Wonderful precision and attention to detail! Brought in a relatively large, Quaker wedding certificate in for custom framing. The staff took the time to help us find a simple, but unique frame, and demonstrated the difference between normal and museum glass (usually we'd probably do normal glass, but in this case the museum glass was totally worth the splurge). We explained what our calligrapher had told us and they reassured us that they would be able to match the paper color and properly space the glass (and they did!). Was quoted two weeks: two weeks and two days later we received the promised call and home delivery in a well-protected package with easy hanging mounts pre-installed on the back with directions and the hardware we needed to hang it on our wall. I had a very unique piece of art to be framed (an antique napkin) and I tried to shop around for a decent deal. The first place I went to gave me a quote that was not doable for me right now, and I came to New Image next, wondering if their prices might be more feasible. We made a mock-up of what I wanted the matting and frame to look like and they gave me a price. I had to be honest - I couldn't afford it given my circumstances at the moment (the price similar to place #1). I told them I was going to try again another time. What makes New Image stand out among the many other frame shops in this neighborhood is that they worked with me get the price down to something I could manage. I appreciated this so much. They said the piece would be finished by the weekend but the turnaround time was just two days. It looks beautiful. A tiny piece of barely noticeable hair got on the napkin (probably very easy to have happen since it's a piece of fabric and probably only even apparent to me honestly), so I may go back to get that fixed up, but I was very happy with my experience here. read more

First, I want to start off by saying that I try to support small businesses than going to chained ones. And boy, was I glad to stop by this place! I have stopped by on two separate days and both of the owners were very friendly and accommodating. They took their time to answer my questions and concerns. I'm an art college student and my budget is tight. I asked if they did oval mat cuts. And YES they do!!! The best part is that it was affordable. I did compare it to Blick and New Image was still better and faster (same day service!) My paintings have all exceeded the oval line that I have drawn and I am not very good at measuring to tell them what size of the oval cut that I needed. The man looked very confident when he measured them and put the numbers onto the computer and it cutted the ovals and frame (from a large mat I brought in). I placed them on my paintings and they were all PERFECT!! I could not be much happier. They were both patient with me and did a fantastic job. So if you're running around like a mad person trying to get mats cut to the last minute of your art show (like me, literally), do not fear! New Image does a quick, same day service (within minutes of you walking in, I'm not kidding) and wonderful job. And how can you pass an affordable price? It's nice as an artist to not have to worry or feel anxious about where to go or whether I'll be able to to get my pieces ready to present in time for a show, especially with such a great collection of material and service options like one hour completions. Bob is such a great guy to have here in the city. I have taken work to New Image Art and Framing over and over again. Between my wife and I, we have nearly half a dozen diplomas. We also had tons of art pieces we have accrued over time. Every single piece requiring framing has gone to Bob. He quickly comes up with amazingly creative matting and framing options. The prices are all reasonable for the quality of work, and he even does all the work in-house. So many places send work out. Great service. Came in looking for someone to repair a - 15lb? - frame of mine. The guy at the counter mentioned effectively what he would do to "repair" it - really just moving the screws along the frame (perhaps I should've come up with this myself, but hey, I'm not all that handy). He spent a good portion of the conversation explaining how to do things, and why it would be cheaper to do X over Y. Just wish I bought more in the end than a simple premade frame, since he saved me some money, hassle, and explained everything well enough that I could take care of the rest myself. read more

Absolutely the best find for art in the whole Philadelphia vicinity. Incredibly generous selection to enjoy and sort through, with something for everyone's taste. Bek (sp?) was there to help us when we came in and had such an accommodative, helpful way about him without the feeling of being pressured to buy. There was no need to look further. I needed the hooks and hanging wire on my frame to be fixed and was very pleased to have the frame fixed immediately. I was also given very helpful instructions on how to hang my frame correctly. The staff was friendly and welcoming and I will be sure to visit New Image again! read more

I'm giving one star because there is no no-star option. The disagreeable staff at this shop was unwilling to re-do my framing job when they did it wrong except in a half-measure way (i.e., in a way that didn't require them to use any additional supplies). Beware of bargains that aren't. read more

My wife and I were on vacation in New York and took a day trip to Philadelphia. We bought a print at a local museum but were unsure if we could get the print home without it getting damaged on the plane. We happened to walk by the store on our way to the train station back to New York. On a lark I asked the two clerks if they had a case we could put the print in to protect it. They ended up giving us one for free and would not accept payment. It was much appreciated. read more

They gave me a pickup date and told me they'd call when my frames were ready, but when I didn't hear anything, I ended up having to call them twice to find out each time my frames had been delayed, partially due to unexplained "damage." There was no proactive communication, and no concern for the delay or lack of communication. When I picked up my frames, the salesperson apologized, but only after I brought it up, and didn't offer any compensation, alternatives, or reason to return. read more
