Decided to give another place a try for a change. Wasn't a good idea. Ordered a large chicken and brocc and some dumplings. First off there was like 5 bites of chicken and the rest was broccoli. And the few bites of chicken there was tasted awful. Like it was boiled, with slimy sauce on it. Also the dumplings were not good at all. Usually u try a different place and its at least just ok. And I expect the food here is delicious for them to be open even now. As for the food: My entree, the General Tso's shrimp was so delicious. Sometimes I worry about the taste and texture of takeout shrimp. But this was just perfect; tender and fresh, just yummy, with tangy Tso sauce. But my egg roll and the fried rice left a lot to be desired. The eggroll was nice and crunchy as I would expect but I've never had an eggroll that had absolutely nothing but just white cabbage inside. Not a vegetable not a piece of pork nothing. And my fried rice had a strange taste and the texture was weird as if it was minced very small grains of rice and not delicious. Bad food and misrepresentation of prices - ordered lunch specials for delivery 1. the prices on a recent flyer that claims it had a new website were less than the prices charged when I received my order and after I gave them my credit card number. I know I'm going to regret this. If you spend more than $30 (which happens faster than you might think) you get to spin the wheel for a prize for your next trip! Sometimes, if you are dissatisfied with your spin, they'll even allow you to spin again. Come on, who doesn't like to spin a wheel for something free? Mini egg rolls: Insanely addicting, though a little pricey, if I'm being honest. Wonton eggdrop soup: By far my favorite in the area. Thick, not insanely salty, and the wontons are delicious. Would you believe me if I told you "New King Dragon" is a hidden gem? Well it is! Looks can be deceiving and in this case they are. I pulled in this big shopping center to meet someone that was running late. I decided to grab a quick bite to eat. I spotted the chinese restaurant from a distance and I "entered the dragon." The place was small and cluttered. It was your typical runt of the litter as far a chinese restaurants go. The one thing that set this place apart from the rest was the lady behind the counter. She made it her business to communicate with everyone who walked in. I never saw someone so friendly. She asked me what I wanted as polite as possible and her staff went to work. It was a standard wait time and when it was ready I was impressed with the price. So far I was happy. When I sat down to eat I realize one thing. They care about the food! If there not focusing on the restaurants appearance to make good food, then I'm sold. I enjoyed the chicken with just enough sauce. This is by far the best Chinese food I've ever had. My favorite dish is their specials, Thai Basil with fried tofu and the crabmeat wontons. I am always leery about Chinese food but I actually travel 20 minutes to this place every time we decide to eat it. Will not be ordering from here again. Lo mein sauce was watery, boneless spare ribs were dry, burnt and crumbly instead of the nice juicy pieces you get from almost all Chinese food restaurants. Seems like they sent me the last scoop of ribs from the bottom of the barrel...to top it all off, I ordered veggie dumplings for my wife who is a vegetarian and they sent me meat dumplings. Best dumplings on Long Island I'd venture to say (not including Queens). They have your standard doughy American dumplings, but also thinner-skinned "Hong Kong style" ones that I prefer- even as a white chick. Chicken dumplings are straight fire, too. Plus, New King Dragon delivers, and they were quick. The lady on the phone taking orders was very nice. I ordered wonton soup and beef and broccoli (light on the sauce), and they went above my expectations: wonton's did not skimp on the meat, and it was so flavorful. The broth was light with the perfect amount of saltiness. The beef and broccoli came as requested - light on sauce. It wasn't overly greasy and the beef was tender, not chewy.
