Venue: This is a cozy little coffee shop that has a chill, relaxed vibe. I've gone here for business meetings, by myself, and on dates. The service is consistent and friendly. Vittles: I've only had their coffee drinks, but they never disappoint. The place is usually pretty busy on weekends for brunch, so take that for what it's worth as a testament to their food. Horrible and rude!! Not to mention that I was not impressed with the quality of food items. There was a larger man taking our order. He seemed to be a fairy nice guy until we came up. Not sure if the previous customers were regularla (assuring they were) but he was not very nice to my husband and myself. In fact, once we got up next he turned and wakes away with no apologies or explanation. I usually give people a second chance if service exceeds quality but not in this case. New Moon is one of my absolutely favorite casual eateries in Augusta. And it's because of the grits bowl. The pimento cheese grits bowl - topped with pimento cheese (of course), crunchy bacon, creamy avocado, and spicy cholula sauce is one of the best things I've ever eaten! Plus it's incredibly affordable (only $5.50/bowl) and super filling. I always intend to try other things on the menu (I have had the breakfast Banh mi, which is also super tasty), but I keep going back to the grits because they are so wonderful. So if you're ever in downtown Augusta and you want breakfast (or a snack, or lunch, or whatever), do yourself a favor and check out New Moon Cafe. I cannot say enough about how amazing the staff are at this place- and the food is amazing! I ordered over the phone a last minute large lunch order this morning for my office, and they had it ready super fast. They even helped me get the big box of food to my car across the street. Cute and quirky. We had breakfast (chorizo sweet potato wrap, Nutella toast, and the jam ricotta toast) which was surprisingly good! The only complaint I have is that the employees had a really so so attitude. Felt like I was annoying them even taking my order. Then my daughter accidentally knocked over her smoothie and I asked for something to clean it up. The lady (barista?) just rolled her eyes, said nothing to me and went to clean it up. I like to dine in at the Augusta location more than my home Aiken location because it has a lot more space. The food and drink options are similar, but the open area allows for a more comfortable work environment. On my most recent visit I had the avocado toast with sriracha. I added an egg to make it a more filling breakfast. It was delicious. It took awhile for the food because it was prime brunch time, but it was no bother. The server was polite and apologized for the wait. The outdoor seating is great as well. It's covered and an escape from the GA sun. I just wish they would stay open later...just because I love this place so much! read more

I came here for a quick breakfast. This is a coffee store where you order at a counter, get a number and they bring your food to you. I only had food so can't comment on any of their drinks. They have some unusual and unique type meals on their menu. I got avocado toast that had a thin smearing of avocado, some cilantro and sriracha sauce. This was a replacement for a Thai grain bowl I ordered that turned out to be not in stock. The avocado toast was ok, but the toast was cold and there wasn't much avocado. The interior seemed to have kind of a haphazard and disheveled appearance, though there were plenty of seats. I didn't order my coffee. Came here because my wife loves the cream of zucchini soup. We came in and they told us they had it that day, so we went ahead and ordered. Got the half soup half sandwich. The soup being the zucchini soup, and the sandwich the G-easy. Service was so slow and took a long time. We tried to entertain the kids by going outside and walking around. Eventually we went back inside and they finally brought the food. Instead of finding us ASAP, they waited to bring us the food to tell us they did NOT have the zucchini soup, but brought out crab. We didn't want that. So instead of letting us know when they knew, they assumed we'd be okay with crab. So now my wife is upset, and we're soupless. We'd have got a refund if they didn't make us wait forever. So they offered to bring out a side (we chose bagel chips) to offset the cost. The bagel chips weren't that good, but the hummus was tasty. The G-easy was fantastic. If the wait wasn't exceptionally long, I'd come back and order a full sandwich. But having this be our second visit, I don't think we'll be back. read more

