A neighborhood place I had never heard of could be my new favorite Thai place. Between 5 of us, we got dumplings, Tom Ka soup, Pad Thai, Tamarind Duck, Khao Soi Curry Noodles, and Beef with Cashews. I also got a Lychee Thai tea. Everything was wonderful except we've had better Pad Thai. The duck and Curry Noodles were my favorite. My cousin is Celiac and they handed her a takeout menu with everything circled she could eat or make it gluten free. How cool is that?! The ambiance is dark and inviting. The owner, at one point yelled out to all the tables, " Is ANYBODY ready to order?!" Obviously, the menu was enticing and hard to narrow down and nobody wanted to order quickly, lest they miss something. The whole restaurant chuckled. Everything was devoured. I am beyond frustrated with my experience here. I don't understand why, when you order a dish like eggplant with onions and peppers, the only option provided is "vegetables and tofu"--instead of just tofu or adding more of the vegetables that already exist on the plate but it apparently serves as an excuse to dump every cheap filler vegetable under the sun into the container. I ordered the Spicy Eggplant Basil because I wanted eggplant and tofu. I did not want a container overflowing with squash, cabbage, carrots, and bok choy. It's incredibly disappointing to spend $25 only to receive maybe five small pieces of tofu and four small pieces of eggplant. It feels like a blatant attempt to cut costs by padding the meal with "gross" fillers, and I ended up throwing most of it away. If I wanted a generic vegetable medley, I would have ordered one. A friend invited us to Khamdee and we figured it would be similar to all others we've tried. Well, the food here absolutely blew us out of the water. Everything that came out was unbelievable. The food is absolutely authentic, fresh and delicious. The chef and kitchen staff are creating miracles with every dish. We had chicken satay, spring rolls and some soups for appetizers. All were fabulous but the Tom Yum soup in comparison to any other I've tasted was out of this world. It's chock full of vegetables and packed with flavor. Our table ordered a variety of noodle dishes and everything was amazing. The kitchen takes time to make everything taste great but also look beautiful, they really take pride in their food. The stewed beef in the dishes that had it was out of this world. Took me awhile to actually get myself into this place for dinner. I've passed it so many times. Well, the food is absolutely fantastic, fresh, light and with great taste. The service is just as good and the owner is very sociable and cares about his customers as well as the food that is out on the table. After dropping our car off for service, we checked out a new Thai restaurant nearby. The entrance and parking is in the back. They offer lunch specials which were reasonably priced. Eight orders later and I am obsessed. Khamdee is the best thai i have ever had. I am currently stuck on their Pad See Ew, usually vegetables & tofu, no tofu. I dream about it. Their Wonton Soup is so good, the carrots, snap peas, onion, & zucchini are so fresh. The dumplings are different than you would expect. They are the Silom Dumplings offered on their appetizer menu. The Kra-Pow Puffs are like crispy little patties filled with chicken & spices. Almost has the consistency of a pastry with potato filling but its not. 10/10 recommend. I ordered for pickup, and was ready for me to pick up. The food was excellent but it was the exemplary service that took me aback. I called and Daniel who took my order and kindly corrected my enunciation of the meals I requested, I appreciated the education. I met Daniel in person and he was very friendly and professional. He even gave me extra utensils because he heard me mention children eating the meal. All thumbs up so far for service, courteousness - I couldn't wait to have the food. Everything was DELICIOUS, I cannot stress that enough. It was like I had a Thai grandmother cook this just for me with love. However my meal didn't include the complimentary rice. I called back, spoke to Daniel, he apologized and asked if I could come back. After I hung up I realized he gave me chicken curry instead of beef curry... yikes. So I go back just for the rice, and he gives it to me but with extra pork spring rolls as an apology. I thank him and just mention the chicken/beef mixup just as an FYI. I ordered delivery and the order was wrong, which I get, I understand this happens sometimes. When I called up Khamdee I spoke to an employee who couldn't help me and went and got someone else. That someone else picks up the phone with complete sarcasm and disrespect. I ask them who they are and they tell me, and I quote, " If I tell you I'm the owner you will be mad and if I tell you I'm the manager you will be mad". So this person, who is too cowardly to represent the restaurant they either manage or own chooses cruelty, disrespect and ignorant speculation to deal with me instead of owning up to what his incompetent staff has done and either refund me or deliver me the right order. He then tells me angrily, that no one at the restaurant drives, (including himself) which