energy of love right when you enter the parking lot! This school has done a fantastic job of creating a trustworthy and inclusive community among parents and staff. Everyone is just lovely and supportive. In order to graduate from high school in the US he needed to pass English language and writing competency tests. After the first couple of attempts, the results were not positive. In working with Lacey, his counselor at school, we were able to get him additional help and support and she worked with us to let us know when the next test would be. We got down to the last possible test of the year and he was understandably nervous. He knew that not passing would mean taking summer school classes and probably attending school for at least one more semester. All of his friends had graduated and gone on to college. Steve's life dream wants to become a physician in the US. He played himself like I had not seen before and was as prepared for the last test as he could've been. I remember driving him to the test location and rent in that morning. He came home after the exam and said that he felt pretty good and his counselor called me at work one afternoon to let me know that he had passed. His dream of becoming a physician Was just a few steps away. Steve was accepted to the University of Washington where he graduated with honors. He has now been accepted and is enrolled in medical school in eastern Washington and doing very well.