New Moon Cafe is where hipster meets hippie....and I mean that in the nicest way possible! The artwork and staff make this place feel inviting as much as it does interesting. There may be a short wait in line to order, but it is totally worth it. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. They bring your food to your table, and there is even outdoor seating if you want to watch the people on Broad Street go by. We ordered 2 of the salmon bagels and an order of grits. First the bagels were not prepared the way it was described, not only were there no capers, maybe sprinkled the last of the crumbs of dill but I also had more pickled onions than I did salmon; second it seemed the person taking the order seemed to have an issue serving my husband. The few customers before my husband were Caucasian and the order taker was very friendly but when my husband (African American) stepped up he was greeted rudely not to mention some of the looks from some of the customers. I give this place 3/5 stars mainly because it has the potential to be a 5/5 with just a few changes. Mainly those changes could come in the decor and arrangement of the shop. It has huge ceilings, great space, and it's located in a cool building (the White Building), right in Downtown Augusta. There's literally so much that could & should be working in its favor, but....it's not :-/ The space is everything you could ask for - tall ceilings, plenty of seating (indoor/outdoor), a cool indoor balcony - but the decor is so confused. I can't tell if it's trying to be hipster/grunge/cafe-ish/divey/??? - literally when my friends and I walked in, the first thing she said was, "It looks like someone shook up a goodie bag and dropped it all over this store." The food prep area is exposed, but honestly it looks like hodgepodge of random equipment that's placed a little bit everywhere. I know it sounds like I'm giving this space/place a hard time, but the truth is you experience everything with your eyes first and when you take it all in, you realize there's so much that leaves you feeling confused and not excited. As for what was ordered, I got an iced coffee that was pretty good and a hot vanilla latte that was way too sweet. It was almost like drinking a white mocha - super sweet. The coffee itself is roasted locally and had pretty good & distinct flavor. I just wish I would've been able to taste more of it in my latte. It's not like I wouldn't come back to this place, it's just that I left feeling like wanted a little more. If you're around, it's worth stopping in and deciding for yourself. read more

There was only one other person dining in at 2:00 and there was no music so our conversation could be heard bouncing off the walls. My husband and I opted for their crab soup (made with surimi and not anything close to real crab) and two sandwiches. I have been wanting to come in here for a while but because they close so early (and by early I mean 5pm, maybe it should read, "they close at the same time that I am getting off from work") I have not had the opportunity to come in. Today, though, a friend and I met here for breakfast before I had to be in to work (why hadn't I thought of that before?) and I was so excited that I was going to finally enter those ever locked (to me) doors! New Moon Cafe did not disappoint, I got the vanilla chai and it was steaming hot and delicious! Apparently they make their own. I also had a bagel but next time I plan on trying the avocado toast that I saw a picture of in someone else's review before writing this. I'm already planning all of my future breakfast dates being here... I just need to figure out the best plan of convincing my friends to drive downtown for breakfast. It is worth it though. If they were open later New Moon would become my go to coffee shop. They have good chai and a really great atmosphere--the room was open and cozy all at the same time. And I felt welcome. The staff was super friendly and they bring the food to you. Upstairs was closed @ the time of my visit. Our menu included: *Green Monster Smoothie (it was a different taste having peanut butter & kale together, but very filling) *Everything bagel (this is truest the way an everything bagel should be. Their bagels are larger than the normal size, soft & chewy.. soft&chewy) *Stone ground Grits (with cheese delicious ) *Dirty Chai The cafe sits next to a bookshop which is pretty Awesome as well! We stumbled across this gem during our walk of downtown Augusta. I enjoyed the grits bowl and an iced coffee (¢25 refills) and the hubby got the Cajun turkey panini (dr. John? I don't remember the name). Both our meals were enjoyable! I definitely recommend stepping out of your comfort zone and trying that grits bowl. I was nervous because those ingredients sound so weird together but it was delicious. Unfortunately, my bread was hard as a rock and I couldn't eat it. Great coffee that's roasted and brewed in house, and I'm a bit of a coffee snob. They even have it for sale it select roasts along with chocolate covered espresso beans! I have been looking for these forever, and the two bags I bought did not disappoint! I've been munching on them all week. I sat outside with my boyfriend and my dog, which is the main reason I chose this place. The outside seating was covered, so don't worry about weather, and parking was free. There were other tables who brought dogs as well! To eat I had their special, the avocado siracha toastie with a fried egg on top. Oh my goodness gracious. SO GOOD! I will be trying to recreate this at home in vain. Their bread definitely made the toastie. Also ordered a fresh juice smoothie with kale, banana, oj, and a mix of other fruits. I told them to just wing it and 'surprise' me. They were very accommodating and it turned out delish! I took a blueberry muffin to-go because they were homemade, as most of their menu items are (but ask because not all are). It saved me on a snack attack later that day and was also delicious! My boyfriend had a oj strawberry banana smoothie and a bacon egg and cheese croissant, all of which he enjoyed, but he would've preferred a fried egg over scrambled. I had to steal some, it was delectable. We ordered some cheese danishes which were sweet and creamy with a flaky buttery outer crust and a warm soft inside. A sweet young lady gave my daughter several mini-muffins which she would not share with me she loved them so much. Very kind of the staff.