struck me as very juvenile, so no one can get me my food. I told him I don't drive and I'm taking care of my sick mother. He then angrily told me that is my problem and hung up in my face. We were so impressed with the food and service on our last visit to Khamdee we decided to bring our family, all 8 of us there for a dinner extravaganza! Seemed like we ordered everything on the menu but surprising as it was everything was declared delish and we had a fun time. Daniel made sure everything was running smoothly and kept bringing out dishes for us to devour. The server, Gabby was terrific and kept on top of our needs. I'm always hesitant when trying new places even with Khamdee being a 5-star restaurant on Yelp. Today, I decided to take the gamble and order takeout for lunch. Listen, the reviews don't lie! From the time I placed my order on the phone to pickup to consumption; everything was amazing. Very friendly service and food was even better. I ordered a lunch special of Basil Fried Rice with chicken which includes an appetizer; I got the chicken fried dumplings. OMG! Both were soooo good! The rice was made to perfection and the spice factor was just right. The chicken dumplings was loaded with chicken and tasted great with what seemed to be a sweet and sour sauce. I have tried a few noodle dishes but my favorite is the pad woon sen. I love the abundance of these noodles in relation to veggies and meat (obsessed with noodles). A perk of these glass/clear noodles is they can sit awhile if you do takeout and it still tastes fresh once you get home. I have never been disappointed with my order. You can ask for it to be spicier and I have been over spiced once or twice (my own doing haha). They have a door with parking lot access in the back which is great Bc I can't always find a spot in the front on Merrick. They were very busy with takeouts, but prioritized our order over Uber Eats and the gentleman who helped us was very funny. Food was not too saucy not too salty compared to other Thai places which is what I prefer. The Lychee Thai Ice Tea was interesting. Stumbled across this gem about 5 months ago with my daughter. It was tough to pick from the choices on the menu. There was so much we wanted to try! The owner, Daniel was super friendly and helpful. He gives detailed and accurate descriptions of the dishes. The service was on point! I was in the area and went back with my friend last night. All of the food comes out fresh and piping hot. It's obvious this restaurant cares very much about the food they're serving. The best compliment I can give is that it tastes like a friend lovingly cooked this for you in their home. I cannot wait to go dine in person. I got a meal delivered- spring rolls, Basil Fried Rice and Tom kha kai and it was 1) Still hot when I got it due to their thoughtful packaging and 2) Delicious. First, Tom kha kai is one of my favorite things on the planet and this is a GOOD ONE. The broth was so delicate but flavorful and filled with a generous portion of chicken and mushrooms. Eventually, I gave up on the spoon and just took the broth straight from the container. I was sad when I finished it. The Basil Fried Rice was perfectly seasoned and full of fresh vegetables. The shrimp I requested were a nice portion and cooked very well. I just wish I had known I could request more spice because I love love love spicy and with a bit more spice it would have been perfection. But it was delicious as it was! The spring rolls were still hot and crispy! You can tell they care about even their takeout customers- they didn't just stick them in a plastic container to steam- they use a foil bag so they stay nice and hot. Love that they have a mock duck option. Vegetarian duck salad is fresh and a nice vegetarian option. Portions are always worth the price, I get at least 2 meals out of the noodles. Khamdee truly serves some of the best Thai food around. I've dined in the restaurant and order takeout from Khamdee like 3x a month. I have had almost every dish on the menu because everything is so good, I just have to try it all. Some of my favorite dishes include the Spicy Eggplant Basil, Ginger Tong, and Garlic Pepper with Shrimp. I also love their Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, and Pa'nang Curry. I tried Khamdee Thai Kitchen for the first time today and I am so happy I did. I was greeted kindly and menu items were explained to me while I placed my takeout order. While I waited for my takeout order to be ready, I was provided a Thai iced tea which was fantastic while I sat and waited in the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice ambiance with a friendly vibe. When I got home to eat my meal with my family, the peanut sauce was perfection- and I'm a peanut sauce snob LoL. I like that it was explained to me in the restaurant that the peanut sauce for the salad is a slightly different consistency so it can coat the salad nicely and labeled in bag so I knew which peanut sauce container to add to my salad. I'm so glad I bought extra peanut sauce as well. It's so delicious! Chicken satay was great, and the drunken noodles were extremely flavorful with the right amount of spice for my liking.
